Apologies if this is old news but Apple released iOS 10.1 beta 5 a couple of days ago apparently for iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users only. And given its size it almost 2GB it's clearly not a delta update but most likely a fresh install. It's rumoured that this might include the fixes in iOS 10.0.3 for LTE issues and maybe further additional LTE fixes.

I wasn't aware there was a second beta this week and as wifi is weak at work won't get to test it until later.

But I stress the update appears to be only for 7 and 7 plus only.

I have put this beta 5 on. Had no problems on 3 and 4 with 4g but had to reset the carrier settings for first time in weeks today. Looks like it made it worse.

yup. aside from when I got 10.0.0.3 I haven't had 4G since. Awful. I'm surprised news papers haven't picked up on this yet

Threes response to someone on Facebook with the same issues Hi Jan, we're sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with 4G on your new iPhone. We appreciate how frustrating this must be. We believed the new software release had fixed the issue but this isn't the case. We're expecting the issue to be fixed by the end of the month. Rest assured our Technical Team are working with Apple to have this resolved as soon as possible. >Charley

I think they will release 10.1 on Thursday as part of their event.

Release 10.1 and announce release date of Airpods before getting onto Macs.

The only thing I have seen outside of here and twitter is this article http://www.computing.co.uk/ctg/news...CTG.DCM.Editors_Updates&im_edp=btinternet.com which explains the Intel modem is not as good as the Qualcomm (which I have already mentioned many pages back here).

Unless I'm reading that wrong UK gets A1784 in Plus model (which is what I have) and that is the better intel modem. I certainly was having issues although with the latest updates it's a bit too early to see if fixed.

I managed to get on 4G while out before so decided to run a speed test. Pretty happy with the speeds but just hoping that a fix will happen as I have to force my phone on to 4G at the moment as it's not switching automatically.

Just checked my 7+. In an area of 4G and it's stuck on 3G at the moment. So not all fixed as I thought. :(
[doublepost=1477154622][/doublepost]I can't even get any internet connectivity at all if I force it back to 4G!

Add me to the list. I thought I was going mad until I stumbled across this thread.

My old iPhone 6 was quicker than my new iPhone 7 as it would keep hold of the 4g.

iPhone 7 bought direct from apple sim free. Three sim only deal on a contract.

I'm wondering whether to return my 7 for a refund until they sort it out.

Are you on 10.1 beta?

10.1b5
[doublepost=1477156210][/doublepost]Just had a live chat with Apple support
  • With this issue, it is something that Apple Engineering is aware of, and are working to resolve. At this time we are asking for your patience for a future software release to be able to correct this issue.
So appears to be a continued known problem.

Just been on the Apple support chat for a looooong session there, well over an hour.

Initially it was stated that Apple were unaware of the issue. They had me reset my network settings to see if that helped, and then they also run a remote diagnostics session on my handset. No idea if that showed anything up. I did ask, but never got an answer.

During the chat I also sent the advisor a number of links to webpages/forums with people complaining of this issue, to verify that it wasn't an isolated problem.

Eventually the advisor stated that Apple were indeed aware of the issue, and were working on a fix. This fix should come in iOS10.1 they said, but couldn't confirm when this would be released to the public.

Can't say I'm feeling overly optimistic at the moment....... :(

Things were looking positive with Beta 4 4G signal was not bad with 3, now I have installed Beta 5 I think I have lost 4G again !

They are releasing Apple Watch Nike Edition on October 28.

I think that it's probable iOS 10.1 will land around then out of Beta.

It's weird as PB5 is causing issues for others whereas issues I've had have seemingly been fixed.

Having said that I'm on o2; might make a difference?

An update on my situation

Initially I thought my iPhone 7 plus had no issues, I was using it at home and central London, seemed the same as my 6S plus.

Today I went to Hampstead Heath with my gf who has my old 6S plus and I had my iPhone 7 plus, both using the same three plan.

Hamstead Heath has poor reception for three, while the 6S plus connected with one bar often, it was on 4g often, my 7 could not even get a connection , often stuck on no service while the 6 had one bar 4G. It was a light and day experience....the intel modem is crap, you will not notice how bad the issue is till you use it side by side with a 6S in bad reception areas.

As it's still within 14 return period, in returning it , for £1100 I paid with AppleCare and case, I'm not happy apple cheaped out x amount of cents on this rubbish intel modem.

If you live in a bad reception area, do some
Testing.

I've been lurking on this thread, as I was waiting for my iP7+ to arrive. Didn't think it was gonna arrive until 4 Nov, but Three pleasantly surprised me :)

Anyways, happy to report no issues with 4G (touch wood lol!)
