Hey if you have to get on the M77 to get there its rural :)

You know what I'm trying to say though, chances are if yours is delayed then theres a good chance mines will be too.

Haha very funny :D

But all joking aside there is a week to go until the planned delivery date and they are already saying that they cannot meet the orginal timescale and my confirmation was received just after midnight.

Will be really annoyed if someone orderd a day later takes deliver before me just because in the eyes of the delivery firm or apple they are easier to delivery to.

We'll probably never know the real reason but we can only speculate.

Just been chatting to Apple. I wanted to see if I could pay for my iPad now and collect it at a Store on the day, but they said no.

If I turn up on the day, how likely are they to run out of the 16GB Wi-Fi models? How early do I need to get there, etc.? I really don't want to wait 2-3 weeks if I can help it; it's my first iPad and I'm excited! :p

Well yes, I'm sure that if Apple only had one iPad to deliver in the UK then RMSD could cope.

But if you turned up at the post office with a million boxes it's unlikely they would be able to meet that guarantee.

Agreed, but this all goes back to when the Ipad is due to hit the UK shores. I guess it must only be arriving the day before. However if delivery is now 21st March then it begs the question, why will it take until Wednesday the following week to be delievered?

What will they be doing with them Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday? -Carting them about by bicycle?

For 4S I Turned up at 7AM and was one of the last in the queue for stock, I'd say 6am would probably get you whatever model you wanted. Then you have a 2 hour wait... minimum. I didn't get into the store until after 9. If my delivery date is pushed back I'll go down at just before 7am again and see what I can get, then just return the other iPad when it arrives.

I am bricking it everytime I get am email. I went for white wifi 32gb and got it a couple of minutes after the store went back on. Fingers crossed. If anyone finds out why there being pushed back that would be awesome i would like to know.

Did anyone who ordered a wifi+4G 64GB early (say by midnight 7 march) get the email yet? Delays seem to be affecting more popular models so far...

Got the original confirmation email at about 10pm for Black 64GB+4G. Still awaiting delay email.

What are the most popular models?

I got the 64gb wifi and 4g, black and still says delivery for the 16th on my account, with no email for push back of delivery yet. I think I'll be alright then! :D If I do get an email about it, though, I'll simply queue for the damn iPad! :)

Near coventry
Im guessing that place will be guarded like a fortress!

Hmm, just down the road from me.....

I ordered mine at about 12.15am UK time, on the 8th, using the App, but no money has been taken from my credit card yet. Still showing as the 16th and I haven't received any emails advising of a delay.

Has everyone else who preordered had the funds taken from their account already?

The funds have not physically been taken, they have just put a hold on that amount on the card. Depending on your credit card provider, you may or may not be able to see that transaction on the card's website when looking at your account. My Visa card doesn't show this type of hold transaction for example, but my Mastercard does. If you phone the card provider they will be able to tell you though.

My 64gb Black wifi, ordered at 0040 on the 8th, is still showing delivery 16th. Hope it sticks. Payment was flawless when I ordered, no hangs, and money was taken off my cc immediately.

I ordered about the same time as you, also living in the West Midlands and I HAVE been charged already for my 32GB white 4G.

If the earlier rumours are true, several plane loads oh iPads have already been shipped to the US so they might get local deliveries too ... initial stock only I guess.

My guess is those shipments are for Apple retail stores. If I remember correctly, the same happened for the iPhone 4S. Mine came from within the UK whereas US buyers' ones got shipped from China.

If you turn up ON the day of release, you'll probably be a day too late (sadly, that's not supposed to be a joke either) :D

FWIW
No email delay email here yet from my 32 black wifi ordered about 430pm yesterday. But, if it delays it delays - I'm more concerned I won't get my hands on my new camera which is released the day before!

If we go on previous launches, pretty fast. The 16GB models have, in the past, been the most popular models because of their price. However, it looks like the 32GB models are becoming ever-more popular so I don't know.

It also depends on the store. Flagship ones (ie Regent Street, Covent Garden, etc.) probably a good 3-4+ hours i'd say. For smaller ones, 1-2hrs should be enough based on my experience.

Does anyone know if you can use a presign form in the UK? :)
So you can get your courier to drop it off round the back of your house or something like that?
If that is what you mean then it depends on who you get it sent with, I have never done it before but was thinking of doing it for the iPad on friday, and then I just decided to arrange a day off work.
So I get to sit at home all day waiting for the iPad, jumping up everytime I hear something outside of my house. We have all been there.

Ordered mine on the day it was announced 64gb 4G. Just need to get rid of my iPad 2.

Same here although I've got a prospective buyer in a work colleague who had offered to buy my iPad 2 without me even asking. The same colleague bought my original iPad when I got the iPad 2.

I ordered my white 64GB wifi as soon as the store reopened, which I think was about 11:30 and it still says delivered on the 16th...and I live in a Derbyshire village. Which to them will be middle of nowhere.

Guys, I think the only ones having their orders pushed back are ones in the far reaches of the UK (Scotland, Northern Ireland) - still stupid how they're doing it though.
