Look at the current iMac.
So... why not two-tone?

;)

well... you include any white (keyboard keys and mouse) which would make it tri-coloured.

quite frankly, i love the fact that they may be similar in design to the imac. it would make sense and i think it's pretty slick, imho (but i have a masters degree in fine arts, so what do *i* know about that kind of stuff....)

people that think that'd be ugly need some kind of crash course on the fundamentals of colour theory. and they also need to realize that for the most part, we're seeing *mock-ups* of what someone think they might look like.

whatever they'll look like in the end, they'll be slick as hell. my only regret is not being able to afford one.

has apple ever made something that was totally repulsive? i don't think so. Apple has always been consistent with its futuristic design and it works. If you think that it is going to be ugly get a sony vaio.

Nobody has explained to me why the keyboard is covered with a piece of paper. Unless they removed the whole keyboard and it's replaced with a huge touch screen (not just a touch track pad) that they don't want to show yet. Then it'll look like a big Nintendo DS hahaha

Interesting. Very Air-Like. It probably is just a disassembled Air. Basically, what this whole video comes down to is that, Apple are moving to aluminum, but ultimately, Safari seems snappier.

Yeah, that's a great leak... with a sheet of paper over the keyboard. If this is what we have to look forward to, then it's not much of a big deal. I call Fake. If it's real, then the "leaker"/cameraman really knows how to dampen expectations.

the computer in that video has a huge (excessively wide) bezel, y'think? it looks unnatural.

Sure, computers in the wild don't have such huge bezels...

Maybe this is just the low end macbook
and the high end macbooks will be aluminium only??

Looked allot like the air

My apologies if this was brought up already, but is it feasible that the MacBook and MBA lines may be integrated into this "new MacBook" (EDIT: IF IT'S REAL, OTHER POSTERS' ASTUTE OBSERVATIONS MAY INDICATE OTHERWISE)?
I would like it, because the Air is really sexy. I just like that curved aluminum design with the black keyboard. I would definitely spend money on a MacBook like that. :apple: So the video has to be real, please!

Perhaps it will be two toned but not black like everyone is thinking?

Maybe apple is looking to the past for inspiration? Aluminum middle and border around the screen with a white plastic lid and bottom?

OT: You've got to remove the Ad with the fearsome woman

I kid you not. Please remove this advertisement. The one with the ugly woman? It's ugly. You know why? Because she's ugly. I really wonder how anyone could possibly think of taking her in an attempt to make new customers. So, I guess that one in the ads, she's the girlfriend of the guy who makes this product. (I already forgot what the product is called and I doubt I'm going to find out. You know why? Because I'm terrified by that woman).

Please stop advertisments showing ugly people unless it's meant to be funny.

Thank you,
Georg

I agree, maybe it's the much demanded return of the 12'' Powerbook... I still can't believe they're going to sell a premium product for an highly reduced price... Can't wait, though.

Does this look like something Apple would do?

Yes.

You don't remember the original iBook?
It had one of those on either side of the monitor.
*Edit - Goood Grief, I just googled ibook clamshell, what an ugly looking toy. this does not even look like a real computer, more like something a 5 year old would play with. These had to be while Steve Jobs was gone from apple..

ibooklimeopen.jpg
In a time of ugly boxy gray and beige computers these clamshells were awesomely different. With those and the gum drop iMacs, Apple got back on track. I still have my original orange clamshell - it's a fantastic little wireless word processor STILL. I maxed out the memory and drive, so it is just strong enough to run with OSX. The screen is only 800x600, and it only has a cd drive. But, it does have an airport card and it works well and is exceptionally sturdy.

No regrets.

as i wrote at the other topic...

to be onest i do not think that apple will make tha Macbook half plastic.

the reason? "we go green"!!!!!

if they do it plastic now then the line will be plastic for 2 years since there be no update on the case for that time.

that beeing said + the fact that the current iPod Nano +iPod Touch were FULL Alu I think we will see an all Alu Macbook

my 2 eurocents....

Are you too young to remember the toxic plastic phase of Apple Design?

As someone else already said, those designs were at the leading edge of design schools when launched and replicated all over the world for at least 2 or 3 more years, in a time when dull white and grey boxes prevailed and there was no fresh creativity whatsoever in the IT industry.

To judge them as "kitsch" or "toxic plastic" now is as glib and irrelevant as explaining that bell bottom pants that were popular in the 70s are ridiculous now.

But coming from someone who NEVER says anything positive about Apple products, I am not surprised, of course...

That's a Macbook Air Alright. It really looks like this. Go into a store and have a look at one.

That video is just a Macbook Air, with the "Air" removed either by mechanical means or video effects. The paper on the keyboard could have multiple reasons: the keys are not in place (laptop disassembled), the video maker wants to hide the of-center-ness of the "Macbook" label (the keys are a good reference point) or he wants to mask his identity (keyboard layout gives away your location....).

I was seven at the time, and those machines were the reason i got into computing and technology.

Iconic for me, the finest Apple ever made. Nice to see some fun and colour in the tech department too.
