Yeah, this story and the "iPhone 5 announcement in a few weeks now!" story seriously aren't worth front page coverage. Really, did we need yet 2 more stories about the iPhone 5 that have nothing new to offer ?

Did we really need 2 stories for the case-mate case leak and the screen protector ? That could have easily been 1.

Of course, each time I dare mention these points, I get down-modded. This site has really gone down in quality for front page stories since Page 2 went away.

I'm curious as to why you still come here. Frankly, I've grown tired of your complaining about rumours on a rumours site. You've made your point, repeatedly. No one is forcing you to read these posts.

The problem is this market is developer driven . It isnt phones competing but platforms, if apple start loosing market sahre and developer turn more to android it can get into a downward spiral .

Yet even though Android is crushing Apple in OS market share Apple is CRUSHING Android in app store revenues... Meaning developers are making FAAAAAAR more with iOS.

This "delay" is killing me. I was hoping to pick up a 5 when I'm in the U.S. next month. My jailbroken/unlocked AT&T 3G is driving me crazy. If I miss the initial N. America release I guess I'll just have to wait another 6 months until it becomes easily available in Asia - the lines don't get any shorter over here

I don't believe that Android's sales are driven by people looking at its features, its openness and making a choice... They're available on EVERY carrier at EVERY price point starting at free... Not to mention that there are many many many many models...

When the average person buys an Android phone they're thinking "Its like an iPhone but..." Fill in the end... Its cheaper, its on Sprint, its on sale with a buy one get one...

I'm not saying that Android is a bad OS... Its actually good... But educated consumer choice isn't the driving factor that is giving it its sales numbers. Its price, availability and market saturation.

Well said!

F-this. I'm getting in line now...

Yep. I am getting the tent ready and going camping at the Apple store.

The iPhone 4 design is perfect in my opinion. It lays flat, it can stand on it's side, why would they curve the back and loose the balance?

I definitely agree with you there. It's more about the software but as of right now, ios is much more polished and user friendly than android and that's why the iphone sells the way it does. Now if it changes in the future , that's a different story.

More android smartphone are sold then iOS, you have of course the tablet and pmd but there also android is growing.

Sure but if android market share keeps rising as it does that isnt going to last.

That drives some of the sales not others.

Each platform has its advantages and disadvantages price is just 1 of them.

Again for some yes, others no.

Now thats BS plenty of people study both and still choose for android even at same or higher pirce levels. Plenty of android top models out there who are just as expensive as iphone.

I love form factor of the iPhone 4 as well, but I'm looking forward to a redesign. Here's hoping for something that can easily be picked up, laying face-flat.

I agree that I don't care so much about waiting, but having some semblance of a date and/or the specs on this thing would be nice. Talk about dangling a carrot!

You are in the minority here.

No, I'm really not. Not all of us a "100% Apple and nothing else", quite the contrary, there's a lot of folks here that are into some Apple stuff.

Again, don't mistake your opinion for the "truth". Opinions are not "truth" nor are they "facts".

When the average person buys an Android phone they're thinking "Its like an iPhone but..." Fill in the end... Its cheaper, its on Sprint, its on sale with a buy one get one...

How do you explain the Samsung Galaxy S II, a phone more expensive than the iPhone available on less carriers (and until like this week, not available at all in the US) being the #1 selling Android device since its introduction then ?

Of course you can't, because it shows your arguments to be false.

I'm curious as to why you still come here. Frankly, I've grown tired of your complaining about rumours on a rumours site. You've made your point, repeatedly. No one is forcing you to read these posts.

I'm not complaining about rumors, I'm complaining about how it's been organised and presented since the removal of Page 2.

A fact you seem to miss in your haste to complain.

This always happens and honestly I think sometimes this stuff is Apple driven. They want everyone to be in a frenzy to try to get one, so they must have everyone think they will be in such short supply that folks will start camping out a week ahead.

Apple is the Willy Wonka of the 21st Century.

There has been a production delay rumor with the release of e every iPhone model. These rumors are a waist of time. Apple always come through.

Teardrop shaped???

Would be nice to see some tech specs. What chip, still separate phones for GSM and CDMA? Retina display size etc. Ram will probably be larger but with Apple you never know...

I would wait for the teardrop

Me too! I want them just to announce it so taht I can decide wether to hold on to AT&T 3Gs (less than a month) or just drop them and temporarily go with a prepaid service (2 months or so). I hate AT&T so much!

Can someone explain to us why it's referred to as teardrop shaped if in fact it is wedge shaped?

Yes, it's a wedge with rounded corners, but I don't recall seeing any mockups that show it to curve along its length.

Teardrop ? Because you wil cry when you cannot get it.

Just a guess

If the event is coming this month, it will have to be in the last 3 or 4 days. I have a growing suspicion that it will be forced back to the first week of October.

I've read the article several times over and I still think we'll be seeing the 5 in 2011; however, I could see the 4s coming out October 7th and then the 5 on October 15. This would explain all the confusion and many dates we've heard already...they could be launching 2 diffent models at 2 different times.

I'm basing that on the following...

"We’ve heard that there are indeed two different models of iPhone coming out next month (announced this month?) *We still think October 7th is the scheduled release date give or take any delays."

"We therefore think that iPhone 5 will be delayed slightly at the very least and may see shortages all the way into 2012."

As for the shortages, theres nothing new there at all. If you're on this site then I'm pretty sure you're smart enough to know the iPhone 5 will be in very limited supply, hence, the preorders, camping out, etc...

I think we should get answers this coming Weds when the at least announce (invites got out) when the press conference is for Apple. Generally they send these invites on a Weds and around 2pm Eastern time. There was some hope that this Weds. the invites would go out but now most likely will be on next Weds. This is going with this is an event in September. Which I got to believe.:D

There's a very good reason not to release a new product after September; you will probably never have enough stock to keep up with demand during the holiday season. The fear is that instead of an iPhone 5, a customer might pick up a competitor because they need a new phone ASAP and can't wait.

Unlike the Apple faithful, most people buy whatever is available as evidenced by the fact that the iPhone 4 is still selling very well despite the fact that there are literally rumors every day that the iPhone 5 is coming soon (and if people had even just one tech savvy friend, they'd stop them from buying an iPhone 4 right now).
