UK iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Thread

i would imagine the chances aren't great. In previous years there were no delivery choices, just standard delivery that turned up at some point on launch day.

Do you have a store nearby?

I noticed there was an option for pre 9:30am on the store but if thats not available for new iPhones I guess I am out of luck. Going to a store is a possibility but I am worried about there being queues as I have to catch a train!

Any reason not to use topcashback and/or phones4u? Any experiences? There has to be a catch to save £100 off a new contract/upgrade? Is there any reason for me to go straight with Vodafone then and forego the cashback?

I got around £100 with TopCashback on a Three contract two years ago – the payout is really slow, but it does work. Can also use it for things like car insurance

Has anyone used the pre 9:30am delivery option before? I have to leave for a holiday at 8:50am on the 19th, I'm wondering about the chance of getting it delivered before then.

You'll be lucky if you get it before 8:50am. I don't think there is any time slots for delivery (i've never seen any when ordering the iPhone 5), it just arrives when it arrives on launch day.

There is for a loan or credit, which a mobile contract is see here.

Can I point you to the wording in the second line of your link?

To ensure you're not penalised for cancelling a contract, cancel within the cooling-off period.

Your rights on contracts made away from a trader's premises, such as on the doorstep and online, change on 13 June 2014.

As I said, in store is not covered for change of mind.

So from what I've read it appears for O2, you will be able to pre-order online and in stores from 8.01am tomorrow. Bit confused about the in-store pre-orders .... does that mean they are unlikely to have stock in store you can buy when the store opens. Will they only have pre-orders??

You can preorder to collect in store, that queue should be shorter.

Guys,

I have a £20 off discount code on the iPhone 6 for NHS workers and their friends and family. I cannot guarantee it will work and don't know exactly where you put the code in. Once you submit your details for the code and use it, it appears they will contact you (maybe to confirm that you're a legitimate NHS worker or have a relative/friend who is?). I'm not an NHS worker, but might give this a try and thought I'd share if anyone wants to take the risk.

Edit: it's a cash back. Still don't know how you use it though.

Hey guys, lurked MacRumors for a long time, thought I'd share what I am doing regarding the new iPhone.

For the phone itself, I'm pre-ordering the iPhone 6, 64GB, Silver, straight from Apple tomorrow morning.
I also found a great SIM, 12-month contract from Three: 2GB data (tethering allowed), 200 minutes and unlimited texts for £10 a month!

In my previous 2 year contract with my iPhone 5 (on Three), I never went over 2GB of data usage, even though I had All-You-Can-Eat (unlimited) data. I do not require a lot of call time and most plans have unlimited texts.

If you work out the price in terms of 2 years, it works out to be: (619+(10*24)) £859 all in. Now if you divide that by 24 months, you get just under £36 a month. I don't think your going to beat that when they release the tarrifs and up-front cost tomorrow!

Now, you compare this with a year old iPhone 5S, 32GB (middle tier storage, just like the 64GB I am choosing for the iPhone 6), Silver, the numbers are quite interesting! With this configuration of iPhone, a 24 month contract with 1GB of data, unlimited minutes and unlimited texts is £38 a month! You also need to factor in the up-front cost of £29 for the phone and this works out to £941.

The only difference between these two contracts (the phones are essentially the same, just one is a year older) is unlimited minutes in the 5S contract compared to 200 minutes in my next contract, and half as much data in the 5S contract!

If you don't really care about minutes, and 2GB is enough for you, I don't think your going to find a better deal!

So I've just found out that if I upgrade with three I lose my unlimited tethering, looks like they'll either lose me as a customer tomorrow or they'll be getting less money from me each month as it's pointless paying for unlimited data that I won't use...it's going to be a fun morning tomorrow looking at everyone else's tariffs now!

I suppose I should have read the original post first better, assumed it was online.

Has anyone tested Three's data in the States? Do you get 4G if it's available?

No 4G. Reports are that there's a high ping when roaming on Three, and speeds are slow, but usable. In the US, you'll connect to either AT&T or T-Mobile.

So does anyone know how the finance option works tomorrow if I choose that?
Anyone purchased an iphone directly from apple in the past using their financing option?

How does it work? Anything to pay up front?

It's all the same data from your account. I changed my card details via the website and when I checked the app it had the same new card on it.

As an aside, if you have updated your credit card details recently, it may be worth going onto the iTunes or App Store and buying something cheap (even a free app may do it). You will get asked to confirm your card security. Better to do that now than at 8am tomorrow.

Thanks for that. I changed my credit card on my account today so have just confirmed it like you say to save time in the morning. I can confirm downloading a free app prompts for the confirmation.

My mum works for the NHS and she got me that discount code as well. Just like you, I have no idea where I'm meant to use it and it sort of suggests you have to order your phone through a third party website which I seriously don't fancy doing. The hassle doesn't seem worth it for £20. Maybe would have looked into it more had the cash back been more.
