I have a trusted source who explained why no White iPhone 4 s are being released. They are only going to be 64GB versions, and at a higher price point ($499 with 2 year agreement).
Not only does the white iPhone look exclusive, but by being 64GB it is also superior.

Personally I think this is a great marketing strategy, and is a killer idea.

The issues with supply of the 64GB memory modules is what is holding up the manufacturing and hence deployment of these phones.

Time to put on the wading boots 'cause the ***** is getting deep in here....trusted source my ass...or maybe that's your source

This is nuts. Why is demand so much higher than for the 3gs?

because the feature set of the iPhone 4, compared to the 3GS, is greater than the feature set of the 3GS over the 3G.

It will suck if they push back the Canada release date :(

The 3GS was a fairly small incremental improvement over the 3G, so a lot of people held out or went android. Much nicer screen and much better camera(s) (plus a new design, better battery, faster processor) make this much more of a jump over the preceding model and actually allow some people (for example, those who carry Flip-type cameras) to drop a device. FaceTime is actually also useful to some people, even if it's limited to wifi.

well because people are sheeple and don't understand the underlying hardware of the iPhone. As such the 3G offered no exterior design change and left users saying "WTF ITS THE SAME AS A 3G WITH AN S ON IT" whilst the iPhone 2G to 3G (with its exterior change and all) was herald as a brand new frontier for smartphones lol, even though the iPhone 3G had more horsepower, a better camera, video recording, voice support, nike+ , 7.2Mbps HSDPA, oilowhatever screen, magnetic compass and better battery life.

Oh and the iPhone 4 is pretty nice too.

At my store atleast, which may or may not be representative of every other store:

One giant line before the store opened.
Five minutes before the store opened, Employee asked everyone in the line to show their printout or checked their name against a printout that the Apple employeeh had with the names of everyone who reserved.

If you did not have a reservation you were moved to a seperate line.

EVERYONE who had a reservation was given priority. This means that the guy who was there for around 10 hours and was 5th in the overall line had to wait behind everyone else, even the joe blows who walked up at 6:59 (but had a reservation).

What printout are we talking about? I got an email saying I have one reserved at a mall by me but it says nothing about my name etc..

Nothing I couldn't just create on Photoshop and say I reserved one..

I just find it funny that so many people on here, just a week ago, were bashing the new iphone. They were saying how much Apple sucked and how old the tech was. They said how great the EVO and Incredible Android phones were. Yes I remember these people saying they were done with ATT and how they were going to order their new Android phones from Verizon and Sprint.

Now these same people are on here complaining about how they couldn't pre order yesterday. Some of these people you will see also complaining about the iphone still, about how it's really not very good. Then in another thread they are upset that they couldn't get a phone on launch day.

NOTE: I am not saying that everyone who is complaining about not making the deadline is one of these people. I just find it funny that the people who were bashing Apple and ATT are now in this thread complaining that they couldn't reserve a phone yesterday.

You don't have to activate the phone!!!! You can have it sit in a box for 10 years!!! AT&T doesn't come and chase you down if you don't activate it right after Fed Ex drops it off.

Silly people.
Did you even read the confirmation e-mail:

"As soon as your iPhone ships, we'll send you additional information, including your phone number. Once you have your iPhone, activating and syncing it is simple. "

You may not activate it yourself, but there will be a phone number attached to it under YOUR name.

Boy, people like you are in for a rude awakening come June 24.

Why did AT&T have to make almost EVERYBODY upgrade eligible for the launch day? It's nice that they gifted all those people an advance on their upgrade, but couldn't they have spread them out over the month of July?

Why did Apple have to make a new iPhone?

If you used the Apple Store App on the iPhone it's in your name under your Apple ID. That's how I got mine, I can only assume if you reserved one on the website you still had to log in somehow. It's all under your apple ID.

Let's all laugh again at Ballmer....

Sure.

I'm just going to wait until I can easily stroll into a Apple store and buy one. I'm not a man child who feels the need to have things right this instant and gets angry when I have to wait a few days for a new electronic device to come.

No one needs an iphone 4, all of this crying about not getting it right this instant is pretty sad.

you know what will suck?

Activation Day when all of these phones come in everyone knows AT&T's servers will fail yet again!

The servers went down last year and that was with less initial volume. There is no way launch day will see a lot of happy people with activated phones. You can take that to the bank.

Agreed! Patience is a virtue!

No, I'm confident that they will arrive.

There are people who keep claiming on the boards that despite this statement:

And this statement "Please note that your reservation will be held until close of business on June 24."

That people who have reserved an iphone should line up at 4am because of fine print at the bottom of the e-mail stating that availability is not guaranteed and is on a first-come, first served basis. My point is that this language is *also* at the bottom of the confirmation e-mail for preorders.

Quick note here. The fine print in my confirmation e-mail states, "Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis".

Isn't "pre-authorization" much different than "reservation"?

Yes, they are different. If you have one reserved it WILL be there for you as long as you pick it up the first day.
