I ordered the base model on Monday evening, it's currently on its way, admittedly via a rather circuitous route.

Apparently it's currently in Almaty, Kazakhstan, having previously come from Shanghai via South Korea.

Ordered the base model and upgraded it to 16gb with apple care as I plan on keeping this one for a long time.

Will give my wife my macbook air 2011 model to replace her ageing macbook pro 17" core 2 duo from 2007!

Ships between the 16th to the 20th July

Ordered mine on Monday evening, got an estimated delivery range of 25th - 27th of June. It dispatched a day early, and now the estimated date is the 23rd!!

It says its Carrier Name: Syncreon Technology in the dispatch email, is there any way to track this before it hits the UK?

Just ordered this a couple of hours ago. 16-20th July delivery estimate :(.

Hope that can fall to around 2 weeks.

Pre ordered

Hi there,

Just to let you know that if you call the John Lewis call centre. You can indeed put a reserve on the new MacBook retina. I did this on Wednesday and just went into store to verify my order. The order has been verified today and I seem to be the only one that has reserved / per ordered. Now with some further important info. The date of delivery to John Lewis was e 13th of June. I have been assured that procurement are chasing delivery and believe the laptops are in transit.

That really could mean anything up to a week according to the store manager.

Stormfront (Authorised Apple Retailer) in Dundee have a Retina MBP on display, and earlier today they had at least 1 High End one in stock today!
Only 8% Education discount though!

They had one yesterday apparently. It has sold and I was told that they received it from the apple uk distribution channels. How come they got them but no other apple store in the uk has?????

I wonder where their next stop will be. I was expecting it to go straight from China to Amsterdam, so maybe it will be there next, or maybe straight to UK now.....

Poland or Germany before land it the UK. At lest that was the route for my 2011 imac.

Trafford centre - 2 to 3 weeks

The apple store at Trafford centre manchester are now quoting 2 - 3 weeks for instore availability of MacBook pro Retina:mad::confused::eek::confused::eek::mad:

It makes no sense to me why there is such a long lead-time on these.

If you're launching a flagship product and you're confident in it, surely it makes sense to have sufficient stock of it?!

Milton Keynes Apple Store got five today, they sold one and put the others on display (well, two were out earlier).

That's gutting, I was hoping they'd have some in this weekend. Last time I asked, though, they said they had 'no idea' when they'd be in stock, so at least that's an improvement.

What's everyone's opinion, what's the reason for this delay? Is it intentional, has something gone wrong in the supply chain, or has demand simply been completely overwhelming?

I went in today and they still had no clue. Also, despite the girl on the phone yesterday saying they don't have one on display, they do have one in the window for anyone wanting to take a look.

I would say it just takes them longer to produce than the average Macbook, I think myself that shipping times drop back to 1-2 weeks by next Friday and then slowly decrease from there on. A 1-2 week shipping is normal really for a brand new Mac launch.

What has been a major **** up is the (still) lack of display models. The fact that the Trafford Centre, one of the biggest shopping centres in the UK still doesn't have a display model and they have no idea /when/ they will have one is terrible.

I think for that I would say it's almost safe to blame the new retail VP...You know the one from...Dixons/Currys. Add in the fact how slow Apple were to replace iPad 2 advertisements too. I still think this guy will always be a bad move.

The lack of common sense from Apple stores themselves is quite poor. Like someone said The Trafford Centre have one model...in the window. Surely the manager should have common sense to take it out of the window (and leave the Retina poster up) and place it on display. You're going to get greater interest in it placing it on the table so people can mess about with it. This is what the Arndale have done, they have placed their one Retina model on the shop floor.

Went to the Reading Apple Store in the Oracle today to have a look, but they'd only put one on display and it was crammed onto a table with all the other 'old' MBPs. Not even a sign or anything indicating it was new

Way to market your flagship laptop! And I didn't even see it that well as there were two people on it.

Agreed this is a riddiculous. Rang again and now told next week. What The F is going on with the mixed messages. They should all have one update that is common

How far away are you from Manchester town centre btw mate?

The Apple Store in Manchester Arndale has it in stock if you want to have a look at it. I can't explain how nice the screen is.
