UK New iPad Thread.

Gave up trying last night, pointless to rush anyway!!

Pleasantly surprised that the estimated delivery date was still the 16th when I logged in this morning.

Decided 16Gb is not enough for me as current iPad is full, so ordered WiFi and 4g 64Gb Black 😎

Yes, the UK will be working on the 800Mhz and 2.6Ghz spectra, unlike the US which uses 700MHz and 2.1Ghz.

Wide spread coverage of 4G LTE will not come soon for the UK.

When the UK does eventually get 4G/LTE (Late 2012/early 2013) the iPad 3 won't be compatible with the bands as they will operate on 800mz & 2.6Ghz spectrum... http://www.gizmodo.co.uk/2012/03/will-the-new-ipads-4g-even-work-here-in-the-uk/

However by the time 4G does get implemented at a usable level nationwide I'm sure apple will have released another iPad.In the meantime 3g will still work on the 4g iPad no problem.
 
Took me some effort to order it last night, but I managed to get through anyway and my card shows that I could be billed twice.
 
Yeap, so I'm just keeping an eye onto the card. The statement just shows 'pending' transaction and my order on Apple shows one iPad purchased only 😀

I'm really excited to see the retina display on the iPad because this would mean we could see it on the MBA or MBP during the refresh this year!
 
Does anyone know when we're likely to see the new iPad's turning up in Apple stores, not to buy but to look at/play with?

Do demo units usually superseed the retail units?

I had the same annoying 'oops' issue last night, with no success. But when I've gone to the bank today, Apple has took out the money for 2 orders, yet I don't have confirmation or anything in my order history.

Does anyone have the same issue or have any idea whats happening?

Great just asked at John Lewis and they aren't doing pre-orders and will have order online or turn up in a store on the 16th.

With getting staff discount which is just over £60 on a 64GB Wi-Fi model, just hope I get one

I've had exactly the same problem last night, the difference is that it was a 'pending' transaction which I hope will get cancelled out.

Well I was convinced the the pre-order delivery dates would have slipped by now! In fact I'm shocked they haven't. I was so sure in fact, here's what I had to do to preorder last night:

  • 12:05am Store comes back up. Try to place order but credit card declines due to insufficient funds (a miscalculation on my part)
  • 12:30am Apply for 'payday loan' of £250 at wonga.com (3000% APR!!) I will owe £304.25 on 30th March.
  • 12:50am Loan arrives in my bank account.
  • 12:55am Use loan to pay credit card, freeing up enough credit to place order.
  • 1:10am Place order for new iPad
  • 1:20am Put iPad 2 on eBay (was hoping for a cash sale but finally gave in to eBay)
  • 10:00am Received a cash offer of £270 for my iPad 2!
  • 11:00am Removed iPad 2 from eBay as it was collected in person and paid for!
  • 11:30am Put £270 cash in bank account.
  • 12:05pm Paid off Wonga loan (no interest due to it being less than 12 hours!)
I must be some kind of idiot to go through that for the sake of getting a new iPad on launch day! Still, at least it didn't cost me anything in the end.
 
Looks like the delivery date for Black 32GB Wi-Fi has now slipped to 22nd March.

Just got my order in for one for 16th delivery with 10 quid off thanks to my company offering me a discount on purchases from Apple. A tenner is a tenner after all!

I am skint til next week now. Well technically i'm not but here's how it works. I get paid a week tomorrow..... and my mate is having my iPad 2 on Wednesday ( £300 ) but between now and Wednesday i have £80 in my current account.... i do have an ISA which i can withdraw from at any time so its not major problems....it was £90 i had left in my current account but Unison decides to take their membership fee today.... not the best of times Unison!!!!!! But you have to do it for the new iPad! ha ha

I'm hoping one of my mystery orders cancel themselves too.

Did you get order confirmation or anything showing up in your recent orders?

I have to phone Apple back at 4 if I don't get a confirmation email. I hope I've not got to re-order..
 
Pre-Ordered mine 30 minutes ago and just received confirmation.

64Gb WiFi - White. Delivery on 16th.

Yes I've got a confirmation an hour later and it has also shown up on my Track Order.

It seems that they may have found some hidden down the back of the sofa - the 32Gb Black is back to Delivery on 16th again.

not sure pal.

sent a email to the Trafford store and got a reply saying there not doing pre orders but have now sent a email to John Lewis website CS to ask them if they are doing it online and to collect in store on launch day
