Do UK shops take part in the "Black Friday" event in November.. What kind of reductions?
In my experience no. Black Friday is a completely meaningless concept to most Brits. I only know about it because I lived in the USA for 3 years.

haha soon as i reserved with argos and than currys to get the itab discount, tesco's went live so i have 2 reserved now that i don't need  need to cancel these hate to stop someone else missing out

i always knew tesco's would come through and currys would fail. how they did miserably

Can the itab discount be used when reserving and collecting with Currys? Payment is made in-store, and I couldn't see the option to use a discount code when reserving.

oh, and seen your other post. If you're any where near Altrincham, there's a chance I have 2 32gb wifi slate iPad airs reserved. It gave me an error but said my reservation may still have been made. So I tried again then got a reservation code.

I'm wondering the same - I will know at about 5.45pm when I go pick it up!

Nice experience at the Apple Belfast Store. Got there at 7.30am and there were approx 30 people ahead of me. Apple were giving out complimentary tea and coffee and the whole atmosphere was great.

Was out of there by 8.15am with a nice Air 16gig WiFi.

Was going to be in Manchester this morning but thought I would check out the online retailers before setting out, by 8.15 when I checked most had sold out of their stock of Space grey 64 4G so I thought I would take a look at the queue at the Arndale store. Amazed to find that at 9.30 there were only 6 people in the queue. Got my iPad Air and was outside in less than 5 minutes. Very pleasant experience. They had a lot on a bench at the back of the store so I would imagine they still will a good supply.

Just transferring from my iPad 1 to my new Airhttp://cdn.macrumors.com/vb/images/smilies/smile.gif

The standard two year EU warranty is a myth. It is a two year guarantee. Not the same thing at all. Meaningless in the UK since we have had six year guarantees by law since 1979.

John Lewis is offering an extra year's service warranty on top of your statutory rights. That is potentially worth the Tesco clubcard points you would sacrifice for not buying there.

Fit for purpose... look it up...

i would reserve through tesco and get it tomorrow after 4 and save £30

Well, I was going to get from Tesco but the reward scheme at work lets us buy vouchers 8% off, so I'll get a 32gb wifi for £441 :)

Tried getting a 128GB from a couple of EE stores and was told that they only had the 16GB, they will have to order the 128GB.

Decided to order online where I was able to get the 128GB wifi/4G for an £309 upfront cost and £26/month for 24 months, this was a shared plan deal where I can use the 20GB/month data allowance on my iPhone plan. The only issue is that they could not give a definitive quote on delivery date, it could be between next week and 30 days from now.

Good thing I am not in any hurry :)

Thought of going with 3 but they did not have the 128GB model and the 64GB has an upfront cost of £289.

Tesco
Apple
Argos

still got them in stock... don't know what the last 20 pages of worry was for :)

Has anyone who ordered from Tesco had a proper order confirmation? I ordered (this morning) to collect from my local store, and it still says 'Partial Confirmation'. I looked this up and saw a rep on Facebook said his means the order has been received but the there hasn't been confirmation that there is stock.

Gotta say I'm very impressed with Apple's Regent Street store. After some fun and games with Barclays deciding paying for an Apple product on-line at 7:00 was clearly fraud (and two ^&*%^&! hours trying to get them to unblock the card) decided to hop a tube and see if I could grab a 128GB Silver.

Turned up and found a nicely planned queuing area about half full placed around the main staircase. Single Apple employee handing out tickets so you knew what they had immediately. The entire rear of the store given over to iPad and iPhone sales with a lot of Geniuses on hand complete with mobile card terminals. Queue moved incredibly quickly - was told 15 minutes when I joined it, couldn't have been more than 5 - and service was simply perfect.

One thing I was really impressed by was the lack of sell through for cases / covers. They had every colour of both laid out and visible but at no point did anyone ask if I wanted to add one. Right way of doing it and very much appreciated. Also no problem with popping open the box right there and waiting while I checked for any defects. Put simply a great experience with no attempt to up-sell you, if only more companies did that...

yup, only one thats hard to come by is the 128 LTE models

as far as I can tell only Apple has them, and they've sold out the initial stock.

facebook or tweet them should get a pretty fast response!

Ordered click and collect from Tesco, 16GB white was out of stock, but managed to JUST get the 16GB black (Boss went to order one a few seconds after and got told it was out of stock)

The huge quantity of stock is really frustrating, as I just know when the mini 2 is out, it'll be carnage again, and thats the one i want.

I think that because they have been producing the retina screen for such a long time now that there is plenty of available stock.

The mini retina is completely new so will take them time to get up to full speed (and bigger consumer demand as cheaper and most likely more popular)

Is that the same as the Currys £265 balls up this morning? If so, what a shocking way to deal with their mess! Not heard anything yet about mine but won't be using them again if that's what happens. Understand they made an error and we're not entitled to the price, but deal with it in a timely and sensitive way if you want to keep any future goodwill!

Messed up big time today lol. Set alarm for 7:58, ordered a space grey 64gb wifi only at 8:01 just incase the apple stores had sold out. Thought I would take chance and pop into Apple at Bluewate.
Anyway to cut a long story short queued up and was told they had loads of stock, probably the most they have ever had on a launch day, thought oh great I will cancel my online order- went on the app to cancel and realised order status had changed to preparing for shipment (unable to cancel order)
So returned home, tired and without an ipad. To make things worse, my online order is showing Tuesday as delivery, and nobody will be home Tuesday to sign for it :(
First world problems hey! Oh well, I'll get it eventually and I'm lucky to be in a position where I can have one in the first place!
