Yeah, with all the speculation and rumors flying around, it's hard to put something concrete.

:D

Is this kinda what Apple is doing? Maybe the large number of MacBook and MacBook Pro leaks are intended to distract not only us but the rumor sites and rumor-gatherers to something bigger on that date? Maybe details on the rumored $800 notebook? Components and specs like a custom chipset (custom chipset is unlikely, but…)? A tablet? iLife '09 and iWork '09? Or is Apple's leak control just leaking a lot lately?

Yeah. As I have said I think 800 is a tablet and not a notebook. I think the low end macbook will keep its price but the high end price will drop $50 or so.

Hi to all,

This video has been polemic. Some people say that this may be the Macbook, other say that this is a macbook fake video...

people who're saying the macbook is fake, are arguing that the filmed computer is a macbook air with a tweaked name.

Well, I've made my little research before start saying the video was fake. And here are my conclusions:

- notice the "macbook" name is right on the middle. If the word "Air" would've been erased with some sort of program, "macbook" would be slighly on the left side.

- the name "macbook" is written in silver/grey. The "macbook air" name is written in black.

- the screensides are not in silver as they are with Macbook Air. They're clearly white.

- And, so it is with the power button. It is not silver but also in white.

- This brings me to think that the keyboard should be a white macbook style keyboard. Besides, if it would be black as the macbook air keyboard is, we would notice some darker zones in the sheet... A white keyboard will be the little surprise and that's why there's a sheet covering it.

- Silver + white = 2 tone macbook

So yeah, this video isn't fake. It is the real deal. anyway, will see it Tuesday.

Bye

hmmm :apple:

I am almost 100% certain it's due to the lighting and the focus of the camera. Please look at the video again, especially at 1:48.

ex: The power button which you say is white magically turned silver at 1:48? No. That was due to the nature of the location of the lighting as well as because the button is not 100% flush with the case.

Can anyone back me up on this?
i concur.

My apologies if this was brought up already, but is it feasible that the MacBook and MBA lines may be integrated into this "new MacBook" (EDIT: IF IT'S REAL, OTHER POSTERS' ASTUTE OBSERVATIONS MAY INDICATE OTHERWISE)?

In any case, I don't really care - I'm just hoping for a more powerful GPU in the MacBook Pro, and, if I'm REALLY lucky, one of the new BLu-Ray drives like those shipping in the Vaio TT on October 15th? Is (as someone else posted) that date a coincidence, or may we see a MBP wit the "world's thinnest BD drive?

*sigh* Only time will tell...

I really don't see Apple making a tablet. As cool as it would be, I don't think it would offer anything new. I hope I'm wrong though.

plus since nothing really stays a secret any more, there would have been way more rumors about tablets, which haven't been anything more than whispers and wishing lately.

when a tablet is about to be released, we'll already know about it, like with the first iphone.

no surprises anymore, apple is too big.

Agreed, but as a recent MR article stated, Apple is shifting tactics to deal with leaks. There may be people in the know who are too scared crapless to say anything.

Apple won't release a tablet yet.

Most likely if a tablet is in the works it will be released next year after the WWDC.

Apple would need to release a new sdk to developers so that they could start building apps unique to the touch environment. The iphone touch sdk just doesn't provide the tools that would be necessary for a larger tablet.

Apple might release a tablet at WWDC with an assortment of Apple apps to bridge the gap of no 3rd party applications. This way they could demo the tablet and simultaneously release a new expanded touch sdk to developers.

Regardless it is still too early for an Apple tablet.

Exactly! Listen to this man! :D

I hope the new one has a plastic shell. A good synthetic material is far superior than aluminum. I prefer a lighter and more durable notebook.

Yeah. As I have said I think 800 is a tablet and not a notebook.
I think $800's hard to reach with a tablet, unless it's a mini-tablet or something.

Now that makes sense. So it seems we are looking at H2 2009 or MWSF 2010.

We might see an iPhone OS mini-tablet before then, but a full-size tablet… I'm not so sure.

I can't believe that the whining has already begun and the new lappy has not even been released yet! :D

I, for one, would love a black plastic and aluminum two-tone job. Besides, isn't the shiny black plastic to everyone's liking now? ;)

That would be just elegant and lovely. Sleek, too.
