Oh look at all the oh so hip hipsters trying to outdo each other by saying how much they hate a band that they're supposed to hate. "I hate them so much I've never even heard of them!". Whatever. They may not have the best catalog and are not as relevant as they once were... but they were (and are) one of the biggest bands of all time. And although I'm not a huge fan myself, Joshua Tree was and is an absolute masterpiece and always will be. That album be remembered LONG after whatever other crap you and I are listening to today is long dead and forgotten.

True, U2 hasn't been relevant since Joshua Tree (it is a good album BTW). But U2 is basically just another Aerosmith these days, playing to mainly the Baby Boomers, Teeny Boppers, and people who are generally clueless pop fans.

I'm kind of embarrassed that they're rumored to be performing at an Apple keynote event.

If true- I take back literally EVERY nice thing about Tim I've said or thought. This was one of the primary reasons Apple products are pleasing to use- they never come bundled with some bs version of McAfee, Norton, or MS Office- that will harass you & try to extort payment from you after 90 days.
It doesn't come w/ lame demo software. They don't foist other company's propaganda upon you.
F them forever.... sooooooooo hard if my iPhone 6 comes preloaded with any U2 garbage. What total s h i t !
Lol, and would totally show "old white man" taste. Ffs... why pay $3 BILLION dollars to gain street cred by acquiring Dre's company, then immediately piss it all away, inviting these lame irrelevant dinosaurs to possibly the most important event in Apple's history?????????
I hope they do NOT stoop to c level celebrity guests. I will be worlds of ashamed & disappointed.

Clueless pop fans don't even listen to U2. It's mainly for soccer moms and nascar dads to show they are still hip and can get down with the younger generation....accept that the younger generation doesn't listen to U2. LMAO!

Is U2 really this important? How many people's buying decisions will be swayed by this?
I am an Apple fan first and a U2 hater second. I thought they were overrated when they were popular let alone now when they are history.

The hype for this event is getting out of hand. ABC is teasing this as a "historic announcement".

I posted that in another thread btw...

They already have limited time to show us all the cool new stuff so please, don't let U2 have a "significant" part in tomorrows event :S

Maybe when they found out the Intel processors were going to be delayed, the battery life for the watch was going to be dismal, and the OSX and iOS8 developer previews are still full of bugs they thought, "Hey! Let's build a stage!"

Miley Cyrus twerking on Tim Cook would be better.
U2 is to attract the seniors who are becoming Apples target market.

That's why an old band that plays old beats is going to replace Steve Jobs, the only showman that appealed to all generations. Why feature the product alone when you can attract the sixty year olds.

They're hiding Dr Dre and Jimmy B, they're too risky to front the event.

I'm so looking forward to tomorrows event. But if that big white thing is just a stage for U2 to perform, and their album is included by default on the new iPhone, and they take up 20 minutes of the 2 hour event, then it really, really, really doesn't change the fact that I'm so looking forward to tomorrow's event.

Maybe U2 will show up....

and Tim will punch them in the face. Then tell them they suck, that would go over well.

And I really can't see Apple pre-load anything unless it's a (red) iPhone.

I'd not take it too personally; I bet 95% of these people haven't even heard of Hanson and Chesney Hawkes, let alone U2 - that's okay with me - not our loss. I wonder if they've heard of Fleetwood Mac... no, never mind - don't wanna confuse them too much :p

Sick feeling in my stomach now.

If true, I think Apple has finally "jumped the shark".

Are you suggesting those of us who are disappointed by U2's involvement should think twice? Please. Like many here I like to conflate Bono's personal political views with his music, even when one has nothing to do with the other. Because it makes me feel better. Because my musical tastes are based on Pitchfork, and we all know what musical aesthetes the Pitchfork staff are.

I never made that suggestion at all. I really don't care what you do and do not listen to. Or what you like and don't like.

I was simply highlighting from your original comment that you had no idea what you were talking about.

What are you talking about ?

All these type of comments really puzzle me.

Because Apple is doing Product ( Red ) you're mad ? Apple's been doing product stuff with Bono/U2 for a long time. It's nothing new.

Wow.

Look people. The Flint Center For the Performing Arts is just that. It was built for performance's. There would be no reason to have U2 perform outside or in that white structure. The Flint Center has much better accoustics.

Well played!

Tim listens to U2 though, so he's got street cred along with the rest of the middle-aged millionaires. So cool.

The "seniors" are the 40+ year olds with the brains - the ones who RUN Apple, went to college and learnt skills that involved PHYSICAL MATERIALS (Jony Ive) and the ones who are in metalwork shops and electronic component design labs, working PHYSICAL materials, whilst the outside world just consumes it all, dribbling over their iPads as they tap on Amazon.com, inbetween watching kitten videos...

What a wasted world.

Clever answer... You asked so I'll do it.

My latitude is 89°59'47.25"S
My longitude is 38°29'22.62"W

That isn't "clever", that's just cocky and supercillious.
