What site did you order it from, Apple or one of the carriers like Verizon or AT&T?
That part I'm not sure of - the only in store trade in I've ever done have been phones on the upgrade program.
Anyone else have a delivery date of Sept 20 and still “preparing to ship”?

No @LowerWolf ordered an AT&T Carrier iPhone 16 via Apple. Maybe it is coming from Lebanon, TN where Apple has a large warehouse.
On a related note 2 of my iPhone 16 Pro units are coming directly from AT&T Ft Worth via FedEx and FedEx has them. So yes the Carriers are receiving their direct bulk orders.

I ordered Friday morning (right after preorders went live) from Apple. Unlike others, I had nothing showing on my UPS MyChoice; but Apple's website has Sept. 20 as the delivery date, with the familiar preparing to ship message since Saturday.
I checked MyChoice a little bit ago for an unrelated package and saw the one from Apple (AI) listed now. It says it's shipping from Lebanon, TN (Nashville, essentially) but UPS doesn't have it yet. It doesn't show any tracking info prior to that, so I don't have all the fun tracking others have from China. I suppose it could be going from Louisville to Nashville?
Everyone will still show that until tomorrow. The phones began to transit from China late this past weekend. Once they clear customs in Kentucky, you will be provided tracking information from Apple. If you have a confirmed UPS MyChoice account, the phone tracking info would have been populated there days ago.
For me, yes. I have to make sure those drivers don't get into trouble

Struck out.
Fairly new person working there, and she was the only person there. She said, and I don’t know if any of it is true, that it is a UPS thing that they cannot put the hold on it at the CC. She then said I could call my shipper or the or the UPS number and have an intercept done on it to hold at the cc but she couldn’t put that in there. She did look up the tracking number that I gave to her, it has not cleared customs yet but she gave me an estimated delivery between 1115 to 315 on Friday, whereas the UPS customer center doesn’t open till 11 o’clock on Friday anyway. she did suggest that I could call UPS later and try to get it intercepted, so I’m sure I will just try to have it intercepted tomorrow after it clears customs.
