They’ll automatically bill you for it unless you get them to waive it. They always tell me it’s a one time exception but I think they’ve waived it every year.
my first time upgrading with verizon..... so i hope i can get a waiver for our two phones! i wasn't always successful with at$t in the past.

speaking of verizon.... this is also my first time ordering a non carrier phone... in the past I always just ordered at$t phones even once i started buying them outright.... how is that going to work when i start to set it up? I assume there will be a step that asks for carrier and phone number?

I’ve always ordered a carrier-connected phone from Apple so not sure but because I chose Verizon when I ordered it automatically activates on the Verizon network.

Anyway. For anyone interested, I got the 16 Pro from Verizon.

Scheduled delivery is Friday and looks like it is shipping to me (in the Northeast) from West Chester, PA.

I was hoping some of you with further out dates like me were going to stick around to check in a bit! Mine says oct 8-15 🤦‍♀️ which is disappointing a bit but oh well. Living in a very rural state where the closest Apple Store is not even in the state makes for a “get what you get” scene lol. Look forward to following it with you guys if you choose to 😊
Oct 7-14 here. Nothing at all yet

Just got to thinking - I feel like in years past, when checking out in the Apple Store, it would make me login in to my T-Mobile account to verify the line I was upgrading. It didn't do that this year, just selected carrier. Am I misremembering? I am just curious if it's automatically going to assume that I am replacing on the same line the phone I am trading in is on (I'm on IUP). I don't want to have to call T-Mobile customer service on iPhone launch day. That sounds awful and time consuming.

Has anyone with a Louisville scan seen an update to tracking on the Apple website? My phone is shipping to my office, so I’ve been watching y’all have fun completely blind. Waiting to figure out when my phone is in the states :(

Edit: typo lol

I think you'll see an Apple tracking state change starting sometime tomorrow. Sign up for UPS My Choice to see your tracking info.

my tracking with ups and reference number only shows
On the Way

Estimated delivery: Friday, September 20 by 7:00 P.M.

i cant expand to see any more details. how are you guys able to see all the scans from overseas and originating info

My tracking page doesn’t say a signature is required. If they try to deliver it and no one’s home, will they leave it at the door?
Not likely. In the past I’ve left a note, with the tracking number and my full name and signature asking them to leave it and it’s worked every time.

I believe mine asked me to confirm the line I was replacing but it was just a check the box next to my phone number kinda thing. Easy to blow past. Verizon.

I've never had them leave it at the door, even with a note unfortunately. Last year I even printed and signed a release from UPS' website and they didn't leave it. UPS customer care said that Apple's requirements didn't allow for it.

T-Mobile on iUP here too... I'm the primary accountholder and was not asked to verify anything other than the phone number on my account during preorder, but my SO had to enter our account PIN in order to complete his.

Exactly the info I was given. I miss the days when Apple provided a release form you could print out, sign, and place on the door or your gate or whatever. Must have had too many theft claims.
