On Three if it is band 3 4G (1800Mhz) it should stay on this regardless of whether 3G is present. Band 20 4G (800Mhz (aka super voice)) however will only be available if no 3G is present.

Network priority is this

4G1800
3G2100
4G800
2G for texts/calls (limited areas)

So in theory if there is good 3g signal i will never get a voice LTE call with all the advantages of the better call quality?

I don't think it's quite as simple as this. I think 4G 800 MHz rollout has been prioritised for the areas with poor 3G presence (like where I live) - therefore it's unlikely that you'll get 3G connectivity instead of 4G 800 MHz. I get no signal or one dot 3G (which is unusable), however I get 1 to 3 dots (and normally 2 or 3 dots) 4G 800 MHz. My iPhone 6S Plus holds onto 4G all of the time. My iPhone 7 Plus holds onto 4G 800 MHz for anything from 10 minutes to two and a half days - and increasingly longer periods of time these past few days.

After days without it (I tired of resetting the network settings), I'm getting a good 4G connection this morning. Could there have been a fix at Three's end? I haven't done anything to my phone.

Anyone who's experiencing decent 4G won't be down to a fix, more good luck. I can't see it being sorted until an update from Apple is issued. A few times people have tried calling me and got my answerphone instead, despite having a signal. I'm not the only one to experience this. Which I put down the problems with the iPhone 7.

I had a call with Apple Support scheduled yesterday, but I missed it. I called again this morning and I had to go through the whole problem again. The Apple Support person wanted me to to all the usual things, including a restore, which I said I didn't want to do because it wouldn't fix the issue anyway. So basically a waste of time.

So most of yesterday I had 4g on my way to work travelling 20 miles. Same journey this morning but all 3G. Getting frustrating now

and having just received my 7+ I too am no longer getting 4G like I used to on my 6S+

I had this a couple of times too. Full signal yet people got my voicemail. Never had this on any other iphone on three

Correct. I moaned to Three about this. VoLTE offers clearer call, faster connection but if a 3G signal was found your smartphone will always go to 3G for a voice call in preference to 4G. Three told me VoLTE was primarily about getting coverage to places which previously had none and therefore they weren't too bothered about the 4G/3G voice debate.

Investigating 10.1 Beta 2 now, will report findings.
[doublepost=1475601716][/doublepost]Carrier updated to Three 26.0

Confirmed Three carrier update but seemingly only available to iOS 10.1 beta equipped devices. My girlfriend's iPhone 7 plus on iOS 10.0.2 remains on Theee 25.1, not even Three 25.5. My same phone on iOS 10.1 beta 2 updated to Three 26

Will monitor over next 24 hours.

Incidentally not unique to Three or even UK...https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7685503?start=0&tstart=0

Still early days but I've just done a 50 mile journey and it's held 4G :)

I think more than anything, it's annoying. But I'm sure it'll get sorted sooner, rather than later. I've seen comments from some how we're 'beta testers' for the new iPhones and they'll get one in 6 months' time. Fair enough, let them miss out on the new iPhone.

Still looking good here so far, fingers crossed it stays like this!

I've done a journey that always lost the 4G previously and it's kept it this time
