My stuff typically comes via UPS (I'm fairly close to Tamworth) but iPhone4 and 4s deliveries also came with TNT, DHL and some outfit called Syncreon. Agree thats it's probably down to regional differences.
Yeah I got my email confirmation at 2AM last night, about 1 hr 30mins after I bought it. WooHoo.Yup. I'm all set.
Got a 32GB black Wi-Fi model ordered this morning for delivery on the 16th and received my confirmation email. All models are still available. That's nice to know for future reference after the debacle of last night. Although I can't help but feel that the hype and demand isn't there for this one like it was with the previous two.

The iPhone 4S pre-orders arrived on launch day in Northern Ireland, I would be very surprised if the iPad orders didn't. I would definitely plan to be at home that day

Anyone else think this compares to the Take That ticket fisaco where everyone tried all day on the phones/internet only to find that in the end there was more than enough tickets to go round.
Felt stupid in the end for wasting all that time trying to buy something that was readily available.

So I've just gone to check my order status and it's marked as 'Dispatched: Delivers on 16 March' , anyone else got dispatched as their status?
yeh everyones said that, just means that they have it ready to go but they won't release it till the 15th

My guess would be that their losing the naming convention and just having a new iPad every year ala iPod and iPod touch i.e. 3rd Generation, 4th Generation and so on.
Credit Card Company Busy This Morning LOL
I did the 'try and order' dance last night until 12.15am then gave up, managed to get a few 'oops' pages up but no further.
Woke at 4.30am (not with alarm lol) and tried again. First Credit Card was refused .. second one went through. Decided to phone both companies this morning to find out the situation. The refused card company said that some transactions (Apple is one of them obviously) will ALWAYS get refused!! I asked if there's any way around it as we purchase large Apple things about twice a year and was told 'no, it will never go through unless you phone to tell us about it first (I was NOT going to phone them at 4.30am!!!) and then it has to be in a 24 hour window'.
The whole point of a credit card is to make things easier not harder! I like that they're being vigilant with the whole fraud thing but when I know I WILL spend large amounts with Apple and have told the CC people this it's frustrating.
So in future, for all Apple products, we will use the other CC company
PS The 'failed' Credit Card Company said 'sorry for the delay in answering the phone, we've been really busy this morning' !! LOL NO KIDDING!!!!

Can I ask if anyone plans to, or has been to, the Brighton Store. Its in a shopping centre so i'm not sure how it works for getting their early on launch day?

Exact same thing happened to me.
Tried twice on one credit card and nothing. My building society simply refused to authorise the transaction. This was at 415am so I wasn't gonna call. I ended up using a card I never use.
No idea why they do this. I buy from apple a lot and I've used this card in the apple store for more expensive things. Baffling really.
I've heard this a few times but they took my money instantly off my credit card last night.
Another dumb question, can I use Apple vouchers online or over the phone?

Me and my friend wanted to go to a midnight release, not to camp out but to turn up and pick one up, probably go to the cinema or something beforehand too. Rang round the nearby Apple stores (Newcastle and Gateshead) and it doesn't seem like they're doing midnight releases
