Was just the standard black leather one![]()
It does, i think the older 'applecare' has been discontinued. But Applecare + (plus) gives 2 claims of any damage essentially. Not much more than a case so I'm getting it.
Not much more than a case? Its £79!
Plus don't you have to pay for repairs for those 2 claims?
I've got mobile insurance with Natwest through my current account. I had a water damaged 5 and they swapped it out the next day for a brand new one.
Obviously the insurance through the bank is more but also covers travel insurance, breakdown cover etc. all of that makes me see no benefit in AppleCare
I have a radical suggestion for anyone wanting to get and iPhone 6 this Friday: http://www.dixonstravel.com/iPhone_6.aspx?
You could buy a fully flexible ticket on BA to Manchester for 4PM or thereabouts, get to the airport at 6AM get though security and have a coffee while you wait for Dixons to open. Once you have a phone in hand you can find someone from BA customer services and say that your plans have changed, could they please cancel your ticket and let you out of the airport.
The price for a fully flexible one way ticket to Manchester is £310 if anyone wants to play this game.

How did that work did they send a currier to collect and replace.
I only ask as I also have the same insurance and have never had to claim but am interested in how it works

I have the halifax version of this and although not swapping for new I've had accidental damage replaced with a refurbished model for £50 excess.

Yeah its not the cheapest in the world but £79 for 2 years coverage isn't too bad I guess. I had the Barclay's insurance but its so much hassle, you have to register your phone with them, then wait 21 days before you can claim, plus the £100 excess when you have an iPhone and £7.50 per month, but it does cover other gadgets and loss/theft also. So the £55 excess per claim isn't too bad especially since you can get it swapped on the spot in an Apple store.
Might look into the Natwest one since you get more benefits.
Any one going to bother updating to ios 8 on their current iPhone or any one like me not going to bother.
I'd rather wait and see it on my new iPhone 6 to be honest

Yup. It was a cpw managed swap out so it did sim lock itself but wasn't and issue for me.
Courier came next day took my handset and gave me a replacement in a plain white box.
When I made the claim I only had the handset a few months and the lady dealing with my claim said the replacement was brand new

To anyone here who is fretting about delivery of an Apple order promised for Friday because they have not had a dispatch notification, I say don't worry.
You will have your shiny new gadget on Friday. Apple rarely fails to deliver in accordance with their promises. They have never failed me on pre-orders of the iPhone 3, 3GS, 4, 4s, and 5.
Sadly, I had to queue for the 5s and it was an abysmal experience spoilt by the hoards of scalpers.
I queued for the original iPhone as well, back in November 2007, but that was fun.
I remember queuing alongside a hoard of 5 other people outside a Carphone Warehouse for the original.
How times have changed!!
Out of interest, did ANYONE here manage to reserve anything at Meadowhall?
and if so, if you've got a spare - I'm interested
Interesed in knowing how many people managed to reserve at Meadowhall anyway though...
