I installed beta 3 yesterday and, while things have improved, I have a feeling the phone still prefers strong 3G signal over weaker 4G signal at times.

I made a pretty dramatic fix for this. I stuck my sim card into an iphone se. Works like a charm

Upgraded to 10.1 beta 3 day before yesterday. 4G worked fine for a day, and now today I'm back on 3G.

This is getting really annoying. I'm thinking of changing providers because of this and speeds on Three 4G quite slow in general.

Can't say I've had any speed issues with three. The below is a test last week from my living room!

Turned on/off airplane mode and now back on 4G.

Jinjin, those are good speeds, do you live in a Three cell tower? At work I get 2-3 bars of reception and between 10-12 Mbps.

Where do you live? The highest download speed I ever obtained was around 50-60Mbps when I switched to EE 4G as one of their first customers and I think I had the entire bandwidth to myself! With the popularity of 4G devices I've only ever seen speeds decrease since.

I'm on the edge of London/Kent. I do think there's a tower not far from me but I get really good speeds in most area near to me.

It's not as good in the city and currently in the office getting a few mb (in a big tall concrete office though)

I have got the 10.1 public beta too and also confirm it is infinitely better. It is almost but not quite perfect. Haven't had a chance to test if it connects to the 800mhz spectrum yet, and as ringingup said I think it still prefers a strong 3G over weak 4g sometimes, but it still switches quickly and readily back and forth, and the signal bars seem to indicate better signal strength in the same places compared to iOS 10.0.2

Mine behaved well today until i received a phone call and it switched down to 3G (as per usual). However after the call ended it would not climb back up to 4G despite being on it all morning at the same physical location.

On Vodafone U.K. and can't get 3G or 4G in places where I previously could on my 6 and se. Tried ALL the usual recommended fixes, none work. Just off the phone with AppleCare and they said it's a known issue that engineers are working on, but there's no fix yet. Mine is a rose gold 128gb 7 plus running the latest beta 3 with Vodafone 26.0 carrier settings.

Good to hear Apple admitting the issue and working on a fix. In their interests not to let this rumble on

Getting annoyed with this - should I take my phone back to Apple? I have had 4G connectivity for 2 of the 14 days since I had it. Turning it off and on again doesnt help.

So Apple support/care phoned me this morning. They are aware of the problem and engineers are working on a fix. His advice was leave the idle for 2 mins and it should connect to 4g again lol no timeline on the fix actually a wasted call. Then I phoned the Apple Store in Belfast and they weren't aware of the fault ???? Advised me to bring the phone back and they would look after me

I have no real way to gauge if I'm effected by this as 4G/3G is terrible where I live. I only get a solid 4G signal in the town centre but the speed is only about 10 mbs. Sometimes I get a weak 4G signal of about 6/7 mbs in my living room and a very weak 3G signal in my bedroom. However a few times in my bedroom it seems to have got stuck on 4G and then says it can't connect to the network. It doesn't seem to be able to consistently switch to 3G in my bedroom when there is no 4G signal and I have to manually switch it to 3G. I had the same coverage/speed with my 6S plus but not the issues with switching from 4G to 3G. So I suspect i might be effected.

I'm on O2 and have a sim free phone bought directly from Apple.

Are you taking it back then?

3 are definitely doing something as I'm still on iOS 10.0.2 and carrier 25.1 , as I travel around a lot I'm seeing the phone switch between 3G and 4G more than it has been , but I'm also getting lots of loss of internet altogether from time to time.

On another note and off topic , there are other bugs with the iPhone 7 and 7 plus , mic issues , getting fed up of people saying they can't hear me during calls

Yes this happened to me on Bluetooth on my Citroen they could hear me but I couldn't hear them and it seems just to connect to Bluetooth when it feels like it lol
