Ahh that's a bummer. So what's the best way to know if there's stock? Literally calling every day?

Nope! Use your legs to walk into your local stores and ask. Otherwise just wait until stock is more widespread and Apple employees have caught up with actual available stock.

No 15" top line stock models available anywhere in London - doesn't look like Apple got stock today.

I have talked to Apple staff at quite a few stores who didn't even know that they stock the maxed out (2.9 / 1TB / 460) 15".

One member of staff told me she can 'help me' order it and have it delivered to the store in January. I then pressed her, and another of her colleagues came over, checked their device and they had it. She looked quite embarrassed when I finally walked out with it!

Yes the stores didn't seem to get a delivery today. I'm still on the lookout for stock even though I'm now on my second one. The first was declared DOA with a bad screen and this new one came scratched out the box and has a few other niggles. I was going to put up with it, but it's £2500 so I want it to be right. Luckily we all have until January to return!

Definitely!! It's an expensive purchase and you have to live with it everyday.

I got a unit and the Touch ID was a little loose. Nothing major, but I felt it each time input my finger on it.

Minor hassle, but got another unit and then returned the first unit today.

Just replaced my stock 13'' 512 Pro at Regent St as I had a pink/purple hue in the bottom left hand side of the screen. New one has a good screen but a very slight nick next to a port.

However, they were selling 15'' machines when I was there a couple of hours ago.

What QC issues have you had?

In addition to it being scratched from new (and because it's space grey the scuff is silver):
  • The speaker grilles have been machined/lasered off-centre on the right hand side. Extremely slight but now I've seen it I can't unsee it! :p
  • It came with some white-coloured debris stuck in the hinge that I can't get out. Tried compressed air and tooth pick etc but it's well and truly stuck.
  • The enter/return key feels like it has some crap underneath it because it occasionally barely moves - again, compressed air hasn't fixed.
  • The rubber seal on the left screen hinge area is slightly unstuck/misaligned IMG_9000.JPG
Again, these are all super-minor issues - I'm not professing them to be anything else - and in isolation I would ignore but they add up - and my DOA unit didn't exhibit any of them!

That's not good and I'd be hunting for a replacement. Hopefully, they'll be a huge delivery tomorrow - what spec have you got?

I just have a tiny nick on the left hand side next to the port - maybe it's worth just keeping.

Originally had 13/i7/16/256 (the DOA one) but had to pay the difference and go for 13/i7/16/512 as it was the only comparable spec in store.

So it's a BTO that some stores seem to be stocking meaning I can't even check stock/reserve online. Not ideal.

If anyone is in an Apple Store tomorrow, if they could ask about 13" 16GB availability I would be much obliged.

Looking for a bit of advice UK people... I bought a 13" non-TB model shortly after launch and am suffering from various graphical glitches, intermittently which require a reboot. Having been through the usual suggestions and in talking with their online support team, they've said I need to take it in for repair.

I bought this one a few days before the holiday returns window opened, so I can't just return it under buyer's remorse to get a replacement or alternative model. Where does that leave me with options in UK consumer law and what Apple tend to do? Do I just need to give them a chance to repair it or does the fact its under 30 days old give me some more options?

"For products purchased after 1 October 2015, a consumer is entitled to a refund for a defective product if the consumer rejects the goods within 30 days or if the product does not conform with the contract after one repair or replacement"

Not sure if this applies across the board or not?

I'll probably go tomorrow morning to give it a shot. Which one mate? Base with 16gb touchbar?
I'm looking for 13" Touch Bar with an i7 and 16GB - I believe they only stock that with 512GB but you never know that might change. Not fussed on colour. Cheers mate! :)

Dixons at the airport is discounting the non touch bar model by 200 pounds and the touch bar model by 50 pounds. They say only this week

Even the online pickup option on the app/website isn't accurate. I spoke with a local store this morning who confirmed the stock online was correct - i.e. they had none for pickup until 5th Jan. My colleague has just come back with that exact model from the store. It was showing as low stock but they had some in. So the only way to be sure is to pop in unfortunately which I know is easier said than done.

Is it possible the stores have a few units of each not showing online so they always have something for walk-ins?

I just went to trafford centre and arndale centre to see if they had the base 13inch mbp with touchbar, but they had 0 in stock.

My had to give back my mbp 13inch with touchbar because of some defect. Basically, whenever I try to type the password in it won't let me - kinda like it freezes.

This is so annoyong. I feel theirs some major quality control issues going on

Ive been holding out ordering the new MacBook Pro as I couldn't decide between 13" or 15". Just want to hold them both before making a decision. (Local store has 13" non TBs but not 15")

Anyone seen them both in UK store yet?

Not both - Cambridge had 13" TB on display in both colours last week (and some stock at the time but not the BTO 16GB I'm after). I assume the display models are still there...

So from what I understood from Apple Store at Regeant's Street, they will always get the same models in stock:

- Base (the base model in the online store)
- Medium (the upgraded model in the online store)
- High (same as medium but with a upgraded processor and 1TB)

Anything other than this they will never stock, period, it has to go through the Online store

When do the macbooks get shipped to the stores? Is every Monday? because no stores near me had base mbp 13inch tb stock...

They get deliveries every day bar Sunday apparently (no guarantees of what is on each shipment though).

Watford have 0 512GB 13 or 15 models in stock. They had a few 256GB non-touchbar 13" in stock.
