For those comsidering swapping from a 6 to a plus.
I got the 6 on launch day and then ended up selling it and getting a plus about a month later. Got ithe 6 +in store by reserving (using the stock checker website).
The battery was the real pull for me, I'm getting in excess of 13 hrs usage on the plus compared with an absolute maximum of about 10 hrs on the Six.
The trade off is a bit of a reduction in portability, but to be honest it's not a massive issue - might be more of an issue in summer when I'm without a coat ?
although I only have one pair of jeans where the plus sticks out of the pockets.
It feels more of a "different" phone to my previous 5s whereas the 6 just didn't (if you see what I mean).
I say go for it !

100% spot on. I did the same and couldn't be happier. The Plus feels more like a real upgrade from the 5S.

Did you lose any money on your 6?

All the Apple stores now have all configs on for reservation (excluding 128gb plus)

UK iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Thread

Interesting...

May I ask what plan you are on so that I can compare please.

I have yet to sign up to Three bit thought their plans were the best.

The only issue is I have heard their network can let customers down at times and coverage can be flaky.

Sure, my plan is O2 Refresh but I haven't paid the extra for more data. I had it capped to 1gb. It was still cheaper than EE and Vodafone on both occasions though. You might find Three are cheaper but I would imagine both have bolt on options if the initial contract is cheaper. :)

I have to say O2 were the cheapest in 2012 for the iPhone 5 and were again this year for the 6 for contracts. Not sure about their sim only though. I know my contract if it was on EE would be £6 more expensive a month. Nobody was interested in matching O2 when I enquired too.

I left O2 about a year ago. I hate two years contracts.

Sim only has taught us the real costs of airtime. They're not loss leaders. The companies are still making money on them. O2's cheapest iPhone contract is £43 a month plus £29 upfront. So that £1061 over two years. That's insane. I refuse to be ripped off like that. I'd honestly rather go without the phone. The reason I mentioned giff gaff is it works out just £30 more than buying direct from Apple and getting a £10 sim only. Tesco are £2 cheaper than O2 with no upfront cost.

O2's sim only contracts are almost double the price of others too. I pay tesco £10 for what would cost £16 on O2. And for the same £10 if I was with O2 I'd get a quarter of the allowance I get now.

O2 imho have become a bit too big for their boots. Previously they were competitive and had excellent customer service. By the time I left they were over priced, even Retentions weren't interested in keeping customers (they offered me 600 less mins and half the data for £4 more than the deal I said I was leaving for) and customer service was appallingly bad. It took me 4 months to cancel my contract as despite having moved to another network they were still taking the line rental for a contract no longer with them. In the end I had to call my bank and get them to stop O2 taking any more cash and call o2 every day for 6 weeks to get a refund.

Ahh Refresh is when you get the phone from o2. My 6+ is coming unlocked SIM free so the o2 deals are different.
They work out quite a bit dearer than Three SIM only contacts.
I think I will still pop in to an o2 shop though just before going to Three, thanks.

Check out tesco for sim only too. Haha I sound like I work for tesco. But I pay £10 for 1000mins. 5000sms and 1gb data. When you sign up you can add another GB for £2.50. Obviously there's other deals though with more mins etc. They use O2's network but are a lot cheaper.

Also 4G at no extra cost. Did a speed test yesterday and hit 22mb. So not bad at all.

'Am sticking with O2 but will make them see things my way...either my 2GB data sim only deal or no deal#. Tbh I've never had any problems whatsoever with the carrier

Green is sms and blue is iMessage. It is fully automatic. But you can also choose to have them send as SMS only if you prefer.

Oh I see, only iOS contacts are receiving my msgs; outsiders are'nt#. Also am running only on wifi whilst the nano is fully activated, I think that's why!

Thanks guys!

Which carrier did you go for in the end?
I went with the Three Network taking their AYCE on a monthly SIM only contract for £28. If I am happy I'll change it to a 12 month and save myself £3 a month.

Anyway, it took Three about five hours in total to get the phone and SMS activated.
I also thought I was having problems with Data as nothing was showing and nor would it connect on 3G (no 4G here). However, doing a Soft Reset cured the problem. The second it rebooted and I turned off Wifi the 3G icon popped up and all seems well.
Speed isn't that great at the moment but it could change later.
I'm currently downloading at around 16Mbps and uploading at about 8Mbps under Wifi with around 12 & 3Mbps under 3G.
My iMac pulls down around 50Mbps on Wifi..

My current O2 contract does'nt actually run out until January; was planning on buying it out in Dec but will hold off till then. They sent me a nano sim but it's taking forever to link the iPhone with my mobile data, am told it takes 24rs to reflect; i guess that explains why it's showing 3G on the screen but 4G is enabled in Mobile Data settings....so still on wifi

My bb10 was on 4G before I banished it to the afterlife last night!
