Envirophone we're offering £370something for it so went to O2 Recycle and they beat it by 5%! Was very happy with the service and I don't have to sent my iPhone 6 off till Monday next week which means I only have to make do with an iPhone 5 for 5 days! Happy all round!
Monday next week? Then that's 12 days...

Anyone else staying away from iOS 9 until they get their new phones?

If you look hard enough it's available on the Internet, and will be officially released next week. I'm not updating my 5S or iPad Air, I want that new OS and device feel when my 6S Plus gets delivered :D

Guys I need help. I placed an online order AND an in store pickup. But prefer in store pickup.
However I'm worried if the phone I reserved won't be there when I arrive. Has there been any case before that if you arrive on time for pickup but told you they have none in stock?

This is nothing more than personal speculation but:

I would say the "delivers 25/09" orders are ones already manufactured and sitting in warehouses, meaning Apple can essentially guarantee you'll get it on that day.

Subsequent orders in the "X-Y weeks" range won't have been manufactured yet so they need some leeway to account for potential hiccups.

This is exactly what I would guess too, but then I think why do we see tracking start in china and not from a UK warehouse, if they have been built then you'd think Apple would ship them in bulk to the destination country? But maybe they just let UPS do their job!

When I was preordering this morning the pickup option was unavailable, will I be able to choose it later on before delivery or is there some policy that preorders can't be dropped off at a pickup location?

Very unlikely this will happen. Apple always under promise and over deliver.

Earlier in this thread one person had a similar thing, but he wasn't empty handed: he got a different model, a free case and Apple Store credit.

If you read the small print you have reserved a phone. If you are late they can sell it to someone else. You can make two reservations for the same day. You are not held to turn up to both or either. I have made two, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. So if I get caught in traffic or something I can go to the second one. And i'd like to think my second iPhone gets sold to a lucky person trying their luck.

Model as in a different colour or a different phone?

But anyway so it is possible that you won't get the phone you reserved. And I booked mine at 5:15pm for pickup...

I bet that even when you can track from China they're still distributed 'in bulk'.

E.g. Pallet X has so many hundred people's phones in and there will be so many hundred tracking numbers attached to that pallet, they arrive in the UK and then are individually boxed, labelled and shipped.

He wanted a 128gb and he got a 64gb and a lot of goodies.

I'm sure the odds of in-store pickup going wrong are the same or lower as your home delivery going wrong.

Just to let anyone who wants to know...know...i preordered at 8am and noticed that a pre-auth has gone through on my card but for £0. Status is processing on the store.

APPLE ONLINE STORE GBP 0845-600-1683IE *(my last 4 digits)* Card Not Present £0.00

It's showing on halifax as a pending payment, so i think rather than checking the whole amount is there they just did a card check? I'v ordered phones, iPads, MacBooks etc from them before so maybe they decided I'm trustworthy lol.

Its progress :D:D

Home delivery with UPS I always feel it is a risk. That's why I'm trying out in-store this time. I just anxious, because I chose the last window to get my phone.

Anyone else still not had their confirmation email for the order?

Expand below, an earlier post from me explaining how to get your email instantly.

Call the Apple Store support number. 0800 048 0408.

You'll get an automated line.

When it asks what you want, say "I haven't received my order confirmation email".

It will ask you where you ordered and for your order number. Just follow the instructions.

It will confirm your email address (by spelling it out letter by letter).

Five mins later you'll have a confirmation email!

Worked for me. Couldn't believe it.

I had exactly that problem with the watch, that's why I no longer trust instore pickup and have preordered for home delivery.
Went home without a watch and only an apology

Happened to me last year, turned up early for my reservation and the phone had been sold but I doubt this is common.

See that makes sense! But for me, like being on a £60 contract for 24 months and huge upfront cost is just a big no no, I hate being tied into a contract and thats just very expensive

Yepp I hate the contracts offered by Vodafone/EE/Three. I'm upgrading every year on o2 and the total cost is around 610. After selling the phone and putting it towards the 240 fee to cancel the handset part of my contract on o2, I have around 120 pounds left over which deducted from my 610 contract means I've paid 490 for last twelve months of my o2 refresh plan. This was with unlimited call time and text and 5GB of 4G.

However this year I'm paying 650ish for a 64gb plus but I only get 3GB of Internet but my usage isn't always heavy and I normally use around 2.5 GB a month anyway. These tariffs are FAR FAR better then anything the other carriers offer.

Same here, although it would be good to have a look at iOS9, but the combo of new hardware and new software will be worth the wait :)

I have now cancelled my original order in the hope that the pick up in store thing actually works out. I had contacted the chat based support regarding quite a few questions today, and apart from one of them, they were all useless. I had problems with the online chat people before, but hoped things had changed. Unfortunately they are still not trained to do the job properly, not their fault, but they need training to help customers

Damn you... Why did you have to plant that seed? You're so right, but I'm so impatient! Arghhh, I want to wait now, but it will kill me!
