Ultrawide vertical is a bit extreme I think 16:9 vertical is already not bad.

Yes that might be a challenge!

Cancelled my estimated mid November order for m1 pro and got upgraded to the 16 inch m1 max from Costco with price similar to the student discount but with extra warranty.
I imagine they will arrive next week as most retailers are given a dedicated stock for them to distribute (see Amazon, John Lewis /etc.)

For me it still looks like the Samsung ultra wide is the one ticking all my boxes… just a shame it looks like it’s no longer available for Samsung (get decent discounts from their corporate store)

I feel like it’s a bit risky, they might reject it (disastrous if it affects my order) or go with a lower offer (not great but not a dealbreaker).

I have no idea when I’ll receive the packaging, I guess before the new Mac arrives. At the same time as the new MBP with a partial refund to follow is the ideal.

They send you the trade in packaging after they deliver your new MacBook according to the website (either when you place your order or on your order details, I can't remember which!)

I have the LG27UD88, which is a few years old. It’s been replaced by the LG27UL850 which seems almost identical.

4K 60Hz. Supports HDMI, USB-C and disable port, and provides power, though only around 60W from memory. Has a couple of built in USB-A 2.0 ports. And it’s not daisy-chainable. So not a perfect monitor, but a good picture and only around £310.
Having spent some time looking around at the cost of 4K ultrawides, I think I might just add a second one of these to be honest.

Thanks for that, I hope it works out that way! I thought I might be in-between Macs for a few days.

So what we all going for?

I think for me the ideal would be 14” with 32gb ram however as it pushes it so close to the 16” on price I could be tempted….

I’m thinking there’s more chance of me getting the 16” in store than the 14” BTO

8 Core/32GB/1TB 14" for me. I use my Macbook for writing and recording music and intend to keep it for a while. I don't use a lot of CPU but storage is a killer, 512GB has been tight for the last 3-4 years on my 2013 MBP, and I always try and over-spec memory as I tend to have laptops for 5-6 years.

I can't believe my current one is 8 years old, though it looks it. This is going to be some upgrade.

I went for the higher spec Max 14” with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
I have a way more powerful desktop PC and getting a 16“ would have been a bit of a waste.

Unless you have used one of the M1 macbooks already I think you will be surprised how good these are. I replaced a mid spec 16" MBP with an M1 macbook pro and the M1 absolutely smoked it for all my use cases.

Agree, I’d say your more likely to see a stock 16” max in stores than a 14”. I still think there’ll be more chance of the base Pros in any flavour

If you have a look at the listings for non-Apple Stores, it looks like you'll be able to pick up the 32GB 16" model from lots of places, but the only 14" options will be 512GB/1TB SSD, both with 16GB RAM.

Still not found anywhere actually taking guaranteed orders for next week - my brother is getting nervous! Not entirely sure how this has now become my problem!

Is there a list of retailers out of interest?
