Which Model are you getting?

The 14" is almost exactly the same size and weight as my 2013 13" lol

Reckon it ought to be slightly faster though, so I can live with that :)

You certainly can. It’s a bit off putting for me but then again I’ve always been tragically shallow.

Will be good to see how the 14” stacks up against the 13”.. some more leaks prior to Mondays embargo lifting would be good

Are people genuinely saying the new MBPs are too thick or that it just looks too thick. I'm a bit confused by the issues people are having with it getting almost imperceptibly thicker. Yes it looks much chunkier but the maximum thickness has barely increased at all.

Is it too early to start thinking about docks for these new machines? I’d guess i would like something Thunderbolt compatible with various outputs. It sure if the power requirements for the new laptops mean current dock designs need to be updated.

Get the CalDigit TS3 Plus. 85w passthrough (though these apparently only support 65w over USB-C, so that's fine).

Also has like 8 billion ports and everything you'd want (except HDMI), it's so good.

This is something that I find rather strange. What are the actual measurements (thickness) before and after?
I think it's solely because it's squared off. The Touch Bar Macs curve down to their thickest point, so you don't really notice how thick it actually is.

The design language since the introduction of the unibodies has used curved tapers to make the laptops look thinner than they are.

The new design language ignores that completely, with everything squared off but radii used everywhere to blend the sharp corners. Small radii for the display module, and a larger radius for the underside of the body.

However, the difference in thickness between the older retina display models, and the new design is insignificant in real terms.

I really, really like the new design.

(But I also really like the way the display has been extended either side of the camera module, so take my taste in industrial design however you want!)

Been following the US thread and some early movers have been tracking their macs from china to Japan and now landed in the US.

And all I see is

If it helps my US order to my mates address in NY has been on Preparing to Ship for ages with no UPS scan yet! Suspect Monday is going to be extremely hectic in both the UK & US threads!

Any speculation on what stock levels will be like in store - have a base 14” with upgraded CPU on order, but am thinking I’d probably go to the higher tier stock model if it’s available straight away.

I've just cancelled my preorder with Apple for the 14/M1Max/24GPU/32GB/1TB for a 16/M1Max/32GPU/32GB/1TB at Costco. Decided that 14 might be a bit small when using Xcode with another app and the High Power Mode might have pushed me over the edge.
Do you have the link for this as I couldn’t find it on their site?

Regretting not getting more storage now ?‍♂️

Can’t decide if my regret outweighs my impatience enough to change my order.
