I'm tempted by Currys reserve + collect.
We have a reward scheme at work, 8% off vouchers of £25 multiples.
So I could by £475 worth of vouchers for £437, plus £4 cash to make up to £479 (for wifi 32gb). They're instant vouchers too, so I just print off.
So would cost me £441 and I can collect in an hour... tempting!

Nice, i was going to do the same at my work as we get 9% off argos gift cards but have to wait for it to be delivered and activated which will take about a week all together! Went for tesco instead which works out a better deal with the cashback and points

Just so people know, the 128GB White/Silver LTE model on apple.com/uk has now moved to 5-10 business days...so looks like they're starting to sell out of the initial stock.

Now the Space Grey 128GB LTE model has gone to 5-10 business days as well...

Anyone been to the Arndale store in Manchester? I'm waiting for the Mini but I might have a stroll in after work, I want to cop a feel of the Air. If I was blown away, my choice could be swayed, but I intend to wait till both are available and decide then.

I was going to go with the mini but the fact I could actually hold the ipad air in one hand swayed it for me.

Just been to the Manchester store to pick up a smart cover (all colours still available) and they seem to have plenty of Airs still for sale, about 10 - 15 people queuing in store.

I was there at 9 this morning, few people waiting. Loads of 5S and iPads, the Air to me felt like the Mini did first time I picked it up, must be me but I can't really tell much difference in weight between the two IMO or not as much as before.

Don't do it!

For anyone who hasn't yet taken the plunge: I asked John Lewis if they'd match Tesco's price of £709 on the 128GB WiFi/Cellular model (£739 minus their £30 voucher code on the site, for all tablets over £300), and they've confirmed they will.

Thank you for your price match request for the space grey Apple iPad Air, Apple A7, iOS 7, 9.7”, Wi-Fi & Cellular, 128GB, John Lewis product code 86000608.

I have looked into your request and will be happy to match the price of £709 for the above seen with Tesco Direct. To place this order with us please visit our website. A maximum of 10 items can be ordered and you will be charged full price initially.

When you have received your items and are satisfied with your purchase, please let me know by return email quoting reference query (removed) and your order number. We will process a refund for the price difference and you should see this in your account within five working days.

This price match and query number is valid for one purchase only and cannot be shared with friends or family. Please also note that the price match above is only valid for orders placed with John Lewis.com and cannot be used in store. You should place your order within 28 days from today. If you wish to view more information about Never Knowingly Undersold or our pricing policy, you can do so on our website:

This way, you'd get Tesco's price, and John Lewis' two-year warranty. You'll need to submit a request to them for your own specific order; that can also be done up to 28 days after purchase from them.

The two year warranty is a myth, it's a standard two year EU warranty.

And you forgot to factor in the £7 you also get in club card points, taking the iPad down to £702

I know of the EU two year warranty, but footnote 1 on Apple's warranty summary states "In most EU member states, consumers may only claim for defects that were present on delivery."

So the two year period does exist, but seems not to include faults that developed later on.

Can you offer additional clarification? I'm not especially familiar with this legislation.

As for John Lewis, their warranty information says:

Our guarantees provide full cover against mechanical breakdown through normal use. This means that if your item develops a fault during the guarantee period, we'll arrange for it to be repaired free of charge, including all parts and labour. Your guarantee is transferable with ownership, so if you give or sell the item to someone during the guarantee period, it's still covered.

- which does sound like a normal guarantee, not limited to faults found on delivery.

Ordered iPad Air Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB - Space Grey from Apple this morning at 8am to replace my original iPad. My order status says preparing for dispatch for delivery on the 5th. Not sure why they can’t deliver it tomorrow, but after 3 1/2 years another couple of days won't hurt.

The Air feels a lot easier to hold then the earlier iPads. It is possible to hold and operate it with one hand and as I have said before the 9.8 screen is perfect for web browsing. I have no regrets about selling my 4 and buying the Air

The standard two year EU warranty is a myth. It is a two year guarantee. Not the same thing at all. Meaningless in the UK since we have had six year guarantees by law since 1979.

John Lewis is offering an extra year's service warranty on top of your statutory rights. That is potentially worth the Tesco clubcard points you would sacrifice for not buying there.

Just bought one today as a present for my Dad.

In case anyone else was looking for a deal, and not sure if it's been mentioned before, but PC world has a £30 voucher for all tablets bought over £300 and using the code iTab5 you can get 5% off the price!

Apple store Watford - in and out within 10 minutes with my daughter. Simple, easy and friendly. The apple experience at its best.. Oh and that was for the air 128gb in silver. Plenty in stock as well.

What time did you submit a request to them and then hear back?

Just came back from the Basingstoke Apple Store. Not a crowd and plenty of stock. Snagged a white 128gb 4g and blue smart case.

May return the case and look for alternatives as it adds .5lb to the weight. That's +50%

£30 or £50 Voucher at PCWorld

Just bought an iPad Air 32GB Wifi from PCWorld, at the checkout I got an unexpected voucher for £30 redeemable after November 21st. If I'd bought the 64GB version I would have got a £50 voucher (purchase over £500). So if you are looking to buy anything else from PC World and don't mind waiting until later in November you can effectively get up to "£50 off" a new iPad Air. The voucher is as good as cash apparently, you don't have to spend a certain amount or anything like that.

Drove down to Stormfront (Apple reseller) in Carmarthen. I arrived there before anyone. At 8:55 5-6 other people joined the queue. I was in and out in 5mins.

Didn't get a smart cover though. Like one of the posters above they only had black or pink.........um, no. ordered a product red one directly from Apple to save me searching around over the weekend.

Havent even opened it yet, had to come straight work so it could be smashed to bits inside the box for all I know lol

currys are actually a waste of time, they just called me to tell me the iPad i reserved is a display model and they can't sell it to me

i reserved a 479.00 one not the discounted item.

disorganised idiots

Thanks for this, I've just submitted a claim for my order this morning. In the past they have refused to accept voucher codes when price matching. Hope it doesn't depend on who responds to your query.
