Is there a way to tell (perhaps an app, for example) what 4G frequency your iPhone has connected to? I know Three UK operate 4G on two frequencies, and I'm trying to understand when/if I'm connecting to one or the other (intermittently)...

In theory you can take a look from a field test.

You need to make sure you're on 4G, then dial *3001#12345#*.

Open "Serving Cell Info".

"Freq Band Indicator" shows the 4G band, it may take a while to show. Band 20 is 800Mhz.

This said, it doesn't appear to work for me - I get stuck on "Connecting" after opening the field test up (so I can't get to open Service Cell Info). YMMV.

Its easy to tell - it doesn't connect to the 800mhz 4g spectrum at all, so if you are on that spectrum it will not be connected got 4g so will either go to 3g or no internet. I know as there are a number of places I go where the only signal is the 800mhz 4g band, and now when I go there I get no internet.

As an aside I went into a three store to day and did a sim swap just in case that helps. I am still not connecting to the 800mhz spectrum but it seems to be connecting and reconnecting to the normal 4g spectrum better, but it is still to early to tell, it may appear better and then revert to being crap again, as the other "fixes" do.

Spoke to 3 earlier they are now saying that they are aware of the issues and are working with Apple. To get a software fix. No date can be given however.

Is this definitely just an iP7 issue as I am seeing similar issues with my iPhone 6.

Can get 4G for about 10 minutes, then it switches to 3G. Only way I can get it back is by switching airplane mode on and off :(

I think it is just an iphone 7 issue probably related to the intel modems. I never had a problem with my iphone 6 plus.

Can't just be down to the chip being Intel then, if Verizon uses Qualcomm. As Verizon users are having the same issue.

Pretty sure Verizon models have the intel modem too. I think it is only the sprint models that have the Qualcomm modem.

Ref Verizon & Sprint with Qualcomm, I think I have it:- Intel’s modem doesn’t support CDMA, or code division multiple access, a cellular technology used on some LTE networks. Qualcomm’s modems support CDMA. Verizon and Sprint rely on CDMA for their networks, meaning Intel-equipped phones won’t work on those networks.

My mistake. Must be a software/network issue then surely?

Thanks all. I noticed this issue last week but my friends were basically calling me mad. Glad it is a real problem that will get fixed.

I am currently on carrier update 25.1 is there anyway to force it to update to 25.5 ?

I believe 25.5 has carrier settings specifically for the 10.1 beta, so it won't install on 10.0.1 or 10.0.2 - someone correct me if I'm wrong.....

I believe it's just three because they use the 800mhz band which the iPhone 7 is not connecting with

So again today had lost 4G and had to do the sim removal method, it seems to last two days for me, i'll just keep waiting until there's a carrier update (fingers crossed!)
