Well...

I phoned them yesterday to order an imac and asked them about any 'back to school' promo and the girl told me to wait till September (and indeed this was when promo started last year). But then she added : "If you want good offers you should wait till mid-September, end of September".

I thought that apple will be releasing some new products in time for back to school..... would be nice to have a revamped macbook pro :)...

What ipod have you got? I dont think i want a touch. Will probably sell it and get an ebay classic. (if the touch is even on promo).
...Though they are quite pretty..

Apple: We're sorry for ripping off our UK customers over the years, and so for our back to school promo, we will offer a free Mac with every iPod bought, instead of the other way around.

:D

Do we still think they will give us the offer, due to the fact the macrumors front page is saying new products within weeks. Would Apple really give the U.K customers the brand new generation ?

I'm thinking the promotion will come in the same time as last year, just around the time of the iPod updates.. but this will mean we won't get a touch with every mac, probably something to the value of ~ £100. They'll use the updated products as an excuse.

I was going to buy my first MBP in a week or two, i'm so glad i came across this site! :)

Just got off the phone with apple uk (0208 2181000 ask for sales) and asked about this promotion. He told me he did not know anything about this.
I then said that's ashame as i'm a student going back to uni. Then as i was about to go he told me to check the apple/uk site over the next two weeks, if it was going to happen.

no they wouldn't. i think traditionally it has been the cheapest ipod available or the value thereof off another ipod

i've been trying for weeks, but I cannot decide if I wanna get a basic iMac and basic macbook instead of new macbook pro. or a really powerful iMac and hope that my powerbook G4 will survive another 2 years.

yeah but i doubt it if apple is selling it to AT&T cheaper and then leaving O2 to subsidise it more! The UN-SUBSIDISED price must be the same here and there and that IS set by Apple.

Even with sales tax I could have bought my MBP a lot cheaper in the US than it cost me here!

DO you also complain about your higher minimum wage rate and free health service?

And the NHS is funded by everyone's taxes, no service is literally free.

I hope they hurry up with the back to school, I also wish that you could use the £100 ipod discount against an iPhone.

Actually last year it was a) Mid September and b) The new Touch which comprised the offer....a substantially better deal than that seen in the US.

I would expect exactly the same this year - for the offer to start as soon as the new iPod's are released.

anybody know if the rebate will be the full amount of the ipod, or just £100 ?

if its only £100 off then meh, im not willing to pay the other 100.

i have the money ready to go, just dont think i can wait a full 3 weeks or so before i get one

I hope it isn't just for £100, I already have the iPod Touch, and was hoping to get the newer one completley free. I really hope we hear some news about this and if it will even happen... I feel like I'm just wasting my time waiting if it doesn't happen, when I could be enjoying my first Mac

The best part of the HE discount is that they often give 0% interest over 12 months on purchases - i hope the banking crisis won't have stopped this.

anyone heard any more on student offer of the ipod touch????

I really need a new iMac - I've been using PC's for the last few years and desperately want to go back to Macs...
I've been waiting now for a few months with the money in the bank... WANT ONE NOW! aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhh

Something about the 9th Sept?
my course starts on the 29th so I'm hoping to get it before then so I can have a play... plus my PC is so slow and crap that I can go for a cup o tea and a nap... then I've forgotten what I'm doing! :(

*sob*

Hang in there.. The promo was launched on the 12th Sept. Last year (I think) so we're looking at a date around the 16th this year.. at a guess!

Yeah I know how you feel... my course starts then as well but i also want to wait for updates!

Do they always offer 12 months 0%? That would make life a lot easier for me and allow me to get an MBP instead of the MB!

Also, who is the UK scheme aimed at? In my area schools and colleges start next week so if it was aimed at them is it not really late? If it's aimed at Unis then I guess mid Sept would make most sense for UGs but not for PGs like myself.
