UK New MacBook Pro Thread.

Wikipedia says there are 33 stores in the country, have they really struggled getting a couple of hundred over here to put on display? It's just a little bit ridiculous.

Good job I'm not desperate for a new laptop. I have considered getting a MacBook from the Trafford Centre and keeping it for a week or so then taking it back and getting a retina, I have to remind myself I'm not that much of a bellend!

They definitely do. Well did as of yesterday. They had one on the shop floor, they could have moved back into the main store and it's now the window I guess.
 
Trafford centre Manchester have machines all for display only. Starting tomorrow. Also apparently a business customer of the store picked up a high spec machine today"!!!!!
 
Been so engrossed in the football but just checked and my rmbp now left Warsaw, hopefully UK next. On another thread those expecting delivery Monday received them today though not sure what country that's too.

If they make their next stop in uk it gives best part of two days to get to local distribution centres for a Monday delivery. Depends how much UPS work and transit the items around over the weekend.

I'm not usually this I impatient but it's just ended up in Germany now. 5th place. Supposed to be Tuesday delivery anyway. I'm half expecting a tour round the UK for good measure before I get my hands on it now.

From past experience, it is likely the mbp will sit in Germany untill Monday morning before making its way to your local UPS depot and out for delivery to you on Tuesday morning.

Did you guys get your tracking numbers when your status changed to "preparing for shipment"?

Oh yes, Germany it is now. I would eat my hat if what you say here is not exactly what happens.

I have to confesses to be enjoying watching it hop it's way here almost as much as I want it finally get here.

No not until it actually ships.
 
Just pulled the trigger and ordered the 2.6, 16gb, 512. I also got the meg safe converter and the thunderbolt cable.. I am still waiting for the confirmation email, but i am sure its fine. Delivery 16 - 20 July! Can't wait!!! :D:D
 
Been checking my order status far more often than is healthy for a grown man, and even had to do a double-take before letting out an embrassing squeal of delight when I noticed it had changed to "Preparing for shipment" this evening. :D

Take the tracking number Apple supplied you with and enter it as a reference number on the UPS website. You'll then be able to see your UPS tracking number and all of the lovely places your laptop has visited over the past few days!

When the mpb is shipped, you will get a tracking number for UPS, so you can track the progress on their website. Good thing UK is 8hrs behind China, makes the waiting a little bit easier.

A couple of ways, ups directly, the track-trace.com website is a good resource of all delivery companies.

I have also been using the iPad app 'Parcel' - if you set up an entry for the UPS reference (not the apple order), and then view on the map you get a satisfying series of pins showing the route it has taken across the globe. Much fun.

Excuse my ignorance but is it the case that these are cargo plane hops between each destination?

I would imagine one of two things are happening, on flight going on an odd route to do drop offs. But more likely UPS fly regular routes between these pairs of destinations as part of matrix covering the globe. They then picked the best schedule to get them from a to b in the required time frame; which in this case seems to be 5-7 days.

As there are scans being dong on the consignment at every destination i would imagine this means it is changing planes and being processed - but this is all pure guess work on my part.

TechSilks: Just followed the links in your signature, good you tube videos. Keep up the very good work, but you gained an extra subscriber today.

Thanks, unfortunately it doesn't work for me :-(

Probably because of this message on the delivery status page of my apple account / order tracking:



Please Note: Your items dispatched from different locations and will be merged together before delivery. Once merged, your Order Status will be updated with carrier and tracking information (at latest 48 business hours before your estimated delivery date).

Thanks also to Joe and 88king. I will assume that my RMBP is on the way but does have a UPS tracking number yet (it does have a tracking/delivery reference but the apple tracking page doesn't specify a courier).

Ain't waiting fun?
 
I ordered my retina model from Stormfront on Thursday morning. A rep told me that they should get them pretty quickly. Hoping for a call sometime next week!
