I plan on ordering a 16 Pro Max as an upgrade for my wife's iPhone 13 Pro Max. We are on a 3 year upgrade schedule; I'll get the 17 next year to upgrade my 14 Pro Max.

Since we fly out for vacation on September 20th I don't need delivery on the 20th. My daughter will be house and dog sitting and can put it somewhere safe but we don't return until October 10th.

I won't be getting up at 5:00 AM to place a preorder. How long would I need to wait after 5 AM on Friday to get an estimated delivery close to October 10th? Thanks.

You can set up the pre order. Click finance and it will bring up all the carriers. Very last one is Verizon and it will verify your account. If you are trading in it will give the total discounts, ask if you want to put money down and then to total amount due.

Delivery and to pickup won’t be available until tomorrow. Yes you’ll get a box
Perfect thanks for the help!

Edit: forgot to ask, at any point am I locked into the order? Or not until tomorrow? I'm trying to see different options of phones and plans

I usually select trade in and get the box, but I go to the store anyway.

I also use a different card so I can keep the Apple Card cash back. A little trick the guy at the store taught me
do you have to stand in line or wait to turn in the trade in, in store? there's always a line for a week or 2 after a new phone comes out!

Hi All-

Wanting to get either some direction or confirmation on the best way to preorder tomorrow. I’m part of the upgrade program and have already been preapproved.

In the past years I typically just go to the iPhone app but have never been able to get in until at least 10-20 minutes after the preorder started leading to missing the launch day delivery.

So my question to the group is:

Is it better to open the app just before the 8AM EST and just leave it open or should I be opening and force closing it over and over again? Or should I only open the app a few seconds past 8AM EST?

I’ve been doing this for several years now and keep thinking I’m missing something.

Thanks in advanced for any advice!
open and close the app over and over works for me. I'm usually able to get in, in a minute or two at most. I usually have my phone and ipad(s) ready too just incase i need to switch for what ever reason. MacBook is also on but it's been years since I've used it to order.

Does anyone know what the steps are to pre-order once you get into the Apple Store App at 5AM PDT?

Like, do I go to "For You" page and then tap the selected saved iPhone 16 Pro that I want and then add that to the cart?

Why is it go to the Apple app now and reserve the phone now so at 5 AM you oeont the app, click “view your order” and press complete

I did my pre-order Monday just like I did the last 5 years. Last year, it took me THREE hours to finalize it on that Friday morning and missed launch day by almost 2 weeks. I kind of expect that same thing tomorrow morning.

It seems Apple is never ready for this.

.
The range of experience I've had is amazing. From store opening immediately at the designated time and order complete with several clicks to repeatedly being kicked out of the process. Recent years, with IUP, it has been quick and easy. It has been some time since my order made me think Apple wasn't ready.

I used to use the AT&T site to order. Now that was painful! I had numerous issues with them, including when they canceled my Launch Day order just a day or two before I was to pick it up at their store. I moved on to T-Mobile (for much better coverage in most places I spend time in during my travels) but also to ordering through Apple.

I open the app at 8 am and keep closing and reopening until I'm in.
I'd love to hear from an official source if the closing and reopening actually speeds the process.

Tomorrow I plan to have iPhone, iPad, and at least two Macs with Apple Store app or web pages open. I'll leave several just to update on their own, and several I'll close and reopen. Should be interesting. lol

I stopped using carrier sites after the iPhone 6 disaster. Never again.

It seems every year is a bit different, but with the "get ready" phone I recall when the Store let me know I was connected that it would ask if i want to complete the order.

One of my hints is to make sure to log into the Store with the correct AppleID before the store goes into hibernation tonight. One time it wanted me to log back in and wouldn't complete that step. I use different AppleIDs for Apple Support community, developer account, and my iCloud+ ID. Apple, I would love to be able to merge those into my preferred ID, but I have been waiting at least 15 years so far to see that.

But I’m going to be getting my new phone delivered to my house. I just wanted to do the trade in at the store over the weekend.

OH. Gotcha. Yes. As long it's explained to the store rep that its part of the iPhone upgrade program. I had an issue last year where the rep mistakenly put the trade in to my card [+$650 in my bank] instead of towards to the upgrade program. Never realized until to late.

Once the Apple Store App opens up, do I go to the "For You" page and select the iPhone that I pre-saved and then add to cart?

yeah, there were multiple disasters in those earlier years using AT&T site. I think it was the 6 that I had to go to Best Buy to get a phone on launch day after AT&T canceled my order. To get one that day i had to get the wrong color, the wrong storage capacity, and several days later I found Best Buy had charged me an additional $75 that I didn't notice at the early hour of the launch. I did get them to refund the extra, but it was very frustrating to have to deal with that.

The IUP is definitely the way to go in recent years!

There used to be far fewer options when buying a phone.

Earliest years only had buying a locked phone with a contract with AT&T. It was much easier to know what the rules for ordering were in the next few years. Now there are so many different plans with many different carriers and Apple Card and IUP and and and... . lol

I'm pretty sure with a "get ready" phone order created before the store goes down tonight, that when the store opens Friday morning and you're logged into your correct AppleID it'll know you have a pre-order prepared and will ask if you want to complete it.

Before the "get ready" process you could select a phone and configuration and save it to "favorites" to be accessed when the store opened. That is not available now, maybe that returns after Launch Day.

Thanks so much for replying!

This was the step that had me most anxious as I really want to fly through check out and get an ISPU time lol

yes go to For You, or ask siri to 'pre order my iPhone' and it'll pull up. on the website it'll be at the top of the bag under 'saved for preorder' or on the account page

You’re right . I just might do that . & yeah middle school is more ideal. I really thought about just getting him a iPad mini but when he’s with his Dads side of the family, I want to be able to contact him wherever they’re at if necessary 🙂 so a phone made more sense.
have you considered an SE version for someone so young? and a REALLY STURDY case! like an otterbox! i mean "I" drop my phone! you know a little boy is going to drop his!

Don't wait too long. The delivery dates get pushed back pretty quickly. If you wait until 6am or later, the delivery could be pushed out well beyond October 10th. If it were me, I'd just have my daughter put them someplace safe unless you're ok getting it whenever.
