Which Model are you getting?

Apple Watch related, but thought I’d ask here:
Anyone having issues getting a return label when returning a product?
Initiated my watch return on Thursday, and every time I try to “View Return Label and Instructions” keep getting an error message (screenshot).
Contacted support who told me they were having issues with some return return labels, just wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same problem?

I just began a return on my AirPods 3 (too big for my ears) and had an error when going to the return label for a few hours. Put the return through around midday and it was available in the evening (around 6?)

Thank you! Strange how mine has been playing for so many days…

@Jinjin I also got the base 14" with 1TB in silver today. Looks striking with the contrast between the unibody and the black keyboard.

Did you guys get Apple Care straightaway? Or waited until the 60th day so that coverage lasts for 3 years and 2 months?

I just bought it straight off - after 60 days I’d probably just not bother thinking I’d survived 2 months!

Yes I had a similar return label problem when trying to return the 16" Max I got a week ago that was dead on arrival. I waited some days to see if the label problem fixed itself on their website but it didnt so I phoned Apple yesterday and they are now getting UPS to bring a label to me instead. Hopefully they will actually turn up and I can bring that saga to a close.

I'm never sure about apple care because we have consumer law in the UK which protects you for 2 years at least I believe and then longer based on the cost and expected quality etc. So if you have paid £3000 for a laptop, expecting it to last 3 years without fault is not unreasonable.

I'm sure someone can explain this far better than myself. Obviously consumer law doesn't help if you drop your laptop or otherwise damage it through your own actions.

This.
The trackpad on my 2014 base model MBP failed in 2016 so over a year outside of warranty and I didn’t have AppleCare. Apple replaced the topcase free of charge. I am in the UK.

The consumer rights laws here are good
but make sure to read up on them if your going to try using them to get a repair covered.

so a binned 8/14/32/1tb (+the fast charger) would be £2519.. the base 10/16/16/1tb is £2399..

so £100 quid more for double the ram and pretty equivalent performance!... hmmm

if only they weren't expected until mid December :D

I went with the 14” 10/16/1TB from The EDU Store for £1982 which comes with a 4 year warranty total and costs only £94 more than the base 14” with 1TB upgrade and standard warranty.

I don’t mind that they are slow in responding in fact, our school uses them so I have access to account management if needed.

I’ll return my £1708 14” base - it was the 1TB I really needed.

I need to watch some more reviews/benchmarks of the binned model... the idea of minimal performance impact over the fact I can add more RAM is appealing!

just waiting until 7-14 dec is not :D

That’s the issue, the BTO wait times at the moment which won’t get better for a while. For me, I wanted the 1TB over other specs as I’ll be keeping this again for c5 years. But the small difference in price between the two (with 20%) discount made it worth it.

Its even longer than that. To quote from an apple website:

Under consumer laws in the UK, consumers are entitled to a free of charge repair and (depending on the circumstances) may be entitled to a replacement, discount or refund by the seller, of defective goods or goods which do not conform with the contract of sale. For goods purchased in England or Wales, these rights expire six years from delivery of the goods and for goods purchased in Scotland, these rights expire five years from delivery of the goods.

I've never heard of anyone actually hold them to this, I have heard a few say 'no AppleCare, sorry'.
It would certainly be painful trying to go down this route after a long time, because I dont think it applies if the fault is down to 'normal wear and tear'. So you would have to prove that the fault was the result of a manufacturing defect. And the highest profile defects tend to cause Apple to bring in their own extended repairs programme covering that particular fault anyway (eg when there was a particular fault with nvidia gpus on some macbook models).

I've used consumer law a few times with Apple in the past, successfully.

I had a 2016 15" MacBook Pro - it had issues and they replaced it with a later model outside the warranty, etc.

No questions, no working with customer service, etc? Just a straight swap?

I was wondering if anybody who ordered from TheEduStore has received their machines yet.
I'm thinking of ordering with them but a bit unsure if they can be trusted?
I ordered one on Thursday when showing as ‘in Stock’ with the dastardly intention of returning my Apple store bought one, but they are now confirming their is no ETA from their supplier so the current time is 36 days.
