unless their next 5.5 iPhone gets actual FEATURES that take advantage of a bigger screen i dont see the reason to use anything more than 4.7 tbh. i am already annoyed that my iPhone 6 is bigger than my old nexus 4 with the same screen size. could have fit a 5.0 screen in there almost

iPhone 6+ has (software) features that the iPhone 6 has not - many apps (including Apples) make use of the bigger screen in ways that are not available on the iPhone 6. Also the better battery is a big plus.

I have an iPad mini too, for when I want a larger screen... laying on a couch.

I (and millions of others) also want a decent sized screen on a device that we can pocket.

That's because the "phone" we carry is not just a phone. It's "an iPod, a Phone, and an Internet Communicator", as Jobs said. (Jobs refused at first to call it a mobile computer, but that's also what it is, perhaps even more than the others at times.)

My iPad mini is mostly unused since I have the 6+ ... didn't expect it first, but it the 6+ screen is big enough for me (but thats me, others might see it different) - it is just the few 'iPad only' apps that make me pick it up from time to time (hope they get a 6+ port soon)

The iPhone 6 IS a two-handed phone. Soooooo inconvenient compared to my 4. Wish Apple didn't force us into this phablet world.

Ironic comment seeing as a lot of people were complaining about Apple forcing them to use smaller screens for many years.

Even though Apple's stock is rocketing up, I think folks don't realize how popular this phone is. Demand is still heavily constrained. Many buyers, perhaps even MOST, will not bother to buy a phone if they can't walk into the store, pick from a full selection of sizes and colors, then walk out with their phone set up by the clerk. We are far away from that being an available world wide experience for the iPhone 6 and 6+.

Will Apple even get to demand stability in the U.S. by the end of this year? Apple's own online store is still offering 3 to 4 weeks for 6+ and 7 to 10 business days for the 6. It must be bad for the little independently owned wireless stores. They probably have zero stock and they aren't getting any real stock this year.

For your baby hands, it probably is. I have a 6+ and I can handle it one-handed quite well.

If your hand can handle the 6+ one-handed and do itCOMFORTABLY, then apparently, your hands are not-normal sized. One handed means that you don't have to slide or perform yoga tricks with your fingers to reach certain areas. One handed also means that you have enough reach (without sliding the phone down) to never ever use the reachability double tap feature. That said most Android phones nowadays with decently sized screens are not built for one-handed use either (except maybe the 2013 Moto X). The last one-handed smart phone was truly the iphone 5S.

Could someone do a statistical analysis to estimate the effect that the $100 price increase has on iPhone 6 Plus adoption?

You can adapt to one handed operation. You just sort of learn to toss the phone around in your hand to reach things.

"Reachability" isn't very useful - I find it nearly impossible to reach anything on the left edge with my thumb. So you just kind of toss it to the part of the screen you want to interact with.

But one-handed typing is pretty hard.

I haven't tried that Reachability feature much yet in the stores. I suspect a redesign of the apps to put all controls to the bottom may help. Safari already does this mostly.

My hands are a bit on the large size, I guess. I've handled the iPhone 6 and it still feels comfortable to me.

Well, I can see this. The 6 has a great size IMO. I am very tall and have big hands, so the 6+ isn't so big for me but for someone average size I can see being too large.
One thing too is to cary it around your pocket. The 6+ might be too awkward.
I am still undecided on this one. But I have time to figure it out until the 6S comes up next year.

Let's flip this around. What if the 6 is selling so well that they always make sure to increase supply for it and keep a ratio of 3:1 manufacturing-wise?

Except that isn't the case. APple misjudged 6+ demand and setup manufacturing well in favor of the 6. Proof is in the reports here on their adjusting manufacturing ratios.

6+ is AWESOME. First phone that fits my large hands well!

Gut the phone out of the 6 Plus, keep the LTE data. iPad nano. Boom! I would buy one in a new york minute! But too much to carry around as a telephone.

I actually bought a 6 plus but exchanged it for a regular 6. It was just too big for my tastes and almost embarrassing to use in public. Now that I have the 6, I think it's the perfect size -- a good amount bigger than the 5 but still usable with one hand. Couldn't be happier with this phone.

I agree I have rather large hands (7'1") and I'll admit it was hard adjusting coming from an iPhone 5 but 2 weeks later I just can't go back to anything smaller. Doing one handed operations was a muscle memory issue at first but now I comfortable text with one hand. The beautiful true HD screen and massive battery life are the two things that make the Plus a must have over the regular 6.

Wow, 91%? Their margins are going to be ridiculous this quarter! I'm pretty stoked.

The other thing to consider is many potential early Android upgraders aren't on the same cycle as iPhone upgraders, as I believe many of the new Galaxy models come out in the spring, right? It will be interesting to see what happens as more people come upon their upgrade eligibility.

Makes sense, especially for USA.

I absolutely love my Plus, though, and will never go back to a smaller phone. :D

I have a 6 and an iPad Air. Haven't really felt the need for an in-between screen size. Although I like the 6+, it's too bulky in the front jeans pocket.

The 6+ is a great size, IMO, after owning one for over a month. I'm sure the little 6 is fine to, if you're into that kind of thing.

I don't think we know people's preferences yet. Supply constraints are still having a big impact on the numbers. Now, I don't think it will go to 50/50 maybe 75/25 in favor of the 6.

But it wouldn't surprise me if people go larger over time. So, e.g., maybe the 7 and 7+ sell in roughly equal numbers at about the same sizes.

The larger size is a lot nicer experience than I thought it would be. I knew how great it would be to have such a large, high-quality screen. But I though there would be more trade-offs: that it wouldn't be comfortably portability and that it would be a little awkward to handle. But it turns out not to really have any downside. I think more people will discover that as they get a chance to see and use both the 6+ and even the 6.

It's funny how these stats prompt people to say which one is better. Apple released two phones - one out sells the other 3 to 1. Oh by the way, we will also reveal that we have production constraints so we don't even know the true ratio but feel free to interpret what these numbers mean.

Bezel needs to be shrunk. Maybe ditched the home button when they move to sapphire screens and have the screens be the fingerprint reader itself.
