So with the education discount do you need to take Applecare out?

Neither Glasgow store has the 2.9 15" in stock.

No you don't.

As of June this year, the three year warranty is no longer included for free for students. So buy AppleCare if you want the extended coverage.

The question is do stores carry BTO models? But I've decided I'll wait on mine to arrive... It's not like it's going to do anything different than my 2011 MBP (with 512 Gb SSD, 16 Gb RAM and 1 To HDD)...
The bigger stores are stocking the following BTO models:
  • 13"/3.3 i7/16GB/512GB Space Grey and Silver
  • 15"/2.9 i7/1TB/AMD 460 Space Grey and Silver

Going to head to Brighton later.

I'd be tempted to swap to a 15" as long as it's not substantially bigger and heavier. Also has to fit in my bag. If it won't not interested.

I might go for a storage or processor bump on the 13 if they have stock.

We have until January right? Due to Christmas or not for exchanges?

Oh annoying. I saw a higher spec 15" available at regents street. Busy at the time so didn't order and now it's gone....

I bought yesterday - my receipt says 8th January is final return day

What level of storage did you go for? I tell myself to get the 1TB because why not? But really 512Gb is probably enough. You can get portable 1TB SSDs for less than Apples upgrade price from 512Gb to 1TB giving you an extra 512GB of storage (512Gb internal + 1TB external SSD).

I know the SSDs in the new Pros are really fast so would I miss that?

Guys does any one know where I can get the 13 i7 16gb 512 from? Tried Westfield and Stratford neither have them!

I have literally just got back from Brent Cross where I picked this exact model up. Drove there on the off chance and am very happy!

Anyone know when the 'store pick-up' stock is updated?

Checked this morning and my local store had a 15" available for collection today. Just checked again to order to pick-up tomorrow and it now says 'Available January'..... guessing they sold out?

Worth waiting until tomorrow morning or just going to an another store an extra hour away with stock?

They only confirmed having the 512GB storage. They told me if I want a 1TB then I'd have to order online...

If it's one with 512GB then it will have the lower processor and graphics too, i.e. a stock model. Not all stores stock the BTO models and the ones that do will obviously sell out at some point.

Pretty sure Regent Street is sold out. I was just there to trade in my iPhone and the guy I was talking to said that the display units just got put in today (Friday, 25th November).

Picked up the 15" form my local store today... so happy I don't have to wait another couple of weeks for it to arrive!!

I went and checked out the 15 inch and although it is smaller and lighter than the previous generation it is still too large for my bag I carry around and I don't want to change my bag. I am trying to reduce weight not add to it!

I do fancy a better spec version of the 13 if I can find it.

Tbh you have to be persistent, a lot of the apple staff are clueless on stock levels of these. On top of that they have the audacity to say don't listen to the forums, there are no high spec ones available in the UK, earliest is 4 Jan.
