Sure we do! A blue check told us! 🤣Like Steve. And he was a genius that propelled us into the future. Also, it’s the internet. So you have no clue how credible this is, or if there is pertinent context.

Can I ask why? You'd think they are but there are thousands of no-name people that also have a blue checkmark.
Because twitter had some kind of secret system and committee for deciding who gets the checkmark. It happened often if you just knew the right person or if you thought the "correct way".Can I ask why?
If you think Musk "started with nothing", you're [sounds of getting banned from MacRumors intensify].
A positive change at Twitter would be to shut it down……forever.Wow! That sounds quite greedy! And within hours of joining the company too! I’m sure it makes economic sense but at least lead with some positive changes?
You could just not use it. Nobody is forcing you to acknowledge that it exists, you're choosing to.A positive change at Twitter would to shut it down……forever.
Mmm mmm. Indeed. Indeed. 🤔I don’t see the value in spending that sort of money on the platform. Better to invest in a grass roots social network rather than this manufactured and re-engineered garbage.
i’m not on twitter but i doubt 230 million people have the check. aren’t check marks usually for celebrities and rich people anyways? they will definitely pay, they are “elite” and want everyone to know they can afford it.What a stupid businessman. Doesn't he realize that a lot of the 230 million or so Twitter users would be more apt to pay $4.99 a month than $19.99 a month? This truly shows how out of touch he is. I mean, does it come with Disney+ or do I get extra online storage? 🤣
What took you so long? It is the sewer of the internet as has been that way for a long time.I'm quite sure I'm not alone is saying this fee wouldn't have affected me because I'm a nobody, but I've also just recently deleted my personal and business Twitter accounts. It's overrun by bots / angry nut jobs.
I have felt a lot happier without the negativity. It won't be missed.
Exactly, and he didn't get his wealth by being stupid.I find this to be quite funny and rather smart; having that check mark is such a status symbol to some people, that they'll part with a lot more than $20/m to have it. Might as well milk their most ardent users.
They aren't, thousands of no-name regular people have checkmarks. They are useless currently and will be useless under the new plan. But at least now they'll generate some revenue. Elon is a genius.aren’t check marks usually for celebrities and rich people anyways? they will definitely pay, they are “elite” and want everyone to know they can afford it.
You can hate the guy (and likely not even know why), but at least try and be realistic.

If you see Elon's latest poll it shows almost no one would even pay $15 to be verified. It means you have to be you and a public person and use your real name. The real lure of twitter is its toxic anonymity. You are completely missing the point. The main feature of this subscription is he Verification.
Verified is a special status. It signals that the user is "known" and implies that their message carries more weight
If everyone is verified, then the status loses its meaning.
Who might want this status - and why would they pay for it? Journalists who want to be heard and promote articles. Celebrities who want to promote products. People who 1 way or another are trying to sell something. It's worth it for them to pay $20/mo.
Everyone else - who are mainly passive consumer of Twitter - have no incentive to pay for it.
why don't you clarify it for us thenIf you think Musk "started with nothing", you're [sounds of getting banned from MacRumors intensify].
can't wait to see apple car …
NANI???!!!! 😱Correct and nobody wiped out his student loans. He was in debt when he was a student and worked his way out of it. People like to lie and say he inherited his wealth, but he didn't.
Because there's way more than 1000's of people in higher status positions that get verified. Like, some newscaster from Boise, or some NASCAR driver (I don't watch NASCAR), etc.. Just because YOU don't know them, doesn't mean a lot of folks don't.Can I ask why?
First, you don't know how exactly verification will be implemented, nobody does. And you think at 20 bucks (or more depending on subscription model) per bot that is a sustainable system? Also, its' not like a purchased blue checkmark is somehow the mark of a wise, important person (that was actually what the weird approved-elite-only model of the past implied!). If anything, this takes power away from the blue checkmark. I see no danger at all in this move.Very easy to use a prepaid or other non-trackable credit card. This does nothing to stop imposter accounts and in fact makes it easier for them to get verified.
