I'm going to be on holiday on the 25th, (flying back that day, but won't be back until late evening), so won't be around to sign for the delivery if I manage to get a pre order in quickly enough for delivery on the 25th. has anyone had any experience of what happens in this situation? I trust my neighbours and so id be happy for them to try next door and then I can pick it up once Im back. Or will they take it back to the depot/distribution centre? If they do have people managed to go there and pickup, or is it a case of rearranging delivery, (that would be a pain as I'm also out on the following Monday).

I'm going to be pre-ordering the 64GB Space Grey 6S as soon as possible on Saturday morning. Annoying that it's a two week wait after that though.

All previous years have been exactly a week after, not two! :(

Maybe they're cooking up the iPhones to order this year!

It'll go back and they'll re attempt on Saturday or Monday

Yep. Will be up at 7:30am. Coffee ready. Smashing refresh like everyone else from 7:55am, resulting in the site crashing, then placing the order when it's back up again half hour later.

Anyone getting an official Apple case? I didn't realise the new 's' cases were available to order now.

Got a leather one on my 6 now but tempted to let the 6s+ go commando this year

I had an Apple leather case for my 5s - it was very pale and was really dirty looking within weeks. Worst Apple purchase ever. I know there were loads of complaints about them at the time. Never the 6/6+ cases better in terms wearing?

I reckon to try to get the majority of preorders fulfilled on the 25th.

The phones are obviously being shipped on economy seats

This reminds of an article I read the other day about excuses people use at airports to try to blag business class upgrades. Apparently one woman asked because she urgently needed to get to her destination as soon as possible. Seems she thought the economy end of the plane landed a lot later.

No they won't try to re-deliver on Saturday. It's most likely going to be UPS and if they are unable to deliver they will take it back to the depot and attempt to redeliver on Monday. If there is a UPS depot nearby then it is possible to have to held there rather then delivered in the first place or held there after a failed delivery attempt.

If you register with My UPS on their web site there is an option on there to have it held rather then delivered although the two times I have tried it they have tried to deliver anyway. I was told it's best to call and speak to customer service and ask them to hold at the depot. For me the depot is a 10 minute walk from work so I'm probably going to request them to hold it rather then to try and deliver it.

Looking for some info about apple store reservations for launch day when pre ordering - anyone do this last year? How does it work exactly. Any tips to do it fast? Am concerned it will take much longer than quickly checking out on the app as soon as pre orders go live.

They do sometimes actually. I know someone a few years back admittedly who had a missed delivery done on the Saturday. They're so busy they put them back out with the other deliveries. I also know a courier who works for another company and if you miss the delivery on a Friday they send them back out on the Saturday to try and get them delivered

I'm working from home luckily that day but if no one would be in I'd just either collect from depot or let them re attempt. Or get a family member to sit in if that's possible?

If someone had something delivered on Saturday then they were lucky. Apple does not pay the premium for Saturday delivery and UPS typically won't deliver on Saturday unless they get paid for Saturday delivery. It's not likely anyone will get their phone delivered on Saturday.

I'm not saying its a given. I'm just saying that knowing a courier it is a chance due to them getting the deliveries out and done and their working anyway so it's probably better in their eyes to get them shifted on with minimal complaints back to apple. This is what they do. However he doesn't work for UPS so who knows.

Couriers seem to be very helpful when it comes to Apple launches. If only it was always like that!!

If you do miss the delivery, you can easily collect it from the depot.

I missed my Ipad Air 2 order with UK Mail and picked it up from the depot later on the same day! I called first to confirm they had it and went in at about 7pmto pick it up

Got to admit I did sort of think of getting the rose gold. But decided to go with the space grey 6S Plus. Currently got a gold 6 plus. Personally think stock won't be a problem this year. Last year was the year for most people upgrading in my opinion.

Bought three cases off amazon £2.99 each. Didn't think till afterwards to check Whether they were for the 6S or the 6S Plus. Somehow I managed to order the correct cases :)

I wonder how much the cases will affect the taptic feedback. #Casegate ;)

Turns out the new iPhones do have smaller battery's :( Really like my plus's battery.
