This has been the most aggravating iPhone order experience I've ever had. I pre-ordered a black 16 Pro Max on the app. It went out for delivery via UPS on launch day (last Friday), but UPS simply never showed up. No explanation or anything; the tracking updated to "Delayed, will attempt next business day," again with no specific reason. They then attempted a Saturday delivery but I had a prior commitment and missed that (since I didn't anticipate a delay. Silly me, right). Tracking then updated to Monday delivery, and my brother stayed home to sign for it. Tracking showed "out for delivery" all day, but UPS did not show up once again (it showed "Out for delivery up until 10pm last night).
This time I contacted Apple and they requested a hold for pick up. The specialist told me UPS would still honor that second delivery attempt before initiating the hold, but I woke up today and the tracking showed that it was requested already. I chatted with Apple again and they told me that the package won't be available to pick up from the hub until tomorrow (9/25). Awesome, right? No. I, like many folks, have to work regular business hours tomorrow. The hub is only open 10am-6pm… my work hours.
So, in all likelihood, I won't be able to pick up my phone until Thursday (9/26). Six days after the initial ETA. I am… annoyed, disappointed, and irked at the lack of clear communication from UPS. None of the tracking scans seem consistent. Yeah, this is a first-world problem, but that's not a small amount of money floating in the ether. Never again will I opt for delivery for an Apple product.
