Just back from the Apple store to try out the Air, was impressed. When placed next to the mini it looks a better , more useable size. It made the mini look too small.

I'm currently using a mini though and love it so i'm still undecided what to go for. Was tempted to buy the Air and give it a go then maybe return within the 14 days, was actively encouraged by the Apple staff to do this.

Then I got caught out by the wife, she asked why we needed a new iPad, I wasn't prepared for her line of questioning so stumbled a bit

Think i'm going to wait for the retina mini as it ticks all the boxes and is cheaper too.

Your answer to your wife should be the same as the one I give mine. "Do I question you when you buy a new iron, ma darlin". Give a cheeky wink and then move quickly to pay. Whatever you do don't look back.

I have to agree with smiddlehurst on this. At the end of the day you and others took a chance by taking advantage of what was clearly a mistake and you knew it was likely a mistake or error on Currys part. Such offers are typically too good to be true. There was no guarantee you would succeed with your order and you didn't so you have to pay the consequences. By law any offer to sell a product at a certain price is an invitation to treat and the retailer is under no obligation to honour such errors.

In some circumstances as a gesture of goodwill they will but usually when the price different is much smaller. Judging by previous similar circumstances I have seen with online orders the way Currys handled it is no different from other companies in the same situation. I'm not saying its right or defending them but this is to be expected. Rather then moaning and complaining you need to just accept it and move on.

I don't know how else to put this, so I can only assume you haven't read what I wrote, or don't understand what I'm saying.

I did not expect it to go through, I am not moaning it didn't go through, and I perfectly understand why it didn't go through. That's all fair and I have no right or expectation to get the item at that price.

What I do think is unfair is the fact I am out of pocket £265 for up to 7 days. I also think currys have handled their screw up (and however you spin it, the issue was caused by them) extremely badly. That's my opinion, and looking on twitter it's shared by others. You don't have to agree with it, however if you were out of pocket as well I suspect you would.

Anyone seen anything saying when retailers other than Apple will get the iPad Air smart covers and cases in? I got my 32GB Air from Argos yesterday so want to use the £20 in vouchers I got with it as the covers/cases are a bit pricey but no where seems to have stock....

That is exactly what I'm wondering about. I also tried the local Currys but they didn't have any either.

Received my dispatched notification email from apple at 5:40 this morning, shows as Hinckley GB on the tracking at the moment. Delivery still shows as tues 5th but if it's dispatched already surely it would deliver Monday as a possibility? Any one had experience with earlier delivery dates?

Hey guys, just an update. A few people who ordered from Currys at the stupidly low price have collected their iPads - some people managed to get them!

The WIFI & Cellular options are quite limited outside the Apple Store so had to go down there to pick it up, they had loads of stock so looks like Apple have kept the bulk of that for themselves. Still annoyed they didn't allow home deliveries on release day.

The iPad looks and feels great, so much lighter than the previous version. iOS7 is still a bit buggy I find but overall feels a lot quicker than my previous iPad. The WIFI speeds are much higher as well.

Got the red Smart Case with it, the leather feels cheaper than the Red leather Smart cover I had before. Looks good but I don't think it is the best quality, it will do for now though!

Thats fantastic. Good on them for jumping on that glitch! And i've no sympathy for Currys at all. If they did their job properly they would have priced properly.

Just as an FYI, you should have budgeted for that, that's not Currys, that's the way the useless banks make a bit of interest on your money. Refunds made electronically are always 4-7 days, it's just the (intentional) inefficiency of the banks in processing, no matter who the retailer is.

Ordered my iPad from Tescos at 2pm yesterday to be picked up today via click and collect, it said I can pick it up after 4pm.

Although I got a dispatched notice at half 12 last night informing me that the delivery date is the '04/11/2013' WTF.

Agreed, refunds are nothing to do with the merchants, the money will leave Currys probably within a day but the processing companies will take their time to refund the money back to the card.

Just got mine. Email saying collection was ready came about 9:23am.
Guess I'll need to go down Tesco after work to do a collect and refund

Tesco delivered my iPad this morning. Quite happy with it at first glance. Ordered at 11am ish

I have to say I'm very impressed with the size, speed and weight of this device.

But unfortunately I feel it crashes regularly... Since last evening apps have crashed on me 3-4 times.

I'm hoping that it's software related and not ram..

I got a dispatch email from Apple this morning saying to track it with Syncreon. It doesn't work on their site, nor on UKMail or UPS. I read on iMore that these are the alternatives for Apple, anybody had any luck?

Most painless Apple launch-day I've ever experienced. I usually order direct with Apple but, after the debacle of the iPhone 5, I looked for other means.

Reserved at Argos at about 7am yesterday. Picked it up a few hours later. £20 voucher too...which I'll put towards a Smartcase when they have them in stock.

What apps are crashing? I've had Safari crash twice (on the same site), but then the site crashed my iPad 4 as well, it seems to be a rogue JavaScript on the site that messes with Safari.

No other crashes though.

Try UK Mail, mine works now. "Awaiting Collection" for delivery on Monday.

My asda delivery that I ordered in Thursday arrived about an hour ago. Relatively impressed with yodel sending me a text about delivery time frame - but they still delivered a day too late.
