Guys I've called multiple Apple Stores in London and none has the 2.9/1TB/460. They said there's no chance they'll get one any time soon. Why people are reporting they've got one??

How much bigger is the 15 over the 13 now they are both smaller?

I love my 13" but if I walked into an Apple Store and found the 15" would fit in my bag I wouldn't be against a bigger display.

You can find all that information on Apples website. Under technical specifications...

I went into Westfield Stratford before work to pick-up a dongle. I asked them if they had the spec I wanted (maxed out 15" in space grey) and they did! As I didn't;t want to be walking around with a 3k laptop all day, I didn't take it. They also wouldn't let me reserve/pick-up later.

Then went back after work and they still had them, so got it in the afternoon. Don't phone them; walk-in and ask.

They only get/got a handful, so they've probably already gone, especially bearing in mind that they get their delivery early in the morning.

I know a lot of us on here are after maxed out models. But I suspect that generally, very few people are going to casually walk-in and drop that much cash on a MacBook. I'm sure they probably won't sell out that easily if they get a few.

Thanks for the details. I've asked the business guy there over the phone (to no avail). He even said that forums weren't a reliable source of information. LOL

Yeah, true. I'm a baby making a fuss because I have to wait less than 6 days now (Apple's estimated delivery is the 30th). I should learn to wait, especially that I have a working MBP.

But still, I can't help to want it like a true spoiled child.™

I called in advance, was told that Covent Garden have the 512GB, 16GB RAM touchbar MacBook Pro 13".

They still had it when I came in before the store closed. I thought that the touch bar was super dim.

While I liked the design and weight of the laptop, I felt that £2100 price after my education discount is an obscene price to ask for a laptop.

I don't know what Apple was thinking to be honest... I would have definitely returned it had I ended up buying it.

Well, in that particular case you're paying £1550 for the Touch Bar and screen and design and all that good stuff, and £550 for the upgrades you wanted. It's not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but in the scheme of MacBook Pros it's not outrageous.

And people forget about the residual vailue: if it costs you more upfront, you sell it for more when the time comes. I'm not saying it will totally even out, but it's not all dead money.

White City has this configuration in stock 100%. I purchased the base model 15" but I saw this on their stock computer and they had units available.

Apple Store have even 15" stock models available. But they all told me the 2.9Ghz/460/1TB wasn't available at the moment... I can't be bothered to go there and waste time because my BTO will deliver early next week.

In Space Grey? What time did you see them available? Thanks.

It is expensive, no questioning that. You just have to justify how much you will be using it; and if the money you pay makes that experience worthwhile. The second part is deeply subjective.

The whole thing is that I already have a custom built desktop PC at home. I would have only used the Macbook for media/listening to music and browsing the internet. I think it may make more sense for me to order a tablet instead as a laptop, especially at this price, would be complete overkill.

That'a completely understandable and reasonable, mate. Everyones situation and preferences are different. This MacBook is my main power machine, primarily for home use, as I don't have a desktop (like the flexibility to work around the house). For the tasks you were buying it for, I agree, definitely overkill. Perhaps a good excuse to wait for the new iPads in March if you're in no rush ;)

Hahah, indeed! Not in a rush at all- even though I ended up buying a load of Currys gift cards with a 8% bonus on top of the amount I topped up with. So I am sort of looking for something to snatch up around black friday (that I probably do not need anyway lol);

15" model is now available in the UK for instore pickup, both base models are in stock in most places this morning.

The question is do stores carry BTO models? But I've decided I'll wait on mine to arrive... It's not like it's going to do anything different than my 2011 MBP (with 512 Gb SSD, 16 Gb RAM and 1 To HDD)...

£2215 after mandatory Apple Care! Shame they did the i7 upgrade on these 13", otherwise would have been able to save a pretty penny.

Slightly irritated that I bought my MBP yesterday, when today I would have gotten a £120 gift card...

Guy in the store said it was "extremely unlikely" that any Black Friday offers would apply to the new machines...

EDIT: Aaaaand looking more closely at the Black Friday offer... he wasn't wrong :p

Does the offer not apply to the new MBPs?
