Man.... if all the hype of a mysterious building and all of that secrecy is a.... stage for U2.... im so disappointed.

U2?? Laaaame. This band hasn't been good in over 25 years. Lead singer Bongo can't even sing anymore. They should stay on Classic radio, and far, far away from the Apple event.

Does Apple really need U2 to help promote the IP6 and watch? Seems very Samesung'ish and gimmicky to me.

It's awful. Mind bottling, really.

I was so hyped looking at the "Secret" White building thinking it was for some big "New" product launch.

Now after reading it is simply a stage Apple built for a band to perform on just put my anticipation at an all-time low.
'

No one in the article says its a stage for U2. Could still be a home demo or just about anything

The ever hungry, consuming, blue-glow-faced screen tapping generation. All you know is how to consume, and how to "program" computers with drag and drop...

LOL

Back on topic...

U2 are coming! :D

I guess that the iMac ad with the Rolling Stones was awful too, right? After all the Stones are not current...

I am no U2 fan by any means, but they're still much better than 99% of the popular **** out there.
Popular and current is stuff Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

Hopefully I can delete the album as quickly as I deleted that free Transformers movies I got on a Nexus 7 a few years ago.

Since Steve's departure; we have seen:

- Nike tech integrated into Mac OS.
- Beats purchased by Apple - ok - but brand RETAINED under Apple - WTF.
- Now U2 involvement.

I don't like the way thing's are going... speak of a 4.7" iPhablet, Mac OS X generally stability since Lion has been shoddy. What is going on?

Stop thinking you have to 'catch-up' Apple and well, catch-up with what matters; stability and logical thought.

A professional does not want a fat device in their pocket; they also want a stable piece of equipment. iOS 7 wasn't much over 6 - I am sorry; it just isn't & as a matter of fact; I find it has detracted performance & features.

Mavericks was a mess until 10.9.4 - in both client & enterprise; Yosemite PB2.. yet to be seen.

Apple are loosing the 'just' works; please, do not sell out.

If it is high-resolution audio, the problem is, you'll never be able to hear it on any of the crap headphones or speakers that Beats or Apple sells. So I guess that means all-new headphones, right?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U2_360%C2%B0_Tour

By its conclusion, U2 360° had set records for the highest-grossing concert tour with $736 million in ticket sales, and for the highest-attended tour with over 7.2 million tickets sold.

You're pretty daft.

Are you suggesting those of us who are disappointed by U2's involvement should think twice? Please. Like many here I like to conflate Bono's personal political views with his music, even when one has nothing to do with the other. Because it makes me feel better. Because my musical tastes are based on Pitchfork, and we all know what musical aesthetes the Pitchfork staff are.

That sounds like the most reasonable explanation to me. Bye, bye, Neil Young Pono, we hardly knew ya.

Personally I'm hoping for 48-track 96 Khz in Logic Pro X files (with effects) so I can do my own remixes, I'll just need to pick up an iServerRack™, it'll be great.

My fear is that for the rumored new lossless audio, Apple could charge upwards of $1.99 - $2.99 per song. You'd have to be nuts to repurchase your entire library in the new format, too.

I believe that U2's involvement is related to Hi-Res audio coming to iTunes. Maybe their new single will come pre-loaded in Hi-Res.

IF, and I repeat, IF this is the tie-in, then it would be logical. But if Apple is just pulling a Samsung and planning to use a well-known artist to create publicity, then I think it's a poor decision and a waste of everybody's time.

Let's hope that Apple is actually delivering something that moves the world forward with respect to U2 and not just something gimmicky.

Oh look at all the oh so hip hipsters trying to outdo each other by saying how much they hate a band that they're supposed to hate. "I hate them so much I've never even heard of them!". Whatever. They may not have the best catalog and are not nearly as relevant as they once were... but they were (and are) one of the biggest bands of all time. And although I'm not a huge fan myself, Joshua Tree was and is an absolute masterpiece and always will be. That album be remembered LONG after whatever other crap you and I are listening to today is long dead and forgotten. And of course they'll only be playing at the end. And I really can't see Apple pre-load anything unless it's a (red) iPhone.

+1 for Pitchfork and Warp Records music--real music.

Not some made for radio, chick-rock, U2 pop.

Imagine the worst possible marketing by Apple for the new wearable:

"I'm getting the new iWatch! Are U2?"

This would also be excellent. Hey Apple, you better be raising the bar and not just re-interating the same old bar again and again. Step up onto the stage and show the world how music should be done ... again. :)

I just think this is stupid. I don't want any crap on my phone taking up space. This is what Microsoft does not Apple.

This is what Microsoft OEM's do, not Microsoft itself.

----------

Maybe the big surprise is that Apple is making a Google Glass competitor, and that's what Bono has been testing for the past 15 years with those big, stupid glasses?

Brilliant! So when they say it's called iWatch, it's not because of an actual time keeping device for your wrist, it's for your eyes to look around and watch things with your eyes!

Today, I decided to actually listen to the lyrics to one of the songs that I've heard a million times before on a local radio station and was shaking my head at the singer repeating the same words over and over and over and over and over... and people think that is good music?

If U2s new album is on the iPhone 6 and for some stupid reason can't be removed. I am going to android, seriously Apple don't f&*k this up.:eek:
