Yeah, I realize that. Just saying that when I ordered for delivery payment details were required. Makes sense to do both. Seems a little strange not to require payment details for store pick up.

That is because home delivery is buying the phone and having it delivered. The in-store pick-up is not buying and having it delivered to store but reserving a phone that is already at the store. You don't give payment details because you haven't bought it, just got Apple to hold it for you on launch day and if you don't buy it on the 25th it will be made available to anyone else to buy on the Saturday.

Still lots of stock! Amazing!
This really doesn't surprise me at all. I suspect that many people are not that bothered about the incremental improvements offered on this particular 's' model.

In my view the fact that you can still secure 1st day delivery even though pre-orders have been live for nearly a day and a half is very significant.

Ordered a space grey 6s 64gb for me and a rose gold 16gb for my wife. We both can't wait, I'm currently using an iphone 4 and she's still on a 3g, so these upgrades are definitely needed.

Does anyone know how late you can change the delivery address? I may have to work on the 25th but I won't know until a couple of days before.

Just wanted to say all those worried about sending back their phones to envirofone in time and being without a phone I booked mine in on the 6th of September which had to be back to them by the 20th and I've just received an email asking if i want to extend it to the 27th. so anybody booking it in after that should have plenty of time and be without a phone :D

They just produced a lot more models this year. It'll still sell plenty.

I'm currently on Three's All-You-Can-Eat monthly rolling contract for £28. Sold off my 6+ last week and waiting for a new 6s+. I'm more inclined towards buying the phone outright and continue using the old call plan. You guys reckon that's a good idea? (Relatively new to the UK and not very comfortable with the 24-month contracts)

@TC, thanks for linking to the last year's thread...that gave me a good idea of what it was like here in the UK last year this time around :)

Or it means that Apple have managed their logistics far better than any other year.

There's also a 13 day gap between ordering and delivery and I think that, more than anything, will be the main difference with regards to better stock availability.

I also think it would be foolish to bet against another year of increased/record iPhone sales.

Because if they have a good supply of goods which they are aware shall sell, that means it is unpopular. Right?

I have bought my handset outright since iPhone 4 - i am in no contract with anyone (freedom). I am currently on 3 all you can eat data, calls, messages for £15 per month. After the initial outlay of a handset the cost is only around £100/150 a year which is far less than having a tied £50 month contract. The re-sale value of the handset is greater when it is unlocked also. My 6+ is already sold and looking forward to 6s+

Bought outright since the 5 for me, but I go with O2 for the sim instead. Usually I change the colour each year but the 6 Plus was the only exception to that rule.

No one knows, the phone isn't out yet.

Precisely! That's why I'm not going for a glass screen protector just yet, despite how great they are. Just find it pretty funny/strange that companies are selling glass screen protectors for a phone which may affect its main feature...

Exactly, or perhaps they should try and meet demand and pee customers off?

It does seem a bit of sour grapes IMO, there seems to be a split between buyers:

  • Those that can't for whatever reason move to a 6S/+. These folks seem to feel they have to convince others that the new phones are no good and therefore their "decision" not to get one is the only one to make.
  • Those that are moving totally he new phones, who simply think that the world's biggest tech company is fed up of seeing all the negative stuff about people not getting phones and have made a concerted effort to ensure better release day stock levels everywhere and increase customer satisfaction.
I'm obviously with the latter train of thought.

You can change the address online but it needs to be done in advance (i.e. a few days before will be too late). Why not have it delivered to a pickup point like a local newsagent or services like Doddle?

I think Apple are really sorry...

Changed my order this morning. Originally had an iPhone 6s 64GB Space Grey on order from O2 with launch day delivery, however since decided I want the iPhone 6s+ 64GB Space Grey. Cancelled my order with O2 this morning and ordered one from mobiles.co.uk as an upgrade through O2. Offered a much better deal then O2 did and had the model I wanted with launch day shipping. Very happy!

Deal I got was:
Unlimited Texts & Calls
5GB 4G data
iPhone 6S+ 64GB Space Grey
£69.99 upfront
£46 per month
