just go do it 😂This might push me over the edge and make me go pick up a base pro 10core!
Interesting the top level status shows clearing customs.

It’s not just me then. Mine has just popped up with the same update, was supposed to be delivered Friday
wow the M1 Max makes the 2012 bezel look ginormous!
did love my 2012 MBP, was my first MacBook after moving from a generation of windows machines... never looked back![]()
anything in particular that made you go space gray?
There is a article on Appleinsider that some people with a 26th Oct date have been bumped to December - that is my worry as I selected a hefty BTO!It’s not just me then. Mine has just popped up with the same update, was supposed to be delivered Friday![]()
Argh. In the early hours of the morning, whilst I was asleep, I had an SMS from MBNA saying “you will text a text from MBNA about your card activity”. Then another text from a normal number saying “Did you use your card at *30s before message* at Apple/UK for £2099? Reply yes or no”. £2099 was the cost of the MBP, whereas my original order was MBP + AppleCare.Yeah, had nothing on the store page but telephone customer service sorted it right away. I wouldn't have bothered with multiple calls to the idiots at HSBC if I'd known it was going to be that easy (also Apple's credit card payment page says 'The payment method for an order cannot be amended once the order has been submitted to Apple.')!
Hopefully that's not slowed my delivery much.
See above. They tried to charge for laptop overnight. Applecare is still showing as pending. For those with estimated delivery of Friday on BTO, have you been charged already?
I had the £349 for AppleCare charged today on my Amex, but not the laptop itself yet?![]()
I mentioned it a few page back but this is normal.after pickup the next scan will be once it’s in the UK. Same thing happened when I ordered by series 7. Picked up in china via DHL, next scan was 3 days later when it arrived in the uk, and then on the 4th day it was delivered. I expect a scan tomorrow Once in the uk.View attachment 1880397
Still no updates on my DHL tracking. This is getting stressful now.
It's memory pressure that really matters with MacOS, rather than the sum of what Apps are showing as using, so that looks like you have a good amount of headroom. MacOS is very good at memory management, although ultimately 16GB is 16GB and not 32GB, so it can of course hit a wall earlier in certain tasks. Can someone reassure me here
I thought I’d open a few safari tabs and load a photo into Affinity Photo, also have the photos app open and App Store
Should it be using this much RAM? Does this bode well for the future?
I’m not massively clued up on it but I want to make sure I’ve got a machine to last me several years
I think you are probably right, although it's possible - I did once order something which shipped from Shenzen and it arrived nearly as quickly as you physically could have moved the package - something like 24 hours door to door, which was amazing. So you can luck out.I'm in the "there was a mechanical failure" batch of UPS deliveries. Got a feeling this isn't arriving this week. Don't quite understand how there was no tracking update for 2 days and then there is an issue.

Love my new MacBook but can help but a little bit wasn’t the Max model. No reason at all, other than ideally would have liked 32gb ram for “future proofing”
Weirdly I notice it’s sitting around 6gb free ram of the 16. Do you think this is because it’s indexing and a new set up ?

What is particularly annoying is that they declined the original transaction and I had to redo it.
Now I have to get Apple to try the transaction again. But no longer have the option on the order page.

Same Mechanical Failure message on UPS tracking as above… fingers crossed for Friday!!
I suspect it was this flight that's been cancelled: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/5x11Still showing the date of Friday so fingers crossed indeed!
Maybe the mechanical failure is what caused it to be sat there for a few days in Shanghai. The failure message appeared twice for me with the latest one ending with “your parcel is on its way”.
Still plenty of time for it to arrive
