Since I was rushing the order I didn't buy applecare + with my order. Anyone know what the process is to get it? I know you can do it instore or on the phone, but how do they do it over the phone?

Getting Applecare + since its only a bit more than the leather case and I like using the phone without making it more bulky with a case.
Does AppleCare+ cover small dings and scratches? I've only ever had the regular AppleCare on my Macs and never looked into the + for a phone.

Sadly not, you can't use it to claim for cosmetic damage.
Right so it's going to need a cover then ... probably needs a cover anyway due to the camera. The guys at Engadget say that it picked up small scratches on the back after one day of use.

In other news from the MR front page:
MacRumors said:
Foxconn reportedly has hired more than 200,000 workers at its Zhengzhou site to work on Apple's new iPhone. Even with this large labor force and daily output volumes of 140,000 iPhone 6 Plus units and 400,000 iPhone 6 units, the company is still not able to meet pre-order demand.
So the ratio of 6+ vs 6 is 1.4:4 or in other words there are nearly 3 times the number of 4.7s which would explain why the 6+ sold out so quickly.

Yeah, first and only email from Apple about the order since Friday, I think that makes sense, so 8:40 is basically the time I made the order. Is that not still relatively early for a 19/9 delivery or am I right at the end, I seemed to get in when I saw others were having trouble with the page not going live

I am no expert but it should be ok for 19 sept if you're still worried, maybe contact apple and find out what is going on.

If it's dispatched on Thursday then it looks unlikely my change of address will be updated in time to make it for a Friday dispatch window:(. As mine was in Prepping for shipment the only way they can change it is by informing the carrier once it has been dispatched.

If I were to get my ip6 from store on the friday and then return my (completely unopened) Apple online ip6 back to Apple would they sell it as a new iPhone or would it have to go into the 'refurb/secondary' stock?

Might just take my reservation and then return the online order back to Apple.

If I don't take my reservation I'll let anyone on here who can get to the Newcastle upon Tyne Apple store know so (if its possible) I can give them the reservation.

Yes thats your confirmation email yes.

I just looked back through my old Apple emails and found my iPhone 5 order.
Order was placed on the 14/09/2012 and email confirms this.

Next email i had was from Apple saying the iPhone had shipped. This came through on the 19/09/2012 which was a Wednesday at 1841. The phone was launching that Friday 21/09/2012.

Going by this i have my fingers crossed that it goes to Dispatched or i get an email saying its dispatched some time tonight. Just annoying that it still says its processing.

Just checked my iPad mini launch order and it was basicly the same as the above. Ordered on the Friday, Email shipping confirmation the following Wednesday for delivery that Friday.

That shipping email came through at 1801 on the Wednesday. Hopefully that means we will all start getting dispatch emails tonight after 1800!

Officially excited, I can relax now I guess :D

Lucky you. I spoke to the man at the 02 shop where I pre-ordered and he said their stock doesn't come in until tomorrow which is when I'll likely get my information. Anyway he said I should get mine on Friday since I was only the 3rd person to pre-order.

You can't give them the reservation, you would have to go with them to pick it up as the reservation is non transferable and it's possible that they will ask for ID.

Does AppleCare+ cover small dings and scratches? I've only ever had the regular AppleCare on my Macs and never looked into the + for a phone.

It does, i think the older 'applecare' has been discontinued. But Applecare + (plus) gives 2 claims of any damage essentially. Not much more than a case so I'm getting it.

AppleCare+ for iPhone is an insurance product that provides expert telephone technical support1 and up to two years2 of additional hardware coverage, including up to two incidents of accidental damage, each subject to a £55 excess fee.3

AppleCare+ benefits are separate from a consumer’s right to a free-of-charge repair or replacement, by the seller, of goods that do not conform with the contract of sale. Under English law, consumers have up to six years from the date of delivery to exercise their rights; however, various factors may impact your eligibility to receive these remedies. I got text saying it's there now to collect on Friday from O2 shop

Ah that's a shame. I'll just have to let it slide into general stock then =/. If someone did want to come with me, what are the implications of their warranty coverage? i.e. if someone wanted me to go with them to show my ID/apple id order and then place it on their own debit card, would they have full rights of ownership or would it be a bit murky because it's my Apple ID which ordered it.

Would still like to help someone on here who was unlucky to not get a launch day shipping date, but if it means they wouldn't get full ownership due to the Apple ID reservation then it's probably not worth it.

Thanks, I'll look into it. I've never damaged an phone and I've been using mobiles since 1997 but my wife dropped her i5 last week and even though it was in a case it picked up a little crack on the screen. So if I get her an i6 I might get the AppleCare + too.

On a slightly related note about dispatch times.. I bought a leather case for 6 Plus in the early hours of this morning after hearing reviews mentioning scratches.

Oooh, what colour was it? I was looking at them last night and was tempted to go for a 1-3 day shipping one so I'd get it sooner!

To anyone here who is fretting about delivery of an Apple order promised for Friday because they have not had a dispatch notification, I say don't worry.

You will have your shiny new gadget on Friday. Apple rarely fails to deliver in accordance with their promises. They have never failed me on pre-orders of the iPhone 3, 3GS, 4, 4s, and 5. :)

Sadly, I had to queue for the 5s and it was an abysmal experience spoilt by the hoards of scalpers.

I queued for the original iPhone as well, back in November 2007, but that was fun.

HI

last friday i constantly refreshed the apple store page until the site loaded. I then bought my iPhone 6 plus Gold 64Gb.

My delivery shown 30th sept - 3rd oct.
Today it changed status to preparing shipment.

I am hoping it comes for friday! as I have always got my iPhone on launch date every year since 3Gs and I dont want to break a pattern :)

My thoughts exactly. I've always hated putting iPhones in cases, but due to the protruding camera, and the fact that this is going to be upgrading from iPhone 4, I just know I'm going to be a little precious over it for a while :)

They still get the warranty.

Nothing for me yet but I'm not worrying, as the man said they haven't got the stock yet (other stores may have) and I was only the 3rd person to pre-order.

Any one going to bother updating to ios 8 on their current iPhone or any one like me not going to bother.

I'd rather wait and see it on my new iPhone 6 to be honest
