everyone what is the capacity of your new iphones? my 128 GB is only 113GB? is that the norm ?

I've just checked my 64GB and it gives a capacity of 55.4GB. Seems high for the OS to be taking almost 9GB (almost 7%) of space. I wonder what else is included in the 'unusable' space calculation. Didn't check my 6 Plus before wiping it, and now I can't without putting a SIM in. That's annoying.

Yes I'm quite tempted to purchase one from JL, it says on the site they have more than 10 available in my colour & storage choice but the other configurations are selling out! This means I won't have to wait up to 3 weeks for a replacement. I also wonder how the warranty would work, 2 years warranty on the handset, is that with Apple or JL? All new iPhones have a 1 year warranty with Apple right even it's SIM locked?? (Sorry for all the questions) :)

1st year with Apple and 2nd with JL. Although you could use 1st year with JL too, but it wouldn't be as simple as a handset swap. JL would probably advise you to go to Apple in the first year anyway.

If you are wondering why the stated storage and the reported storage from iOS differs, have a read: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201402

I was wondering if that had something to do with it. But, maybe this is just me, why not have the OS report back in base 10 too? That way there would be less discrepancy reported between stated storage and available storage and users wouldn't get so twisted in knots about it. All this swapping between base 10 and binary for reporting storage space is nuts. I wish the industry would choose one and stick to it.

128gb phone = 119.2gb actual minus 4.2gb leaves 115.0gb
64gb phone = 59.6gb actual minus 4.2gb leaves 55.4gb
16gb phone = 14.9bg actual minus 4.2gb leaves 10.7gb

Yes it is confusing indeed, base 2 is the actual factual size of the drive, base 10 is just the perception. It's easier to round it up I guess.

Mine (plus) feels fine. Nice solid click. The volume buttons are a little less clicky but I think that's a good thing. I found using the volume button to take photos on the 6 Plus a bit too stiff and it was making the phone move as the shot was taken.
I personally found the more pronounced, solid stiff click better. They might not have redesigned it but my phone isn't at clicky as my 6

Oh! I wonder if Apple redesigned the switches for the 6s so that they aren't as clicky?? If so then that is a bad move as the switches don't feel as durable compared to my 6. Can anyone else confirm how the sleep/wake button feels on their new handsets?
They did say the only thing that's changed is everything...

It drives me round the twist. But they'd get stick I suppose if they suddenly started selling 60GB iPhones. Ho hum

By a little less clicky, I do mean a little. I don't have to press the volume up button quite as hard to take a photo. It's marginal but there is a small difference. For me, that's perfect. But we're all different. No pleasing everyone I guess.

I've learnt to stop being so fussy with my iPhones. I used to be extreme OCD with it, exchanging over the slightest things.

Lol. I'm not fussy or I'd have replaced the last one. I just go with whatever it is. I just find this ever so slight softening of the volume button better for me for taking photos. Especially now the 1.5s before button press is part of the live photo :)

Exactly the same. Glad I went with the 64GB over the 128GB, a few years ago I was crying out for a 128GB iPhone.
Middle storage option always seems to suits me the best, I no longer carry alot of music, I mostly stream. I'm no app hoarder either. So that leaves me with generous amount of space to fill. :D

3D Touch on keyboard while editing text peek lets you move the cursors, pop lets you select and second pop deselect :)

Yeah I have to say I'm the same now. Only have apps which I use and I stream most music and a couple of albums for when I go on the underground etc. Photos are being handled in the cloud now. I don't sync movies or TV shows to my iPhone. I use my iPad for that. Amazon Video and Netflix being used when I do want to watch on my iPhone.

I'm with you on this! Ordered two iPhones, one was shipped by UPS and the second by DPD. UPS delivery arrived at 11:30am. DPD had not arrived by 7:30pm. Called them and they said it'll definitely be delivered today. It's now coming up to 10:30pm and still no iPhone! Tracked package and it's now saying "Your parcel could not be delivered as we don't have the full name/number of the premises" - UPS didn't have a problem!

Apple will be hearing about this first thing tomorrow morning!

I've been given an updated time of 13:54 and 14:54 today which has only just passed so guess I'll be patient for a while before ringing Apple or the courier.

Be sure to mention the Consumer Contracts Regulations when you contact Apple (link)

They can try to pass the buck all they like but the bottom line is they are clearly in breach of contract as the retailer (Apple) - not the courier or delivery company is responsible for any late deliveries.

Once you make that clear they seem to listen and take everything you say much more seriously, although how this reflects on actually receiving your iPhone on time I'm yet to know but fingers crossed it arrives today.

3D Touching contact pictures within messages brings up a menu to Facetime, Message or call them

Same with doing that from the swipe left Spotlight screen. Although whether that's any easier than just tapping the icon and selecting from the menu I don't really know yet

Another tip although an iOS 9 one, not force touch..

Hold down the refresh button on a website and you get to choose to reload as desktop version and reload without ad blockers.

On the drive space thing, it's because they can, that's why they do it. If apple were the ones using the true size rather than the hard drive method of calculating space then people would say "hey, the samsungs have 16gb storage vs apples 10gb, I'm going to get a Samsung" when in fact they both get the same available space.

But the same is in the reverse, your 2gb ram is actually 2048mb, not 2000mb.
