No worries it tends to happen every year. And Apple and UPS are always making changes that seem to just be seat of the pants or on the fly. The Saturday re-delivery attempt varied widely this year. Some UPS markets had no way to manage the Modification to the shipping introduced by UPS in Louisville on Friday.

Oh yea, UPS failed to deliver on Friday so they tried to update for Saturday delivery on mine, but the left hand (UPS customer relations) did not know the right hand (UPS hub) was closed on Saturdays.

This was futile and further irritated me...

Not even sure if I'm going to order the 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max in Black Titanium which I can't seem to find anywhere. Been trying to order it for pick up. I travel for work. So I rather pick up from the store.

Keep checking every morning before the Apple store is about to open - they refresh inventory daily.

When you see what you want, just pay for it and then go into the Apple Store.

I did that on Saturday the day after launch and glad I paid ahead of time for it because when I got there many people who had lined up for walk in purchase were turned away because the entire line of Pro and Pro Max were sold out.

I got mine and other people in line were asking how I got it - told them I paid for it in the morning.

This has been the most aggravating iPhone order experience I've ever had. I pre-ordered a black 16 Pro Max on the app. It went out for delivery via UPS on launch day (last Friday), but UPS simply never showed up. No explanation or anything; the tracking updated to "Delayed, will attempt next business day," again with no specific reason. They then attempted a Saturday delivery but I had a prior commitment and missed that (since I didn't anticipate a delay. Silly me, right). Tracking then updated to Monday delivery, and my brother stayed home to sign for it. Tracking showed "out for delivery" all day, but UPS did not show up once again (it showed "Out for delivery up until 10pm last night).

This time I contacted Apple and they requested a hold for pick up. The specialist told me UPS would still honor that second delivery attempt before initiating the hold, but I woke up today and the tracking showed that it was requested already. I chatted with Apple again and they told me that the package won't be available to pick up from the hub until tomorrow (9/25). Awesome, right? No. I, like many folks, have to work regular business hours tomorrow. The hub is only open 10am-6pm… my work hours.

So, in all likelihood, I won't be able to pick up my phone until Thursday (9/26). Six days after the initial ETA. I am… annoyed, disappointed, and irked at the lack of clear communication from UPS. None of the tracking scans seem consistent. Yeah, this is a first-world problem, but that's not a small amount of money floating in the ether. Never again will I opt for delivery for an Apple product.

I ordered a DT 512 PM about 1am on the 16th. Shipping Oct 8-15th. Went from processing to preparing to ship on the 21st with a pending charge on my card, cancel order button was gone. Then went back to processing on the 22nd, cancel option back, and hasn’t changed since. Charge still pending.

Me too, I got all excited when the cancel order went away but then it came back 😂 my card hasn’t ever had a charge yet so who knows. I ordered on the 16th too and have same shipping date

Concerning update? UPS told me that the reason it wasn't delivered is because the driver couldn't find it on their truck. They recommended I submit a claim to put a tracer on the package since it hasn't been physically scanned in 24 hours, but I can't even do that since it still shows as in-transit. I'm chatting with Apple now and if they can't get me a clear answer as to where this $1000 package is, I'm asking them to just refund the order so I can try my luck at nabbing phone at a physical store.

"After the first delivery attempt UPS allows you to redirect delivery to a UPS retail location. Do you normally order $1000 items and just expect the carrier to just drop it at your door?"

This is not true. My wife had two failed delivery attempts on Friday/Saturday and they still wouldn't let it be picked up.
Same for me. My only option was "Return to sender" (also confirmed by 2 different UPS reps).

Is that the last scan that you have through UPS? I have something similar. I’ve been told by a UPS rep that if it hasn’t been scanned in the last 48 hours, it was either lost or stolen. When I spoke to Apple this morning, they told me it was company policy that I need to wait for three business days before they will expedite a replacement to me.

Update: Estimated Arrival Oct 3-8. Just moved from Processing to Preparing to Ship. Dates are still the same, but hey, it's progress!
I’m waiting on one more phone, & it has an October 2nd - 7th delivery date. It went to Preparing to Ship last week - maybe Wednesday. I was hoping it would have actually shipped by now but so far, I’ve had nothing showing up in UPS My Choice nor when tracking by reference.

Picked up my Black Titanium 16 pro w/512 GB yesterday at the Apple Store (pre-ordered the first morning). Pickup was pretty smooth. I just picked up the phone and a new magnetic charger. Setup at home went very smoothly, although just as slow as always. The eSims were transferred without any hitches. But it literally took ALL DAY to set up my new phone, and turn my old 15 pro into my wife's "new" phone. I started around 11 AM, and finally finished everything around midnight. It amazes me how slow backups/restores still run. You'd think they could make these data transfers run faster between the iPhone and my PC. I guess maybe they want everyone to use the cloud? Is that faster than using a PC for backups? I honestly doubt it, but I've never actually tried it, so don't know. I guess it doesn't help that I still use iTunes for my 9000+ songs, and refuse to pay for Apple Music or Spotify.
I got my phone on launch day around noon, when I was heading out of town for a cat show. I brought it with me but had read about the issues people were having & couldn’t be without a phone, so didn’t do the transfer over the weekend. I got home late Sunday night & decided to get it started so it had all night to work. I selected the restore from iCloud backup option. I’m using 500GB space on the phone, most of it in pictures. The eSIM transfer went smoothly & the watch didn’t have to be unpaired - it was just on the new phone. The phone was ready for me after about 20 minutes. It was still downloading apps & probably pictures but the phone itself was working & I could do whatever on it.

That's what I've been hearing and I don't want to go through that headache. Like someone already suggested that I check early in the morning before Apple Store open and make the purchase online for pick up. Makes sense to me.

Have you seen a charge or pending charge on your credit card yet?

Well, this is the tardiest I’ve ever been to the party! It’s the first time, since I switched from Android (2017), that I didn’t get one on launch day.

I’ve been going back and forth, for the past two weeks… trying to decide on Desert or Black. Today, I FINALLY settled on the Black Pro Max. Ive had every gold iPhone, since the Xs Max… I think I needed a change, and Desert just isn’t doing it for me!

Apple says it’s estimated to arrive 10/6-10/23, any chance it’ll ship sooner?

Oops! I meant ***10/16-10/23 lol. So, it’s a 7 day window.
If you have an Apple Store close by, you can probably get ISPU well before 10/16. I just checked on a Black Ti 16PM 512GB and I could pick up tomorrow. I’m in the Los Angeles area so quite a few stores in my area. Good luck!

I think I'm going to wait. Trying to get a Black Titanium 16 Pro Max has been a freaking headache. They were trying to convince me to get one under another color. No I want Black Titanium. Nothing else.

I was able to pick up my phone last night at the UPS location. Success!

For those wondering, my initial shipment prediction was Sept 30-Oct 2. So things are moving quicker than expected, although I know your mileage will vary.

For anyone that wants to pick up their phone from UPS, talk to Apple now. It took multiple days for the request to reach UPS.
