Should probably pull text messaging from every phone while we're at it.

Personally, unless U.S Senators have sufficient data to prove otherwise, I feel it's a bit meh for them to be going after phone applications. How about focusing on state budgets, spending, and other idiot politicians???

Also, for us who don't drink and drive... Police Check Points are a pain in the ass. Just like those dang Red Light Cameras

I'm sure I'm beating the same drum as many others but I don't have time to read 13 pages of comments. I hope they don't give in and pull these, DUI checkpoints aren't remotely constitutional (no matter what give/take laws are present), having a app that points out where these mafia-esque shakedowns are taking place is exactly what we need more of in the app-store.

And no, I DON'T support drunk driving (I don't even drink).

This country would have noticeably less drunk driving accidents if they actually provided reliable, good and clean public transportation.

I live in a highly popular suburban area right outside the city and if I didn't have a car, my only other option would be (walking/biking, obviously and...) a taxi.

I love the basic misunderstanding many of you have about constitutional rights, and find it more disturbing how many of you seem to support drunk driving. Get over it, this app should be pulled.
I'd love for you to point out our misunderstanding so I can see you get destroyed in an argument.

How the hell is this anything like that? No one here is being accused of being drunk driver. Stop acting like a damn victim.

Not here, but that's kind of the underlying (insulting) message given off by these traffic stops. Same as when I'm getting onto I66 in the morning in the HOV section, I always have two people in the car, but they still have me slow down practically to a stop on the on-ramp, so I get to use as much gas as possible getting back up to speed for the (short) merge. I get to suffer when I've done nothing wrong; that's not right.

WTF? Why should they take these apps down again?

Because it messes with the revenue model of the city??
The government wants to put people in harms way in order to collect a few dollars from speeders? This is wrong! Awareness is the start of changed behavior! Anyone can tell you that!

**** COPS. you people who believe in this fake excuse of "its for safety" are idiots. Its not about safety, its about the excuse to search and violate rights of American citizens. Everyone is a suspect before there's even a crime. You are guilty until proven innocent. and the funny thing is, most of you think you are free.

I have the right avoid the cops, (FOR ANY REASON) and if an app helps me do that, then theres nothing wrong with it.

Drinking and driving is ridiculous, not the removal of this app. I don't drink so this doesn't apply to me. Just don't be stupid and drive after drinking.

+1

I like how the government acts like they care if people are going to die...LOL. They could care LESS about your sorry ass.

Money always will rule over death, long as we are in the monetary system.

Take the darn app down for christ sake and lets move on, geez.

I live in Nevada and honestly the cops spend more time Giving tickets out then doing real police work. Since the state has been financial hardship, The cops are out drumming up business. Honestly, do you think someone who is Drunk is going to be checking the app for the checkpoints? Its just an excuse to get rid of these apps from the store and increase revenue. Apple dont bend to the pressure, These apps do not break any rules for the App store and if you start letting the Government decide what should and shouldnt be, is the day I finally Jailbreak my Iphone.

Yup! The policing priorities are really screwed up. Lets spend ten's of millions buying radar units for patrol cars so we can catch someone doing 40 in a 35. But someone breaks into your house, and your lucky to have the cops show up to take the report. My car was broken into and I got a Lecture from the officer.

Apparently its easier and safer to harass drivers than it is to catch thieves. I wonder how many check points they would set up if the fine for drunk driving was $100 instead of the thousands it costs now?

This app needs to stay. I don't drink at all nor support drinking and driving, but these are the kinds of policies are the start of bad things.

How on earth can people have a problem with Apple pulling these apps? These checkpoints are to stop people from driving drunk and possibly killing others and themselves. But people would rather complain about "Orwellian" laws that barely inconvenience law-abiding citizens, but save countless lives.

And what exactly is the point of checkpoints if they're announced? The point is to surprise those who are driving drunk, but if they can simply find out where they are and go around them, then they are useless.

And to those who think that anyone drunk enough to fail wouldn't think about using this app, you've got to be kidding. You don't have to be falling over drunk to be too drunk to drive.

Tell that to all those that have lost friends or family members to drunk driving.

I've had my place broken into before and it sucks. But rarely does it result in someone's death. Drunk driving often does.

I am not sure about other states, but in CA, Law Enforcement is specifically required to announce DUI checkpoints and provide an alternative route. Asking to have these applications removed from app stores contradicts the law regarding DUI checkpoints. Gotta love Politicians. Write a law then contradict it. Awesome.

Same in Ohio

Typical Democrats.
But they need to pass many laws to protect you from yourself! Citizens are too stupid to make their own decisions, we need wise lawmakers to pass tons of pointless laws and tell us how to live our lives!! /sarcasm

Miles you make a great point... You also confirm that Apple better pull them, its a pointless app because if your so drunk then you can't operate a phone let alone an app.

It's not a pointless app. The VAST majority of drivers out there are sober. It's a PITA to get caught in the traffic that sobriety checkpoints cause. Besides, all the ones I've ever seen are so obvious from far away that unless you are both drunk and retarded you'll just turn around and take a different route.

I love how this single sentence is supposed to just make people forget their Constitutional rights.

Sorry, bleeding heart. Doesn't work on us.
