U.K. Retail store availability of Touch Bar MacBook Pros?

So it's happened - despite ordering a base unit 15 inch TBMP on 2 November, I am yet to take delivery and yet they are appearing in shops.

Pre-order? Total joke.

I am hearing more positive news about battery life after re-install, so might be tempted to update my base model to Touch-bar.

Yep, both are stocking 3.3/16/512. It just doesn't show online.

That's fine and it explains the delays. But how are units identical to mine going to stores instead of filling those existing pre-orders? It should be all pre-orders first and then shop roll-outs, at least for the stock models...
 
For those picking up the 15" in store - what models are you getting? Can you let us know if only base models are available and if so, which ones?

I don't believe this is how it ever works. Store orders are always there before pre-orders (even if the online checker doesn't update). This has been my experience with other products. Apple will always try to get products to its stores ASAP and I don't disagree with them.

Mind you, when I say store orders, I don't mean people ordering to store - I mean that the store has bought 1000's well in advance, to sell through its stores.

The exception would be certain BTO configurations, which may get to people before the stores get them (or the stores decided not to order them in the first place).

I don't agree. It undermines the whole point of pre-orders.
 
My better half just picked me up a 15" space gray 512GB config in Buchanan Street in Glasgow - looking forward to scrapping my 2011 17" at last :)

Does anyone know if regents street or Covent Garden have 15" 512GB options? Either base BTO or the higher up spec.

I was in there on Monday and they only had the 13" non touchbar model on display.

Might pop in tomorrow again if they've got the Tb equipped models.

Did you have a 13" or 15" on order I seem to recall? Time to bin that 4K UltraFine and get the 5K! :D
 
Anyone have any idea when the Apple website should start offering in-store collection for the 15" like it does for the 13"? I'm waiting to be able to do this online to get UniDays discount (don't have a university ID card).

I would expect to see this tomorrow.
 
UK Apple store just dropped from 4-5 week delivery for the 15" to 3-4 weeks.

Just need them to add the in-store pick-up option now.
 
I'm gonna head out to see what I can pick up in store. I will let you know what I found later!

Was a bid idea working from home today as I can have been MBP in hand already...
 
Anyone found a 13" touch bar model with 16GB/512GB in store, which wasn't 3.3 ghz CPU? I'd like to not sacrifice battery life any further...
