I bought it in store so don’t have the luxury or initiating a return. I’m hoping they can refund to gift card so I can then use it straight away to place the new order.. this wait till mid dec :(

I fully understand your approach but it looks to me as if you could have kept it for 28 days.

Also, as regards your wish to have a refund to gift card so as to pay for the replacement, you would not be charged for the 8/14/32/1TB that you’re ordering until a few days before dispatch in December, or late November if it moves up.

If keeping it longer doesn’t suit you, fair enough. 😀

Is there a keyboard shortcut to put these new MacBook Pros to sleep? Most of the time when I press the power/touch ID button the screen goes off then comes back on.

Try pressing the power button with a finger that isn't registered in TouchID.
I found that if I used my right index then it locked, but then immediately unlocked again haha

Having expected delivery on Monday and two phone calls to UPS later, I am still waiting on UPS to deliver to the corner shop UPS pickup point today.

It's now past their estimated delivery window for the day, so I am not hopeful.

If Apple's 'Ultimate' 16 inch config had 2TB instead of 4TB I would be picking it up from a store.

I have had pretty good service from UPS in the past, but this has been a bit of a nightmare really.

It' arrived!

First impressions:

- screen is absolutely stunning
- HDR Youtube videos mixed with SDR on the rest of the screen looks a bit weird (nothing wrong, just interesting)
- hard lock up and restart within 5 mins when playing around with aforementioned HDR youtube videos 😅
- keyboard feels surprisingly different to my M1 Air, it's 'clickier' and the travel feels a bit less
- basically same as 2015 15 in size/weight
- coming from the Air / 2015 MBP, I need to get used to that massive trackpad!
- speakers sound great
- battery draining quicker than I expected
- notch is a non-issue
- size/shape looks nice, but not as nice as the older models (which I realise chose form over function!)

So far so good. Feels like a solid update.
