Well, after a few days of running 10.1, I'm pleased to say that so far things are still much better. Haven't had to "force" it on to 4G at all, still seems to be flicking between 3G & 4G quite happily all by itself.

However, I'm curious as to whether anybody else has noticed a drop in battery performance on 10.1? I wouldn't say it was awful, but it certainly seems to be running down quicker than it was prior to installing the 10.1 update.

Never happy! :p

Using the my new iPhone 7 the last few days and behaving normally i.e. Changing from 3G to 4g readily so far so good

After 10.1 mine would jump on 4G okay. Though was slow, so did not matter if it was 3G or 4G, and sometimes I had 5 stars 3G with no reception.

Battery was not good, though cannot say it was worse than my 6S.

In the end I returned it, the 6S is solid reception where I live, maybe a few months down the line I will check this thread to see if it's all been sorted, but so far very disappointed with the Intel modem

This is on o2 in Heanor. Not sure how far away the mast was at the time of testing but pretty happy with those results.

This is on iPhone 7 Plus iOS 10.1.

I've got the iPhone 7 with the intel chip and getting good speeds. What's everyone else got ? Just curious

So just arrived at work and iPhone 7 stuck on 3G I wonder what's Argos return policy

Update just changed back to 4g but obviously very slow in changing compared to my 6s

I have this exact same problem (also on Three in the UK with an iPhone 7).

I spoke to Three and they said it was a common problem with the iPhone 7 across all networks. My girlfriend is also on Three and has an iPhone 5 and has 4G pretty much everywhere and I can be sat next to her and be stuck on 3G.

Like yourself, I have been through all of the settings to try and resolve this and have exhausted all suggested fixes found online but still having the same issue. I also experience difficulty accessing the internet on 3G and have to turn my phone off and on again to reconnect (Which gives me 4G connectivity for a short period but them changes to 3G).

It is very frustrating and you'd expect Apple to have resolved this issue by now but still we're left with a top notch bit of tech that has slower data speeds than its predecessors.

Anyone know what Three's view is now. Previously they said it would be fixed in an update are we now hearing this is just normal behavior from the new phone?

Perhaps 10.1.1 update that just dropped will have a fix too?

iOS 10.1.1 updates the modem firmware to 1.01.15 so should be some fixes :)

Time to play the waiting game again!

Yep definitely a drop in performance of battery.

I've had to airplane mode a couple of times since 10.1 this last few days, which is acceptable. Battery life is still good. Getting a good 7/8 hours use with around 25% battery left each night.

I am sure it is too early to tell, but can you report back as to if it seems any better after a few days please.

Last nights iOS 10.1.1 update brought the modem firmware to 1.01.15
Uploaded a picture of the Speedtest I got on the move. Looks promising

Running 10.2b1 and so far it appears to be more aggressive swapping between 3g and 4g. Overall number of bars of service is lower than 6s was, but a speed test this morning peaked 80mb download which is good for my current location.

Only just spotted this thread. I got the iPhone 7 on launch date and have wrestled with this problem on Three since then. It finally seems like iOS 10.1 fixed the issue. In fact, I'm wary about upgrading to 10.1.1 given what I've read here. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I've heard of a few people who had their bills refunded for that month, but I was issued with just £5 credit. Will almost certainly switch when my 12 month sim comes to an end next Feb. I'll look out for one of the limited time EE deals if there is one - they recently had a £19.99 pay monthly with 16GB, unlimited minutes, unlimited texts plus £70 Amazon voucher.

I am finding that making calls, it reverts to 3G and more often than not, I have to airplane mode on and off to get 4G back.

There was a thread about iphone 7 users on EE that had the same issues, it just wasn't as busy as this one.

I just tried this on 10.2 b1, I made a test call to 123 and it dropped to 3g as would be expected and after the call it took almost a minute before it switched back to 4g.

I have a cheap Motorola Moto g phone and I put my three sim in it last night and it did the same. When on a call registered as "H" then after call back to 4g. Weird lol

General calling will be via 3G circuit switched unless you are in a VoLTE area where you can make a voice call over the 4G network. So its normal to drop to 3G for a voice call, and then revert to 4G sometime soon after.
