Right now this is all they offer. I wish that would change, and I don’t understand why not? If you go the normal route without the veterans discount and with the month-to-month AppleCare, full payment would be almost the same at check out with the veterans discount. But one has to add up all those payments over the 2 year period. If you keep it that long. 🤪
That's the thing I bought my iphone 14 pro through the vet page, financed from my carrier. That option was available the day of, but I'm not seeing those options on that website.

How it works is that you finance the iphone from ATT but you pay the cheaper amount from Apple and ATT gives you the discount automatically on your bill. I don't know if they got rid of all together this time, but I would have to wait until friday either way.

My usual strategy is to use UPS My Choice to request a hold at the local UPS CC and drive over to pick it up after morning rush hour. I've never had more than 1 person in front of me in line at the CC.
For some reason there is a change the UPS shipping and last major item (MacBook Pro) I was not able to hold at UPS CC. I am hoping this will change but Im counting on not being able to hold the shipment on that Friday :(. Also a separate note, this might be the last iPhone launch you will be able to pick up at the UPS CC. I was given a heads up that a large number of UPS CC are being eliminated in favor of the UPS Stores this coming October :(

It's better anyways, UPS CC's are empty and UPS stores are the same, I have to dig deep on the app to find that option but the only disadvantage is the UPS stores close earlier and open later then CC's.

I think they've significantly improved the purchasing on pre-order day. Certainly there will be some who disagree with that as there are always issues, especially when there are unresolved carrier related account problems.

I have been ordering through Apple for maybe a decade now, I quit carrier orders when AT&T canceled my order with no known reason when I called to try to get launch day delivery reinstated. Apple orders have been great, especially when IUP makes for a seamless process with the "get ready" steps already done.
This has happened to me also and now I don't like the waiting for delivery because UPS drivers deliver close to end of day and it's way better for me to pick up locally usually.

My wife and I are all set for our pre-order Friday. 16P 256 in Titanium for me and 16P 256 in White for my wife.

However, part of me wants to try the pro max again. I tried the max version when it first came out on the XS (I think?) and I used it for 3 days before deciding it was just too big for me. However, I really want insane battery life. I am toying with switching to that. However, if I dont like it, its such a PITA because of the upgrade program and how they cancel and redo everything. Hmmm

Anyone make the jump last year or making the jump this year?

I didn't see any option for delivery vs. pickup when I did the pre-order today. Hopefully that option shows up on Friday.

I will not do a send your device for trade any more due to a terrible experience. I traded in a prior gen iPad Air towards the new iPad air recently. A third party, not Apple, handles the trade in process, btw, if you send it in the box they provide. After they received it, I got an email from Apple saying they changed the amount of the trade in credit by cutting it in half. No reason was given in the email. After contacting some CSRs at Apple (it took forever to get to one who cold help on the trade in) they told me it was changed due to some defects on the screen. I was flabbergasted. There were no defects on the screen. After speaking to a number of folks, it turned out there was some dust particles or such on the screen. They never really inspected it. They opened the box, saw some white spots and determined the trade in value was worth half of what i was told during the check out purchase. It took hours on the phone with Apple CSRs to get a review of the iPad and get the original original trade in price credited to my account. Never again.

I concur, I do all trade in transactions at Apple Store (fortunately I live with 15 minutes of one).

It has been tricky to find the CC option at times. Strange that it has been easy some years, and some years I have to call UPS to make the change.

UPS delivery at my home is very late, usually in the evening. I have no desire to wait that long.

According to the UPS app, UPS stores won't have it until the next day as it has to be delivered from the CC to the UPS Store.

Fingers crossed I can get it again at the CC.

If I recall correctly, last year, we were unable to hold the package at a CC like in previous years.

So if I do the trade in, with delivery to my home.... I can still take the trade in phone to the store..... right!?

However, since it will be launch time and the stores will be busy.... how does that work? I don't think there's an option to made a trade in appt online? So you just have to stand in the line?

I’ve never needed an appointment.

One time I had to go back because Apple decided to do a software update on the Saturday of the new iPad Pro release.

I think you have 20 days or so to trade the phone in by mail. I can't imaging it would change much if you decide to bring the phone into the store.

Order online without ticking the box for trade-in. Once you receive your phone, go the Apple Store To do the in person trade-in, and the original form of payment for the new phone will be credited with the trade-in amount received.
I usually select trade in and get the box, but I go to the store anyway.

I also use a different card so I can keep the Apple Card cash back. A little trick the guy at the store taught me

I'd forgotten that last year I was out of town and allowed the phone to be delivered.

In 2022 I remembered that it was tricky to find the CC option, but I think i arranged it via a phone call to UPS.

Looks like i'll have to order something UPS overnight morning delivery to get them here early if I can't arrange the CC visit.

edit: Wow, either prices have gone way up or the UPS overnight several years ago I received was paid for by the shipper rather than by me.

I’ll try that and see if it works with my carrier Verizon

How do you preorder online and do the trade-in later at an Apple store?
I do not believe I've ever done a trade in with a new iPhone purchase. I have traded for a gift card I used with Mac and iPad in store purchases.

I do know that I've been well served when trading in while in the Apple Store.

Hope I make 10/20 delivery, has only happened once since I’ve been rocking with the iPhone.
10/20?!?!?!??! Please don't tell me it takes that long. Is it better just walking into the store and getting one? They don't have massive lines anymore like years ago.

How does a trade-in at an Apple Store look like?

Say I select "In-Store Pick-Up" for my iPhone 16 Pro, do they take it from you immediately after purchasing the iPhone 16 Pro? Wouldn't you need your old phone to transfer data to your new iPhone?
