Try settings - mobile data - mobile data options - enable 4G - off

Await your iPhone to lose data signal then reconnect probably at 3G level. Then do above again but selecting voice & data. In my experience within 2 minutes if there is a 4G signal it will connect to it without the need to power down and on again.

I was using that method before updating to 10.0.3

Now it takes ages to lose signal when you turn 4g off , when you turn it back on still remain on 3G , so looks like a power cycle to get 4g back

Its not working, BTW, I have tried all the method in this post, its just not working. If I move to another area, once it connects to 3G, it will stay in 3G forever, until I power+volume force restart. It's 128G iphone 7plus, with New sim from Three. If i put the sim in my old iphone its no problem.

Strange. When I turn 4G to off it loses all data connection within a second or two and then connects to 3G within a few more seconds. Shouldn't take ages to disconnect from 4G.

And if you are in a 3G area it will reconnect at 3G level - that's to be expected.

This remains a very strange situation and given some like myself are now seeing better results i continue to wonder where the issue lies.

yup.. Im back in 3G land. Tried airplane mode and tried 4G off and then back on and despite being in a 4G area, I'm still on 3G with 10.0.0.3

There are rumours 10.1 will be released next week - I think this will fix most of the remaining problems, as I haven't had a major issue since installing the beta.

Still not fixed on 10.0.3 for me. Does anyone know if the phone can be returned as faulty for a full refund outside of the 14 days?
If you registered the issue with Apple within the 14 days then they should accept it.

I have an Iphone 7+ and with three network. I do have the same issue not connecting to 4G and being rock solid in 3G. As suggested, I updated to 10.0.03. Did 4G -> OFF-> Data only--> Data and voice only.
I spoke to three they say they are currently working on with apple engineers but do not give a time frame for the fix. I asked them whether the issue lies with the network of phone. They are avoiding the question. I posted a similar question to apple they say that Iphone does not have any problem. If required they say they can replace the phone but they say it does not guarantee the problem will be resolved.

Please could any one, let me know who has an Iphone 7 or 7+ but on a different network other than 3 facing the similar problem not connecting to 4g?

PS:- I bought SIM Free Iphone from Carphone Warehouse and ordered new SIM from 3 network(It is my existing SIM only deal ordered a micro SIM). When I put the new SIM they have locked the phone to three. Do any one have the issue that a SIM only deal locking the Iphone?

Carphone Warehouse sell the iPhone SIM Free but it's on their website that they automatically lock to the first SIM inserted.

As Three don't charge for unlocking contact them.

I'm on O2 with an unlocked 7 plus bought directly from Apple. I have a problem with it not getting a signal on 4G and being unable to automatically switch to 3G. I have to manually switch it over to 3G. I've updated to 10.0.3 and it's still the same.

For those wanting a possible quick fix I've found the folllowing:-

Settings - mobile data - mobile data options - enable 4G - OFF

IMPORTANT you select OFF and not any other option.

Watch your iPhone drop data signal (3G or whatever will vanish briefly before reconnecting almost certainly at 3G level). Once e o or 3G is displayed repeat above but choose Voice and data at the last option.

Watch your iPhone drop data again before reconnecting a few seconds later. If it reconnects at 3G wait 2 minutes to see if it climbs back to 4G. You will need to be patient but no more than a couple of minutes.

Incidentally my 7+ on 10.1 beta 4 is so far behaving as it should now (touch wood). I will await a few more days observation but I would be cautiously optimistic things are sorted.

I have been following this thread for a while as I am having 4G issues with my iPhone 7 Plus on Three's network. iOS 10.0.3 seems to have improved things, but only slightly. I can get 4G now were I couldn't before, but it doesn't seem to hold 4G for any period of time, were my iPhone 6 used to have no problem holding a 4G connection permanently in 4G areas. I tweeted @ThreeUKSupport this morning and asked them if 10.0.3 was meant to fix the problem, they replied:

'Hi Danny, thanks for getting in touch :) iOS 10.0.3 is a temporary fix for the 4G issue, we're sorry to hear you're only able to use 3G in a 4G area :( We're still working with Apple to get a permanent fix for this issue. Please let us know if we can help you with anything else. >VM'

So, hopefully the next update will fix the issue permanently, whenever that may be!

I returned mine this week and I bought mine on launch day do nearly a month old I went back to 6s never happier

I have still beeen having the occasional issue where it gets stuck on 3G with 10.1 beta four but it is nowhere near as bad as it was, only happens occasionally and is rectified by a quick flick on and off of airplane mode.

A new beta has been released - hopefully that will improve things more.

Took my 7 plus to the Apple Store at the Trafford Centre today and could thankfully replicate it not connecting to 3G / 4G. Genius swapped it for another which seems to be working fine at the moment, sat at home on full 4G on Vodafone. Preloaded software is 10.0.2 which I guess I'll leave as is...

I restarted after installing 10.0.3 but the problem was still there. Restarted again last night and seems to be working fine all of a sudden

Hey guys. Got my unit this week , it's a week 41 unit and I'm on three. It connects to 4G and stays in it .

I've had no problems at all.

So since taking my iPhone 7 back earlier in the week and now using the 6s constantly there are definitely differences. The 6s Bluetooth connects to my car every time whereas the 7 was when it felt like it. The other thing I've noticed is the side widgets update all the time on the 6s again the 7 was very glitchy in this area. Just my thoughts

It's worth pointing out some of the issues raised above such as Bluetooth seem to have been fixed in iOS 10.1 PB5.

Couldn't get the parked car feature to work at all in previous builds but it finally worked yesterday for the first time.

Blame the new garbage intel modem.
I have the same problem with O2, in low 4G signal areas the phone falls apart and struggles to drop down to 3G. I'm constantly toggling airplane mode on and off just to get things going again.

Poops, my 4g was stable for weeks on betas 3 and 4. installed 5 as soon as released and its dropping back to 3g again. What have they blinking done now :-(

After initial promise of Three UK 4G connectivity with 10.0.3.. I am now utterly disappointed!
I haven't even seen the 4G sign once in the past couple of days!
I have been to some very strong 4G areas around my locality and my iPhone 7 doesn't seem to catch on to 4G at all!
Its very annoying as I am paying top dollar for my 4G plan and my £600 iPhone cannot make use out of it where as my back up £180 Nexus 5X can hold 4G consistently.
I hope I didn't make a mistake getting the iPhone 7 instead of the Google Pixel!
I will wait until 10.1 is released and see what happens.. I hope it is not the Intel modems as that would mean all models will be affected.. and we will not get a resolution! Argh!

hmm... i wonder how long you have to wait for fix until you can ask them to cover the loss.

People on Verizon in the US have similar problems and hire phones have he Qualcomm modem so it is almost definitely a software/network issue.

Apologies if this is old news but Apple released iOS 10.1 beta 5 a couple of days ago apparently for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users only. And given its size it almost 2GB it's clearly not a delta update but most likely a fresh install. It's rumoured that this might include the fixes in iOS 10.0.3 for LTE issues and maybe further additional LTE fixes.

I wasn't aware there was a second beta this week and as wifi is weak at work won't get to test it until later.

But I stress the update appears to be only for 7 and 7 plus only.
