AFAIK Samsung doesn't report numbers at all. What we get is analyst's estimations. Apple also reports shipments. It's defined in their statements. They do however report retail sales from their stores. Shipments vs sales has been thoroughly debunked on this forum and elsewhere.
Enlighten me show me some proof.

The report says that Apple will not continue the plastic-shelled body of the iPhone 5c, and will instead have two models with metal outer casings similar to the current iPhone 5s.

like i said in some earlier thread - The future of iphone 5c is in garbage can.

and i was right.

I hope the next iPhone isn't *too* similar to the current iPhone design. We've had the same principled square-ish design since the iPhone 4 in 2010 - it's a nice design that has served the last 4 generations well, but it's time for something different.

Apple can make a 15" iPhone with the thickness of aluminum foil, for all I care, AS LONG AS they also offer a 4" screen for those of us that prefer that form factor. I have a 5s but truly miss the 4 form!

As much as I like my apple products, I'm starting to feel that apple is no longer setting the standard for phones (not that it's a bad thing to me), but instead becoming a follower.

Two New iPhones With Screens Larger Than 4.5" and 5" Coming This Year

Oh you're referring to android loyalists? Well no need to wait, we've always loved high end specs. We don't say one thing and secretly wish for another. We all know an Android phone already had the finger print scanner. No biggie. And Android OEMs don't advertise and bash the finger print scanner or 64 bit CPU. But nice try on the failed scenario reversal. Lol.

You forget Qualcomm saying 64-bit is a gimmick and then back tracking.

You think large screens is innovation? You know why new markets like wearables suck? Because Apple hasn't shown them the way. Large screens is the only thing competitors can come up with on their own.

I use mine for web all the time, no problems.

If they discontinued the current size for larger only I'd probably move on to another device.

Yes. I do as well, but with many sites it's a bit of a strain for me with such a tiny screen. Maybe I'm getting old. :)

If you move on, where are you planning on going? Every other phone out there is ginormous now.

Hmmmm.... by loyalists standards, it is a gimmick. According them, specs don't matter. And another thing, I'm pretty sure you know what I mean when I say Android OEMs. So again, nice try. The best thing for loyalists to do is just admit they're incredibly bias, and will always trash android OEMs and their devices regardless of how amazing they are. That way when you get your iPhablet you won't have to hide the fact you bought the very thing you were mocking Samsung about.

Samsung makes amazing products on the coat tails of Apple.

Your arguments are circular.

the whole concept behind the 5C was idiotic from the beginning. It made absolutely zero sense to create a new phone that had the same exact specs the previous gen phone, and try to pass it off as a "lower cost" current gen option. The best lower cost option has always been the previous gen phone, and any investments made in creating a current gen low cost phone proved to be a total waste.

Apple plays catchup

The S4 came out with its 5 inch display 8 months ago. Latter half of 2014 for a 4.5 and 5 inch display would mean that Apple is more than one year late into the "large screen" trend. What will the real 'innovators' have done by that time for Apple to catch up in 2015? Dunno but the situation is indeed sad for iPhones.

Anyone attempting to argue that a screen larger than 4" is too big has clearly never used anything other than an iPhone.

I've used a WP7, Two HTC Ones, iPhone 1, iPhone 4, and iPhone 5s.

The iPhone 4 has the absolute perfect screen size/res and overall form factor to actually fit in your pocket and be usable with one hand.

So what are all of these apps going to look like on these massive new screen sizes? Are they going to keep them pixel perfect? If so you still will only be able to use the original screen pixels and your new screen size will be useless on legacy apps. Are they going to stretch the apps up so they look distorted and blurry like Android apps? Both of these scenarios sound very un-Apple to me.

I really don't see how they can keep Apple quality look and increase screen size until all UI is required to be vector... and vector that can somehow magically make everything pixel perfect. Is this even possible?

Can someone explain to me why 5" is so important if no iOS apps support that res? What will you do when you get your brand new 5" phone with no apps that support the new res? I really don't understand.

What's so idiotic about putting last years model in a low cost casing in a variety of colors, and selling it at $100 less??????? I'll wait!!!!!! That's called F'in genius!

But yet in still Samsung and HTC went out of their way to make a smaller flagship smartphone. Looks like they were late to the grown up size phone market!

how does an apple log taste?

its idiotic because last years model should be $100 less regardless of the color or material the casing is, you can make your phone any color you want with a case.

so really the 5c is for people that want last years phone but want apple to also put the colored case on for them?

No the 5c is for impulse buyers.

Wow! Can't wait for a massive screen! The ONE thing I envy of Android. But, dropping the 5c already? Maybe Apple think it was a mistake?!

I don't know that the 5c was a mistake as such, but for sure Apple not pricing a re-wrapped previous-gen phone at significantly less than the 5s is.
