Recovery mode, wipe the hard drive and reinstall the os?
There is no opportunity for any of those sorts of attempts to work for me because the screen never comes on no matter if I hold down the power button to get to recovery mode. Even the revive options using apple configurator 2 doesnt do anything, I still end up with nothing but repeating startup sounds.

So this one is dead and I shall return it for a refund. I'll try to get another one from somewhere else (the dead one came from Apple directly).

Well my delivery window has come and gone, parcel force tracking shows "robertlee" is about 10 miles away where he has been for the last hour so I hope he is on a break otherwise its not looking good.

Looks like I might have to cancel my BTO 8Core/32GB/1TB 14" order. HSBC have blocked the card payment for some mystifying reason (there's 4k left on the card). I've been on to HSBC card support for over an hour, now they're having to call me back though the guy on the line said he didn't think they're be able fix it. I'm used to fun and games with buying Apple kit on cards but good grief!

Any suggestions for another way to buy the configuration above without waiting until Christmas/January from Apple? I was about to hand over £2,485.80 to Apple for the privilege (with education discount).

Also, why on earth is it impossible to swap payment details on an active order? It's not great for customers to say the least.

Was it a stock version? There might be some still around in stores

So 30 hours since the last update from UPS and still no change from it being AWOL in Shanghai. I’m hoping it’s just making its way silently and I’ll be surprised with an update of it being in the uk soon enough.

Still seeing this available to asap is so tempting! If they only had it with 32gb I’d probably have done it

I am setting up my new MacBook, to be honest it would be easier to do the migration assistant but like a fresh install. I go through every page of system preferences with my existing MacBook side by side to make sure I carry over all the things I like. Just copying over my 700GB photo library and then it will be time to do some photo editing!

First impressions are good, it's a beautiful design!

Anyone else having issues with 0 calendar events appearing in the Calendar app?

Had a screen sharing session with Apple Support too but to no avail.

Got worried for a moment, thought the fan had started to spin up under light use. Was questioning the veracity of YouTube reviews etc when I realised the Mrs had put the kettle on downstairs and I could hear that. Relief all round, plus a nice cup of tea.

My 2013 mbp has been my favourite ever computer and I've cherished it like a child, so it's mad how incredibly outdated and tired it feels all of a sudden. The screen looks so small and fuzzy. The bezel is enormous. It's glacially slow. The keyboard with black keys on silver seems old fashioned. The speaker quality is hilariously bad.

Decided to keep the space grey, it's perfectly nice and I cannot be arsed to swap 🙂

Yeah. no movement or updates at my end either.

Have you got a day and time yet?

Yes it was the stock 16" Max 32GB 1TB. I have made an attempt to get another one delivered from a different store tomorrow, but I'm not going assume this cunning plan will work until I have one sitting in front of me in full working order!

I've managed to cope with todays disappointment better than I normally do. But probably only because I hope to rectify the situation within 24 hours, if my luck sucks tomorrow too then I shall be Mr sad face for some time.

Oh well, at least when I do get one that works I intend to squeeze every drop of power out of the GPU without using a disgraceful number of watts. I'm using my own custom realtime 3D fluid simulation with compute shaders in Unity and I'm hoping my particular use of this is very close to 4X the speed of the original M1. I look forward to the time when I can be talking about that and not the fact that I current have the worlds most expensive startup sound playing brick.

Been showing 29th since yesterday, not changed from that so still assuming it will show up
Exactly the same boat (probably a plane) as you. Give me an update UPS. Was hoping it would arrive in the UK today and go out for delivery tomorrow. Seems unlikely at this point.

From past experiences they tend to go to 2 or 3 different countries in Europe first before getting into the uk

I’ve finally got mine but had to go to the depot. I knew something was amiss when the time slot came and went and tracking stopped. I was incandescent when I got the old we tried to deliver and have left a card text! Straight in the car and down to the depot where the driver had just arrived back. Credit to the lady on the desk she made the driver bring them to me and apologise…

Anyhoo here we go
