Which Model are you getting?

lets hope it’s actually coming this time and Apple doesn’t pull out of it at the last minute as what happened with the 12 Pro last year.

I think the Always On Display also sounds interesting too

Yeah in typical Apple form we will likely only see 120Hz refresh rate in the Pro models if it does happen. I was reading Samsung is the likely supplier of the circuit boards for the 120Hz OLED screens.

Apple will then presumably stick with 60Hz refresh rates on its 13 and 13 mini OLED screens.

Always On Display would be a good call, especially if Apple executes it well plus I’m interested in discovering the real benefits of those two larger cameras on the Pro.

The Matte black colour has piqued my interest, especially if it has the same feel of the Pixel 5 which was great to hold. That black colour is meant to be a lot darker than Graphite and Space Grey with HEX color code 121212. Although I would have preferred Jet matte black as a nod to the iPhone 7!

‘Sunset Gold’ has the makings of this years halo colour.

Yep I think we can be sure 120hz, if its really coming, it’ll be a Pro exclusive, following reviews/critique with the 12 series that there was barely enough to differentiate the Pros and the higher price point that came with them. It would align with the iPads, in which the Pros feature 120hz displays, everything else is 60hz. Back in the 11 Pro’s day, the OLED display, with its richer colours and higher PPI, as well as the telephoto lens which I use a lot in day to day photography, much more than the ultra wide, for me was enough to justify the difference in price over the standard 11. If, however, I were buying new for the 12 series, one out of two of those Pro features I mentioned (OLED) got ported over to the standard 12.… Meanwhile, the 12 Pro’s other new exclusive feature this time was the LIDAR scanner, which if my experience with it on the iPad Pro 2020 is anything to go by, for me, its completely useless (sorry), I’d find myself having a harder time justifying the Pro, but the telephoto would’ve probably gotten me there.

A throwback to the iPhone 7’s day is very nostalgic, yep, they had two blacks that year, Matte and Jet. Jet Black was so unique and glossy - you could almost call it iPhone Edition for how unique it actually was, it was to the touch a different material altogether. Definitely gave me some Star Wars Darth Vader vibes almost! The Matte Black iPhone 7 meanwhile reminds me more of the Space Black Titanium Apple Watch, which is also a very sleek and stealthy look. I’m coming from a Space Grey 11 Pro, so depending on other colours announced, probably looking for a change this time around.

If Sunset Gold is a nice dark-orangey-brown colour I think it could look nice, lets wait and see whats announced :)

The rumoured sunset gold, which is said to be more bronze, does sounds interesting. All the rumours do point to only the pro models having the 120Hz displays. Ming-Chi Ku, who’s pretty reliable source, says we won’t see a notchless design until 2023, so expect just a smaller notch. Then again given how bad the under display camera is on the new Samsung Z fold, maybe a notch isn’t such a bad idea until the technology improves.

One area that isn’t clear is how far down the range the iPhone 12 max sensor shift will feature in the 13. The earlier rumours suggested it would feature in all the phones but the latest rumours suggest only the pro models will have it.

Must admit I cant decide on whether it will that much of an upgrade from my iPhone 12 Pro, though the 120Hz display is tempting.

Hello.

I wasn’t planning to upgrade as I have the 11 from 2019, which I upgraded to from the OG 6 (upgraded from the iPhone 4). I usually keep my phone for 4-5 years but it’s strange that I’m still adjusting to the larger size of the 11. I think part of the reason I’ve had pain in my hand is related to this bigger phone. So…I’m considering upgrading to the 13 Mini and selling off the 11. Gonna have a think about it and may order one in a few months to try it out.

For me the 6 was the perfect size, felt they should’ve kept the 11 at that size and just increased screen space.

Someone else’s mock-concept Sunset Gold (and Matte Black), I think it looks pretty neat

I'm completely out of my 11 Pro Max IUP now, so hopefully getting a 13 Pro Max will be a heck of a lot easier now.

I like the color above the sunset gold. It look like Rose Gold.
Yup the Rose Gold is also rumoured to be returning after many years absence (although of course as with the rest of the picture nothing confirmed until the event itself :) )

Have to say I do keep seeing these rumoured colours and the pinky one does look very attractive.... but I'm not sure I think I might prefer my trustly silver still. We shall see!!! 🤩

I initially went with gold last year for my 12 Pro Max but found the bling factor too so swapped out for silver which I still really like now.

Matte black has definitely got my name written on it this year!

Nice!

Not had a black phone since the scratch magnet jet back 7(?)

Looks like it might he time to return

I loved the jet black 7 but mine scratched up even in a case!

Let’s hope Apple have resolved all those old school issues with the latest black coating.

nice to see the thread back good job as always @Jinjin

last year was the first time i didn't get the pro max and went for the pro

i'm happy i did so i'll stick with the pro for the iphone 13 or whatever its called.

How do you find larger phones practical though? Any Max size device feels bulky and heavy to me. I don't like the feeling of a larger phone in my pocket when sitting down over fear of it breaking, but also the weight, and taking one out of my pocket each time I sit down is something I don't want to have to think about.

I'd love a larger device with a larger screen, but for me practicality and comfort day-to-day wins over the enjoyment of a larger screen.

Obviously only applies to those who carry a phone in a jeans/trouser pocket, it would be easier if you only keep it in a bag or jacket pocket.
You get used to it. Then it feels natural.

Think I should keep 256GB… don’t think I need 512GB but with a baby on way in 5 weeks not sure if more space is needed for videos and photos. Think I have 126GB left of 256GB.
Do you use iCloud? if so you won't need anymore space for pictures. I save all my pictures to iCloud photos and have a 256GB iPhone. I'm nowhere near running out of space. I have two children and take pictures of them all the time going back to when they were babies. You must be excited for the new baby but get ready for the sleepless nights lol

I’m back and, like the rest of you, excited to see what this year brings! I reckon we’re probably looking at the Apple event on the 14th September, pre-orders on the 17th, and first deliveries on the 24th. Here’s hoping anyway.

@Jinjin, as usual, has done a brilliant job in opening the thread and there is an incredible amount of valuable information to be found in his original post. It is extremely comprehensive and we owe him a debt of gratitude.

Thanks @Jinjin!

@Jinjin in your original post you have links to previous UK launch threads. May I suggest another, most excellent, thread even though it dates back quite some time. 😉

Ah the iPhone 4. I remember preorder day well. Poised to purchase a white iPhone at 8:01 having arrived at work early only to find out white wasn‘t available. Little did I realise I’d be waiting a whole 9 months for it just because I had to have it in white 🤦🏻‍♂️
