I have just followed in your footsteps and checked my order status and the the picture of the iPad has changed to a box, Now that is definitely getting closer :D

Is yours still showing a box? I looked at mine this morning and it turned to a box however it's now reverted back to an iPad.

Nope, the fastest available here is HSDPA. So called 3.5G, by some.

Most networks support it, but there's no 4G per se, and even when there is, the UK frequency is going to be different from the States', so the "4G" iPad won't work here, or anywhere else in Europe.

I think LTE is going to be a mess too many different bands across too many different countries which will take a long time for phones and tablets to start supporting all the bands..

Back on topic hopefully our orders will start shipping by wednesday of next week.

Order Status

I ordered mine yesterday (8th March) at 5 past 8 in the morning and it still saying processing - although it still says March 16th delivery :D

Dont expect it to be cheap either. When its released over here, carriers will charge a fortune.

But like I said earlier, if you're going for a 4G enabled iPad, money wont be an object to you anyway :)

I loved how Apple demo'd streaming video over 4G. It may load faster and at a higher quality, but I doubt that 1GB data plan will last very long. I predict some very expensive bills coming through the door in the US.

I'm having mine engraved (I thought I might as well, what the hell it's free) so maybe that is why it hasn't turned into a box yet.

You didn't think about the resale value then...?

I'm sure that Apple offer free engraving so that they are more difficult to sell on the second hand market - it ups demand for clean iPads.

Just spoken to Apple as I needed to check a few details with my order.

I asked about their shipping method. The agent said they're using three carriers - TNT, UPS and UK Mail.

The batch will be sent to Syncreon in Hinckley then shipped from there.

Hope this helps.

Aye. They need to be really careful about how they advertise it here. If they go around proclaiming that it's "4G" when at the moment we have no carriers that support it, or will ever have any that support it they could get a beat down by trading standards.

except they get away with it with this small print:

4G coverage is not available in all areas and varies by carrier. See your carrier for details.

4G LTE supported on AT&T and Verizon networks in the US; Bell, Rogers and Telus networks in Canada.

4G data plan is sold separately. The iPad with Wi-Fi + 4G model you purchase is configured to work with a particular mobile network technology. Check with your carrier for compatibility and 4G data plan availability.

It's still a 4G enabled device and they are advertising it as such, even if its on a different 4G band to that being used here.

Does anyone know what time of day on the 16th it will be delivered? or does it depend on area etc.

Someone will be home to sign for it up until around 1:30pm, so hopefully it comes before then.

Just recieved email from apple saying that despite their best efforts they are no longer able to deliver my iPad on the 16th ( i ordered within the first 5mins of the site going live ) they now say the 21st !!!!! :(

Does it ask to login to your apple account?
I would check first to make sure its not a phishing one, and go to http://apple.com/orderstatus
had never thought about it but could be an idea target for phishing attempts

Same here. I ordered my 32GB Black WiFi model at around 1am in the early hours of 8th March and just got an email to revise my delivery date from 16th to 21st. :(

I'm going to try and pick one up at an apple store on launch weekend and then cancel my online order.

Exactly the same for me!

Vans get loaded up about 6am. They are usually out delivering for 12 hours or so. They take the most efficient delivery route - so when Apple say delivery is between 8am and 7pm what they mean is that delivery is between 8am and 7pm.

From the wording of the email, I think it is a logistics problem not a problem with a particular model.

I was thinking the same thing. Wonder if the delay is anything to do with where you live. I am West of Scotland, anyone else?
